Autumn walk to my favourate Sweet Chestnut tree. Making a fire using my Bush Box Stove and boiling/roasting SweetChestnuts. Thanks for watching. Steve.
Many thanks for sharing. Beautiful photography as always. Hours of work editing etc but worth it for us viewers. The cleaning up after you finished then the fade out, like you’d never been there. Really nice touch.
I always watch your videos of the wonderful seasonal landscapes and the animals that live in nature. I also go camping and hiking with binoculars, but I envy your good-looking video work because the video equipment is bulky. In fact, the footage of your video has been sharpened and its natural scene has reached the realm of art. Thank you, my heart has become rich.
Marvellous Steve from start to finish. I could smell the autumnal aroma. I haven't had the pleasure this year of a sweet chestnut feast (yet) but have been busy collecting acorns for my next batch of Trailcam Wood Oak seedlings. A great acorn year. Thank you for a great watch and listen. Paul 👍😊
How lovely to see you cooking chestnuts, you always do a nice video. If you dont mind I shall recall a chestnut story you have reminded me of. I was nineteen and travelling through Frace in a van on a long road trip and we were Parked up under a large chestnut tree and enjoyed a fire and roast chestnuts. Ohh just thought of another time when I was in the Pyrenees with no money and had a job clearing the growth from around young chestnuts on the mountain side. Ohh one more I sold nuts on local markets and loved selling chestnuts at Christmas, an old Polish gent used to gather local chestuts and I bought them by the sack load from him. The English ones are always the sweetest. Great video and thanks for the memories. ❤
Only found your channel today, I have spent the day watching your work, its very very good. Excellent entertainment and well filmed too, Keep up the good work a Big thumbs up from the south coast of the uk.
Newcomer to your channel CV. Really appreciate it and the style in how you share your thoughts and experiences. Great balance in your appreciation of nature and the camp craft/gear and observations that are helpful and fun. Can you occasionally throw in a real burger on a pretzel roll? That would make the viewing experience perfect. It would feel like I'm right there as I watch and eat mine. Again, thank you for the vicarious shared experience.
There are lots of very old coppice trees in that wood, mainly sycamore, it used to be a old country park, now a nature reserve. The Hazel are in need of doing again.
@@craftywildcamps ah, yeah lots of former estates here have redundant coppiced woods.. what to do with it? about the heath vid: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sallandse_Heuvelrug_National_Park it's not big for a reserve, but then again it's about as big as you wil ever find heath outside of scotland. cheers!
@@craftywildcamps well the instructions I read were to do about 10 at a time, but I was so sceptical I only put one in and after a few seconds a jet of steam started shooting out the shell. I took it out and tried it and was impressed. I did a few more one at a time and left it there. I had scored the shell beforehand, no explosions 😀👍🏻
The magic feeling of autumn 🍂
Many thanks for sharing.

Thanks, as usual, for taking us along to the woods. I could practically smell that rich autumn aroma that marks the season in the forest.

I've never boiled them before I'll have to try it, cracking video as always, all the best 👍

Great memories, thanks for the stories, it's funny how things can bring back moments in time. Steve.
Thanks for a nice video.
Cool vidéo as usual

Thanks, I'm glad you like the channel. It's good to share with like minded people. Steve.
Just a good base of ember and they would be good, just like bbq. Great video as always 👍
Yes my fire was far too hot. Thanks for watching. Steve.
Great video thank you. We have done well with them this year. It helps when the wife goes through the woods every day. Take care. 😎🐺☮️👍
Yes, acorns have done well also. They say that will mean a cold winter? Not sure if we get them anymore?

Nice foraging ! I had my share of chestnuts a few day's ago. Nice slingpack . I carry for dayhikes the same one. Cheers Martin.
They are good quality bags. Thanks for watching. Steve.
Nice snack hey, under the trees in the wind is a lovely place to be. I missed them this year because I blew my knee. Next year.
If there was a year when you couldn't go out, this would be the year! Hope you're out again soon. Steve.
@@craftywildcamps Thanks bud.
Nice haul, Steve. I wonder if boiling a bit and roasting a bit is the best of both worlds?
I will give that a go. I'm in the woods now. Going to plant some (hope the squirrels don't see me!) What's left over i will eat. Cheers, Steve.
ah moody images..
oh, I never tried boiling them..
next year
nice spot, that chestnut looks coppiced way back - it could be very very old

It’s a bit untraditional but I found out that microwaving them has good results, so this year I gave it a go and was pleasantly surprised.
Good idea. Did many explode?

Great Video. There is only 1 tree near me but it’s sweet chestnuts are always small, underdeveloped and not worth taking. I’m very jealous!
