Then come back months or a year later, give it another look and now you’re in and wonder why you passed in the first place. Does that happen to you?

Just seen this review now and could’ve picked this game up cheaper last week because the shop was closing down! Too late now, but I can keep an eye out for it. At 11:50, one thing you don’t like is mixing up which followers on your player board are active and which are not. One solution is to turn the inactive followers upside down.
I prefer Orleans. More expansions available, has the deluxe components and an all around tighter game. Altiplano is still a good game though. Do you need both? Probably not...
You need to get the Trade and Intrigue expansion. The new Trade deeds board is far superior. There are 36 event tiles, many of them new, which you randomly choose 18. Creates a different feel each game. Also, has contract cards - where you go to a city and turn in resources for bonus points. The intrigue deeds board you should probably just throw it away unless you want a very mean game of Orleans.
We looked at that but expansions where you toss existing parts of a game are painful...Dead of Winter long night is a good example whereby unless you have warring colonies you replace stuff you already have. This sort of thing seems like a rip off.
I'm really glad the expansion adds new events because I feel like there is not enough variety. I just got through playing my first game of this and it felt too long and dry for me. Kind of surprised because this game is ranked so high on BGG.

All the time mate…just grabbed Carpe Diem. Looked complete crap so didn’t pick it upon release but recently got it in a bargain bin and it’s great.

Not yet mate. Lockdown has seriously hampered the amount of games we can play here. Will be hitting the table in May/June.
