I LOVE this sport, SPECIFICALLY for that reason. Not just this instance, but the majority of people within the sport are like this. There's a couple bad-apples, as with everything. But at the end of the day, you can almost know with certainty, that someone you don't even know, will be there to help, wether to lend tools, parts, or advice. This sport is AMAZING.
Not even close lol. If you focus on Castro's car in the overhead, there's no change in attitude of the car when the tap happens, and no change in speed. It was a horrible call, easily the worst of the weekend and definitely one of the worst of the year.
I agree, and thought so at the time. It could have had a small effect, but not enough to push Castro that far off the track. He was going off regardless, much like James Deane did later.
I know its gotta be a thorn in the side with that call, but you are one of the best professional drifters in the world. Remember that. Keep shredding bro, hope to meet you in Atlanta next year.
You’re a good man Chris. I didn’t agree with the judges. But good on you man for helping Castro out with a transmission. Shows real good sportsmanship man. Class act all the way. 🙏
It’s very frustrating to watch some of the recent calls made by the judges. I could only imagine being a driver and having these poor calls made against yourself. With that being said, Chris always remains professional and handles these things like a champ should. I look forward to Formula Drift make some changes and striving to be the best drift series out there. There are a lot of other series now putting on very competitive events that could spin up a real competitor for FD. The pressure is on FD. Time to tighten things up. I know it’s not from a lack of trying but results are needed.
hahah that editing was perfect. "Forsberg doesn't even need to finish this run since Castro made that major mistake" **2 seconds later** "And there you go Castro gets the win".
Seeing you and Castro together was like seeing y'all together in 2015(?) when he was in your other 370. Always respected and love how you never hesitate to help everyone as long as you're able to. Next round is yours!
It was tough seeing this call play out the way it did based on attitudes of the cars, but both yourself and Castro are class acts and great competitors! Lending a hand to a fellow driver even after the heat that comes with competition speaks volumes about you and the team.
That's what i love about FD is the comradery amongst everyone. The sportsmanship you and you're team showed to Castro was awesome to see and what i love about drifting plus the behind the scenes like this 👏 Cheers from an Australian fan mate, you are a true legend of the sport 🙌👏
Dude, you are slaying out there! Don’t second guess anything your team did. And then to help Castro out, we’ll that just makes you a great person. I will see you this weekend! It’s going to be sick!!
Props to you for finally coming up for the entirety of drivers in the most professional way. True ambassador to the sport. We will drive with you where ever in any new series that comes in the future! Miss those XDC Days…
Not agreeing with the call and then going on to help out the dude is such a class act bro this is what we need more of in Motorsports and life in general
i think that fd judging is preety strange last couple of seasons. The thing is now after watching a run i cant even tell who is gonna win according to the "new rullebook" , on other series like Driftmasters, or Drift king serries, you can tell who is advancing and who is not. In my prespective fd usa series look riged. Since there are so much for a competitor into participating on such series like, sponsorships, team, tires, spareparts, transportation, acomodation, the budgets are big. Means that every compatitor looks for a fair competition. You should do smth like drivers. Gather a large group of drivers and protest against that shit. After all you the Drivers are the Series. Without you there would be no fd..
So how hard of a bump is needed because Adam was hit in the back forcing his car to spin against field they claim it wasn’t hard enough I don’t see that hit being hard enough to force him off course
It depends on the car, and course layout. Different weight/weight split will respond differently to being bumped. Contact on a high speed sweeper (like the bank) may cause the car to move more, but be more manageable than the same contact at lower speed/high angle where the car is more bound up (like the keyhole at Road Atlanta).
Looked like Castro was gonna lead you off track anyway, no hate to him and that was cool how you helped get him back on track. Just wished the judges would be consistent cuz some drivers can drive like a derby, brake check, bag leads or get OMT’d into a win and others can’t.
Yeah I was waiting for this video Chris, FD has been terrible this season. I am dead serious when I say that all I see or hear is angry fans and FD doesn’t listen but instead decides to argue with them. 😂 shits crazy dude
Great to see this from Chris. Not letting the decision the judges made interfere with helping out a fellow driver. Tough break on the call. It didnt look like that much of a bump to me either. Get em next time.
Chris is a gentleman, this one sucks, the judges are human and can make mistakes. Yet somehow it feels like the judges are like a news team, sponsored. See em at a Les Schwab tire center when a snow fall is on the “forecast”, and what do ya know, they are fully stocked in most common sizes, and this segment brought to you by these guys whom parking lot we are filming.
I know it sucks to be DQ'd from a bad call, but as a fellow Dominican, I was still happy that Jhonnattan made it to top 8. Hopefully next time it won't require a terrible call to get him there.
Minowa vs Adam was once again interesting, minowa hit Adam multiple times with less angle(while chasing). If tapping was enough to throw Castro off Adam should have won just as you should have. Judging is off this year it seams, taking nothing away from minowa but watch Adam in the chase… seams like there needs to be a minimum speed or hp, just spit balling here let me know what ya think?
I knew from the get go that was going to be questionable. Glad you and Castro are gentlemen about it. Also this was my first FD event I went to in person! I got a little starstruck watching you just casually walk through the pits to go to the autograph session. Next time I’ll say hello or something
Justifiably upset on this one. Like I commented on Nate’s video, the judges were preaching the whole drive through contact thing at the beginning of the season. He got off the gas immediately. You couldn’t even see the contact on the live stream… judges need to make a video for this call
Very good point about spotting and providing info, i personally as acdriver prefer not to get the linda info like, how does the lead "usually" drives, just how hard do i have to chaise.
Calls like that are why I stopped watching the Live streams of FD. Drive too aggressive - you lose. Drive too safe - you lose. Make the slightest contact - you lose. Hopefully next year FD gets a new set of judges who actually know what they are looking at.
unrelated, but in the off season, it would be so cool to watch you build a vk56 Z or 370z street car. old drift garage vibes. not sure if that fits into your budget, but definitely would be cool to watch and build
Smallest bump I’ve ever seen to run someone off track. I feel if you slammed into him then yea obviously the right call. Castro was already going off track. Judging seems way off this year
Genuinely I think you shouldn’t have been k/o at that point, from the beer garden I thought Castro was running outside clip one wide, not to say it wasn’t fun to go see this as a first drift event. Unfortunately I think the f.d. Judges need to bring back the rule to challenge there call and to take a closer look at it. Like you said there have been other instances where something similar has happened in other rounds and it’s gone in favor of the other person. But either way you killed it! I hope to see you again next year on that podium here in evergreen speedway 🤘🏼
Too much work. FD works. It’s the Judging that is the issue. A few bad calls is whatever, when it becomes a thing that keeps happening, call a time out and fix that shit
I noticed there was a ripple at the end of the first corner. A lot of runs were bouncing as they were coming out and sliding off course. Sucks your tap occurred right there
STOLE!! was live watching the event and that little bump was not wheel to wheel, and it wasn’t hard enough to push him off like that! I’ll review when I get to that part of the video..
Doesn't take much of a touch sometimes... I've seen the smallest touches turn into slides that look like a "curling event" ... (I don't think you did it on purpose or anything, but racing incidents do happen)
What a lot of people don't understand with drifting and judging, since I'm sure a lot of the people commenting haven't driven With others, A small bump at almost triple digit speeds when your steering is at angle can change a lot more than you think. Let's say Castro was on trajectory to go off course , or at least seemed that way, but his car grips up and adds angle as he goes down towards the bank because that's how it's set up, what looks like would have happened is not what always would have. And the Judges have to go based off of what actually happened. There was contact right before he went off, enough to question. If the contact hadn't happened, would he have done the same? It sucks as the judges have to base it off what they physically saw and there are definitely inconsistencies in judging, I think this should have just went one more time and gone from there with a shared fault ruling, but that's just my personal opinion.
Also to add on to it, it looked like front wheel to front wheel is going to cause you to understeer and then correct which you can see Castro doing, at that moment. If you're not planning it on the track, your grip is not going to be the same as if the car is already loaded up on the suspension
While we will never know if Castro was going off or would stay on exiting outer 1, it is Chris' responsibility to not put himself in this situation. No contact and Castro goes off, its a W. If he stayed on the battle continues. You just can't make wheel to wheel contact like that and play the victim, all due respect.
@@DrunkTalk completely agree, Yes, you're supposed to be pretty much on their door, but if you made contact you, leave it in the judges hands and it may not always go your way
@@TooLoudBear yup, trying to at least correct the line, but at that point there's not much you can really do when it's right at the point you're supposed to be transitioning and coming off the bank
75% of the calls this evwnt were questionable. Tuerck and odi shouldnt have gone omt twice. I love castro and all but he souldve angled up. These judges are blind as hell. Good on you for helpin out with castro!

Got to agree, the line Castro was on there is no way he was going to get anywhere near the next outer zone so would of been an incomplete either way.... Usual BS fd judging, Driftmasters is on a whole different level to FD,much more professional way of competition and not to mention the amount of advertising you get rammed into an FD stream...
Okay, so this is almost the same situation that Adam had with Field in ATL, Yet Adam, as the lead, was deemed at fault. Make up your damn minds FD judges
I don't think it's going to be the result you're thinking of over there... There's a reason why the two drivers from over there are doing so well in FD here.
this year was by far the worst calls ive ever seen at FD Seattle in the 14 years ive been going. So many absolute horrible calls and one more times that shouldnt have been one more time.
During the drivers meeting, do the judges talk about dinner or girls? Bc it looks like you are not talking about drifting. I assume a consequence of not having quali is that you dont know what a 100 point run to the judges is or isnt anymore. And maybe not even the judges do.
Every time the judges have to explain something that goes beyond the obvious calls, it lowers my confidence so much. They basically overfocus on one thing for judging, and then that thing could either stay the same the whole event or just change as they feel like it. Sometimes line is king, sometimes angle is king, sometimes proximity is king... Sometimes door taps are fine, others they aren't, sometimes knocking a clipping zone cone is terrible but not always...
The weird thing is how many people flew off track in the lead in that area all weekend long just sucks that yours happened so early on and the tap happened. judges should’ve been able to see the attitude of the car tho. Honestly it’s upsetting seeing drivers get penalized so much for tapping other drivers when that’s kind of a big part of the sport imo.
ya gotta wonder if publicly calling out the judges for bad calls is going to negatively affect there call on you. 100% it shouldn't. but judges are humans. I agree it was a bad call almost so bad that you have to think there was something going on. I've never been a big Forsberg fan or hater. just kind of another car in the field to me. but when I saw that call I thought it was way off.
That's bs considering what happened between Field and LZ.. Field was in the ass of LZ, and that wasn't considered significant enough of a hit or bump to have forced LZ to pull out.. What's messed up is Field was in past the bumper and hit the collapsible crash bar.. Your little bump was minor and was on the rocker, not on Castro's wheel, yet he did exactly what LZ did and pulled out..
Big Dawg it seems like the judges have sided with you several times, even when you were at fault. They've done that with a couple drivers. Atleast now they seem to swap who they favor every round. I get being upset but it all kinda comes full circle eventually. This really just highlights the need for better judging, better judges or more camera angles to better tell whats happening.
It seemed you used to get all the close calls and now you are not . Fd really needs to look at the way it judges battles. So many battle results are confusing to both fans and the drivers . When youve got multiple driver's questioning a decision theres something wrong . Canr say one thing in the drivers briefing then judge runs differently. Fd is like nascar constantly changing rules and making shit up
Think you need to transition to Drift Masters, seems to be where all the greats are going in the past 2 years, even had nakamura last year! I think you'd be insane in DMEC, tracks suit your style more!
Castro was carrying too much speed into the transition/end of zone 1 and likely was going to go off by himself. But because Forsberg came in so hot and so late into the zone, that slight "bump" the judges felt forced Castro off the track. Basically the judges correlated something that really wasn't going affect the outcome
I just dont get it they basically want u running up on the other car bumping him but to hard a bump its on u i get it and other times u ca get bumped and its the drivers fault and they should of driven thru it i know judging in this type of event is difficult the rulings just arent consistent
Hard to watch dude! Have you upset one of the judges personally or something? Im not usually one to have a stab at the judges as i know first hand how hard of a job that is and generally speaking they get it right or close to right with the odd exception. But this season from a spectators point of view feels like it has been so horrendously out of whack. some of the most egregious calls iv seen in the sport in any series anywhere in the world! Your last 2 rounds with the questionable calls wouldnt even make the top 10 or 15 so far this season! Iv followed fd pretty closely for probably the last 7 or 8 years and this season has felt like an absolute mess! Very un enjoyable and hard to watch! The European series are coming and fd seems to be doing everything it can to be left behind!
It was awesome seeing you help out Castro even when you were pissed off that you got a bad call

ya gotta wonder if publicly calling out the judges for bad calls is going to negatively affect there call on you.
FD judges and questionable decisions name a better pair.
Not everyone would do that.❤👍👍👍👍👍
Hardest part about all judged sports.
Felt like he was already off line
Its funny when Matt feild bumped LZ they still gave the win to feild. Judging is all over the place
You've never gotten a fair shake form the judges. They used to prefer you now they constantly screw you over every chance they get lol
@formulaD they gunna make a better drift Comp with black jack
Just based on the video looks like castro was pushed
Definitely a bad call
i feel like he was going to be 3 off regardless
It seemed you used to get all the close calls and now you are not . Fd really needs to look at the way it judges battles. So many battle results are confusing to both fans and the drivers . When youve got multiple driver's questioning a decision theres something wrong . Canr say one thing in the drivers briefing then judge runs differently.
Fd is like nascar constantly changing rules and making shit up
Think you need to transition to Drift Masters, seems to be where all the greats are going in the past 2 years, even had nakamura last year! I think you'd be insane in DMEC, tracks suit your style more!
Someone explain why Castro got a W after a mistake like Im 5..... I just don't get drift scoring I guess?
Castro was carrying too much speed into the transition/end of zone 1 and likely was going to go off by himself. But because Forsberg came in so hot and so late into the zone, that slight "bump" the judges felt forced Castro off the track.
Basically the judges correlated something that really wasn't going affect the outcome
Isnt that a good strat tho? E brake all qual and prac and switch literally last second. ggs it was a good run though!
I just dont get it they basically want u running up on the other car bumping him but to hard a bump its on u i get it and other times u ca get bumped and its the drivers fault and they should of driven thru it i know judging in this type of event is difficult the rulings just arent consistent
i wouldnt be surprised if chris and a few others drivers leaves FD to go to DMEC 2025.......excessive times with bad calls......
