Nice video, thank you. fully concur with your comments, I really was very gentle with the running in, think it pays dividends in the long run. I've fitted a rubber exhaust tube through the back wall of the shed, so I can leave it ticking over from cold before taking it out.
I too debated on the Meteor, but thankfully the Classic was announced, just after a test ride (2 1/2 years ago) and in my view, there was no contest. I've often said, that it's the bike I couldn't afford, and my mum and dad wouldn't let me have in 1963 when i was 16.
I'm defiantly a fair weather rider, so don't have a sump guard, but have ( against my better aesthetic judgement) fitted crash bars. I like the little blower, very neat and efficient, I use a "leaf blower" to dry mine off .
I noticed at the beginning of the video, the tiger eye lights look like they have a blue tint to them, perhaps it was just the lighting, mine are clear frosted glass..
Enjoy your new bike, and you'll probably find that like most of us, you very rarely exceed 50mph even when it's run in. Stay safe.

Very much enjoyed the video thanks. It seems we’ve all gone down the sump guard route. Rode up to Tan Hill and Buttertubs yesterday. Barely any dirt on engine😊 BTW - my leaf blower makes a great bike dryer👍🏍

Had my meteor 350 since november 2021 and covered over 6000 miles in that time, i have it dealer serviced every 12 months and do the 6 month "check service" myself. the only "issues" i have had are one fork oil seal which was replaced with no hassle (they replaced both complete fork assemblies ) and the engine management light comes on in sub zero weather - but goes off after a while. love the look of the classic so maybe ?? ride safe shotto.

It was a toss up for me between the classic and the meteor.

I've got my Classic 350 on order so waiting for it to come in (couldnt get an incentive to buy before March so I'll just pick it up in March). Glad to see how effective the sump guard is as thats something I've gone for as well for the same reasons. Impressed with that pet dryer, looks like a handy bit of kit.

Absolutely the sumpguard is a good decision. Also, just my humble opinion here but I think the chrome/bronze version is the absolute most beautiful bike in production. I mean no other manufacturer has anything close to it in the aesthetic appeal.

I'd argue an engine crash guard is equally important. I was against the idea initially after taking delivery of my Stealth Black Classic 350 (only got the sump-guard due to the *aesthetics*). A simple U-turn at

Hi, thanks for your input. I hope you and the bike are now fully recovered.
I agree that a crash guard could save a lot of damage in the event of (even a slow speed) topple like yours.

I’m one of the ones waiting for 1st March to collect my 350 😊 got the sump guard in my garage already waiting to be fitted, a must have 👍 the only difference is I opted for the meteor because I don’t like wire wheels, I prefer alloys but the engine is definitely what makes these bikes so special, that’s where the magic is, all the best buddy 👍

    • @shottostravels
      @shottostravels  9 місяців тому +4

I was so close to having a Meteor. They are obviously closely realated and in the end I think it just comes down to personal choice. Bet you cant wait for 1st March,( I literally couldnt).
      Ride safe, youll love it.

The higher end variants of the Classic 350 do come with tubeless alloy wheels. I found the Meteor to have a slightly more uncomfortable riding position for myself. There's subtle differences in the engine tuning but, they're both definitely great choices. Happy trails! Ride safe brother.

@@iansmathew unfortunately in the UK we don’t get the option for alloys without buying them separately and then buying the tyres so it ends up being a expensive bike especially compared to the meteor

Lovely bike and super video. Spot on. I’m also a big fan of bike dryers. My Bruhl is brilliant but I’m sure a pet dryer does just as well. I’ve just been hosing mine down after rides then drying it thoroughly. But it does need a proper clean now and then. I’ve tried the non contact method with sprays but you still need to agitate with a brush to remove all the grot. The rear wheel does get pretty cruddy. I’m running mine in on B roads that I know well where I can do 60 kph without inviting impatient motorists to overtake dangerously.

Thanks, I'm finding the running in a real pleasure, as you say on the right roads. The little pet dryer is brill, and it's transferable to the next bike. Win win. Thanks for commenting, ride safe.

Witaj Przyjacielu. Fajnie się oglądało ten film i słuchało :)
wiesz trochę o mnie Ci opowiem. Mój pierwszy motocykl to AWO Simson 250, później były komunistyczne wynalazki, mieszkam w Polsce.
Po przerwie była CB500 i teraz Dl 650. Bardzo mi się podoba RE Clasic 350, powiedz nie masz żadnych problemów ? Oglądałem wiele filmów, że ten motocykl jest awaryjny.

      Hi Marek, thanks for commenting.
I do not have the Classic 350 anymore but I owned it long enough to realize that it is a great little bike.
It only has 20 bhp but is surprisingly willing little unit with a great gearbox.
The only real known issue is that the speedo can give trouble and many have been changed under warranty.
But it doesn't affect all bikes.
I would recommend the Classic 350 for local ride puts and as a general all round bike.
It will even tour as long as you realize it isn't the quickest thing on the road.
Thanks for commenting my friend and Ride safe👍

Just get one, you won't regret it. Honestly.
Nothing will get behind it, without it all the crap gets thrown on your exhaust and all over your engine.
