In the span of a few minutes on YT today, I've discovered that Chaka Kahn wasn't the original performer of this tune - and who Ned Doheny is. Thank you. I love UA-cam...
If by original you mean earliest, Average White Band is the original performer. The song was written by AWB member Hamish Stuart and Ned Doheny. It was later covered by Chaka Khan. Ned Doheny released his version in 1988. This acoustic version was released in the 1990s in one of his albums.
I love Chaka’s version but this one is beyond gold ❤️ nothing beats the original
The great Ned Doheny
If Ned Doheny did nothing else…which he did. Absolutely sublime. Such a great song and so stylish. I really can’t think of anything better.
This is a true rare gem. Ned Doheny and Hamish Steward were the 2 people who wrote this stunning track.
+Frances Ng That's a fantastic talented duo right there.....
Such a great song. It works great as a stripped down acoustic track or a funked up groover like the Chaka Khan or AWB versions.
AWB wrote song and there version is original version anything after is merely cover
LOVE Chaka's version of this song, but this original is tight, too!

What year is this? I thought this was 70’s but This song came out in 81 I believe.
Did Ned Doheny have a connection with the Eagles? Did you know his father was either murdered or committed suicide?
It was his grandfather or great uncle.
Such a great song. It works great as a stripped down acoustic track or a funked up groover like the Chaka Khan or AWB versions.
Ned is such a lovely singer! So appreciative of my finding his voice through Chaka Khan.
do you have the full DVD/tape of this? believe it's called "what a comfortable day". I've been trying to track it down. Thanks!
