I often look film stars and the films they were in and I became aware that most of Cary Grant's movies were either good or very good and he hardly made a dud in 30 years.
The one awful exception was Arsenic and Old Lace imo. To me he seemed woefully miscast in that one. Other than that I don't know of one single time he ever missed in any role.

Art isn't a competition in that sense to me. One can disagree, but personally I don't think that Gregory Peck was better in his role in To Kill a Mockingbird than Peter O'Toole in Lawrence of Arabia. If anything they both should have gotten an Oscar. Once a certain undefinable level of quality is achieved who cares who might be better? The best judge that we have is the test of time, however accurate that might actually be. Sorry for this tirade 😅

Yes, toned but mostly talent.
