Living about 30 minutes from Bowman, it was a real tragedy to see the UFO Welcome Center burn. Lot of passion went into that project and maintaining it.

Adam, in all the years you lived in California, you never visited the UFO Welcome Center (aka "Coyote's Flying Saucer Retrievals and Repairs" in Jacumba). I was always disappointed that you never really explored the back roads of the Golden State.
Sad to hear & see the fire damage to this roadside curiosity and to Mr. Jody's home! Must have been a bad fire - you can still see the tree damage. Read the cause was unknown. Hope he's able to rebuild. 🛸
When people have a heart project that has occupied their life for so many years often they don’t have it in them to rebuild. Best to just live with the memories. Best of luck Jody!
Given that it was apparently built with scrap materials, it would difficult or costly to find materials to replace them. And he may be physically no longer up to doing the work. He might also run into problems with permits if he tried to rebuild. The last video also showed the building had some structural issues and could have collapsed on it's own. So he may not be allowed to rebuild.
Things happen the way they are supposed to. Hope Jody finds a new mission in life that brings him joy. Adam documented for posterity what once was...here's to a new beginning🍀
I love that sunflower field. They have a special place in my heart now. I had a sister who passed away at two years old before I was born and I planned to visit her gravesite for the first time about five years ago. My family moved from the area when I was young, so I was never there. Anyway, I figured I should bring flowers, but I had no idea what kind, and I just said it out loud to myself thinking about it. Then sunflowers started appearing literally everywhere. Multiple ads online, on an envelope in the mail, at the only store I went to that day, a sign on the road to the store. It didn't seem like the right kind to bring, but the next morning there was a stand on the main road right outside my house with a guy selling sunflowers. I stopped ignoring the signs then and brought sunflowers. Now when I see them it just seems like a hello from my sister, even in this video because I watch every day.
Sadly sun flowers release toxins into the soil that kills everything around them. It insures the soil nutrients are for their sole use. I only learned this after my in laws planted the large sunflowers between two large oaks. They didn't realize at the time, and only found out after both big trees died at the same time. I used to always have a cheekful of seeds when I was at work. I loved them, and now I have dentures because the seeds destroyed my teeth. I'm old now, so I guess it's no big deal. The seeds made my 12 hour shifts pass more easily and I'm glad I learned to crack them and spit the shell with out using my fingers lol. 😂
When we were kids my sister and I would fight and whine in the back seat on car rides. Mom told us we could no longer say “shut up”. We started saying “Please refrain from saying that” instead. 40 years later we still say it instead of shut up.
