I always appreciate when non-hispanics/Latinos say they love and listen to Selena, especially when they don't understand her Spanish songs. To embrace an artist without knowing their language is always a beautiful thing. A club in Vegas had a tribute concert for her not too long ago and it was awesome to see blacks Hispanic whites Asians and everyone else getting down to the queens music. Long live Selena!

I didn’t know who Selena was until this movie came out, and after I saw it I became fascinated with her. I spent my allowance on a bunch of her albums, and while I couldn’t understand the words she was singing I completely fell in love with her music and energy. I’m as big a fan now as I was then! What a shame for her life to end so violently at such a young age. This ending still gets me choked up. On a happier note, that fashion! 😍 she’s the reason this Irish girl has bangs and long nails hahaha! 💕 Selena is still the queen!

My mom died the same year Selena did just 4 months later. I was 7 when it happened, she used to sing and dance to Selena songs while cooking and cleaning. I love Selena because everytime I listen to her music I see my mom cleaning and cooking. Her music brings so many memories back.
The way Selena’s mother falls to the ground after receiving the news is the most heart shattering thing I’ve ever seen. To this day to saddest ending to any movie ever simply because it really happened. RIP Selena we all still miss you!
This movie changed my life. I was a young boy of Iraqi descent when I watched this movie. It was the same year I had to pick which language I wanted to study in middle school. I picked Spanish because I wanted to learn the language to understand what her music meant. I studied for 5 years into high school to the highest level. I was the President of the Spanish Honor Society chapter at my school in Ann Arbor, Michigan. I worked at my uncle's store in college. I communicated with my coworkers who only spoke Spanish when no one else could. I communicated with my future brother in law (Mexican nationality) and his mother after my nephews were born. We still speak in Spanish. Fast forward to today, where I am one exam away from graduating medical school. I have used the Spanish language to effectively communicate with many patients as I did my rotations in Miami and NYC. And I will continue to do so for the rest of my career and the rest of my life. This is all because of Selena. I have been able to touch many people because of Selena. In a way, I feel like I am touching people the way Selena did in my own personal way. This is why, in this young Iraqi boy's heart, Selena will always remain deep inside.
I'm lucky I dont live far from where she lives I live in Texas she is in Corpus Christi and when we were gonna go see her she -died- that same year but she will be deep inside waiting for me to Express my feelings for her and be a singer like I want to be
I read “with love to Selena” book written by her husband , and he explained how he got to the hospital thinking she was going to survive , he was so devastated when he arrived to find out she was gone, he went home and gather all Selena’s clothes in a bag to keep her smell while he hugged the bag , it was his way to hold on to Selena. Reading that was so heartbreaking 💔 Selena has always been part of my life... I was born on March 1995 and my sister’s name is Celina.
My sister's named after her too. Selena and my late cousin Celine who passed away. So I told my mom to name her Celina. Because I loved the movie and her life story.😭🥰

The 90's had a real dark spot during this time. The death of Eazy E, Selena, Tupac, Biggie and a few i cant think of. They were all young and lost their lives too soon. They all ended in a tragedy.
If you think about it they would have ran the music world each of these artist you named had more than music going for them fashion ,movies , ownership they were on a different level now no1 does what they can do not at the same level

I've always been so sad for her whole family, but my heart especially breaks for Chris...even now, so many years later. That man truly loved Selena SO much, and he STILL loves her.
somethime its better to never loved at all. out of what I read him and his last wife had many issues about him being unable to let selena go. I am sure Selena would never of wanted that for him. But, Selena was def 1 out of 1,000,000,000,000 so yeah I get it
@@erikshaffer1016 it’s kind of hard to let her go considering they got together two years after Selena past . I don’t think Chris will ever get over it as he should. She was the first women that he was deeply in love with they had a life goal planned and it was taken away from one senseless act
I read some of his book and it makes me cry my eyes out. He truly loved her and she truly loved him. It was a match made in Heaven and it was taken away by a greedy and evil woman. I read somewhere that he remarried and had a daughter but the marriage didn't last because he still pined for Selena. Sometimes, you find the love of your life and when they're gone, you can never replace them ever. Just like Terri Irwin chose not to date or find anyone after Steve Irwin died. She said she lived the fairy tale and wasn't going to change anything. I know Selena's spirit is always nearby him and her family.
@@erikshaffer1016 I don’t blame him. Even me, I have trouble letting go of Selena and it’s hard for me to comprehend that she’s dead and imagine him. The love of her life,
We were at her last concert. Worse part was we were also 2 motels down when we heard gunshots, police had everyone stay put for hours due to that DEVIL WOMAN in her truck with the gun to her head..... We didn't know at the time who was shot or who done it until later that night, we seen it on the news it was Selena 💔💔💔💔
I watched this for the first time in my eighth grade science class (why we watched this movie in science I have no clue 😂) but I had truly fallen in love with her character that I really did bawled my eyes out when she died. 😭
@Lego Fan a famous Singer Who Sadly Died at the age of 23 By Her Fan group Producer After Selena came to talk to her about missing Checks And other things The Producer had stole.
I’m from San Antonio, TX & I was in Corpus the day Selena was killed. We didn’t know what was going on with all the sirens, so we turned on the TV & saw the news of what was going on. Then the news reports that she had died. I cried so hard, she is & ALWAYS will be La Reina
If I'm not mistaken the shots they took there are the alamadome.i was there for the performance.it was awesome to see her perform.it was in November 1994.
We watched this last year in Spanish class, and I remember everyone was talking throughout the entire movie, but when this scene started, the whole class went silent. I remember sitting there watching on the verge of tears. At the time, I’ve heard a little of her, but I didn’t focus on it. Now I’ve been listening to at least one of her songs everyday. Rip Selena 💔
Literally same! My whole classroom went silent like you could probably hear a pin drop. And then all you could hear was sniffling, even my teacher was crying and he was an older white man cause we were celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month
I just finished this movie in my Spanish class today and I was about to cry. I always knew who Selena was when I was young. I loved to dance to her songs even though I didn’t know her. As I got older I loved her even more. She will always be remembered. Fly high Selena beautiful girl ❤️🕊️
I remember we watched this in Spanish class when I was 14, no one in my class knew who Selena was. We were watching, we fell in love with her, and then this scene happened. I remember being so shocked, there was no air in my lungs, the rest of us were just speechless, and I remember a classmate saying in disbelief "She's dead?" This scene does a great job of recreating that feeling of shock, the way the world felt when Selena died. I still feel a strong weight in my heart when I see this. RIP
It’s upsetting to know the next generation won’t actually know Selena, they’ll just know her by stories told by us.Selena was an amazing person and she deserves to live on ❤️
We have to be thankful for her legacy. Thankful for both the movie and the books put out by the family. Did you guys read ' To Selena With Love'? A great book by her husband Chris.💝 Wow, so sad he and SELENA have had to live physically apart from one another all these years. Right after she passed Chris said a part of him just wanted to lie in the coffin with her and say what he would always say to her, "Lets go!". If this isn't true love I don't know what is. 💝
Selena was the epitome of class, kindness, beauty, and talent. She was stolen from us in the most tragic way. I’m so happy to see how her legacy has lived on & now there’s a new generation who is exposed to her talent & music. Teamos mucho, mi reina.
What this woman did to this poor girl who loved her is unforgivable. They say that forgiving someone helps your soul heal. I don't know if that's true or not. I am not a Latina, don't speak or understand the language. I found Selena's cassette in a record store, was going to put it back when this Latina women told me I should buy it. Told me there were songs in English I would love. She said listen to the others that are not in English, because the soul is capable of hearing & understanding what the music alone tells you, she also said that music moves you in ways that nothing else can. It's capable of crossing racial lines & bringing people together. Best advice I ever got from a stranger. If you are out there somewhere, I thank you from the bottom of my heart. A few months later this beautiful child, was taken from us. God bless & R.I.P. I'm sure God is listening to your beautiful voice. 💔🐾🐾🐾🐾💫

No celebrities death makes me more teary than this one. This story just seems so so sad, this song, how she loved her man and her family, everyone loved her, and she died from someone that had insane love for her that she put trust in when she was just trying to help her. She came from the slums to everything she could ever want, then lost it so young. Jeez.
If Selena never died, especially in such a cruel and tragic way, this song wouldn't be so sad 😔. Plus she was so young. If she was still alive, she would've been 51.
Stronger Than Most I know you left this message almost a yr ago I just had to comment. You are so right I'm exact age as the beautiful Selena and I will remember that day like everyone including myself remembers where they were when the planes took down the trade centers and the day tupac died. She was accepted from every race, religion, creed, sexual orientation etc because of her love for everyone, her moral upbringing and her beautiful heart and soul.
Selena was/is iconic in every way! She was beautiful, talented, humble, fashionable, stuck to her roots, etc., and was always very kind towards her fans. She never acted like a stuck up celebrity. I can only imagine how much more successful she would be if she were still here today. So much more amazing songs and albums, her fashion line, a model, and who knows maybe she would’ve even expanded her horizons into acting as well? She’s such a huge inspiration and legend to the Hispanic/Latino community and she will be forever missed!
This scene will always remind me of when my little brother died in a car accident. He was only 19. My whole family was waiting to hear from the coroner if my brother was one of the passengers. When it was finally confirmed, my mother fell into my arms and sobbed. I couldn’t even cry myself because I had to lift her up and be there for her. No mother should feel that pain. My little brother visited me in my dreams a few nights after and said goodbye to me in his own way. This movie captured what it feels like perfectly. So sad. Life is crazy man. Love everyone you can, you never know when it can all be taken away.
Same here, but my mom survived a car accident as I did too on our way home from the mall. That Malibu Classic crashed into a white, Dodge truck in front of a Kmart (where Academy Sports is now since the former shop was demolished around the year 2007) around summer of 1996.
I remember my teacher showed us this movie in class. By the end the entire class was in tears, including our teacher. I was sad for almost an entire month over this. R.I.P Salena. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Selena was the first; she gave Latin artists a voice and a face and told the world "We're here, look at us!" She was, is, and always will be the Queen of the Tejanos.
She was way too young to die she had her mind made up and everything what she wanted to do and to get it cut short for no reason it breaks my heart when upcoming young rappers and singers have their mind made up and their life gets cut short for no reason
I turned 23 this year & realizing she was my age when she died makes it even more devastating... because I definitely feel like I haven't lived & learned enough at 23... She was just a baby.
Looking back she was so ahead of the curve on everything. Fashion, rhythm, bilingual albums at such a young age. Had she not been taken from us at such a young age, shed be a Dolly Parton type icon in pop music
My eldest sister absolutely adored and looked up to Selena and Princess Diana when she was growing up. I can only imagine the pain she must’ve felt at the news of their deaths. The 90s sure had rough moments
I actually discovered in Therapy that those deaths caused deep emotional disturbances as I developed. It stunted my capacity to express myself as I felt that danger lurked inside everyone because those deaths were done by those closest to her. I will die on the Hill that Diana was murdered.
The ending as such was one of the saddest things I ever saw but then seeing the vigil with all of her fans holding photos and candles brought me to my knees. If you notice, there are many young women and girls who look just like her, who wanted to be like her. It just shows how inspiring and how much of a role model she was with so much to give and a very kind nature. I know I'm fighting back tears and shaking writing these words. You've got a new fan Selena.
my mom said she was selena’s age the day she passed, something inside of her felt so heavy. she was one of my moms role models even being the same age and is now mine 🕊️ it’s so sad ):
She died the exact same month and year as Eazy-E, just five days apart. What's more coincidental is that Eazy-E was the Godfather of gangsta rap while Selena was the queen of Tejano music. R.I.P. Eazy-E and Selena.
It’s disgusting to know how selfish Yolanda was and then said “I can’t put the gun down! Look what I’ve done to my best friend” she had it planned out knowing Selena was going to go off on her in disappointment for stealing things from her when she trusted her. She took a life leaving her family broken and devastated. As an American girl I’ll admit I didn’t know who Selena was till after her death I just turned sixteen and I still listen to her. She deserved better than that 💔 RIP Selena 🥺
It’s very disgusting! “Look at what I’ve done to my best friend” yeah exactly, look at what you did. Not only stealing from her but taking her away from her family AND her husband who loved her so deeply and was ready get their own family started. She was only 23 years old her life and career was jus beginning and it was taken from her by that snake in the grass claiming to be her friend! Absolutely tragic😞
I hope they start doing hologram technology, like they did with Marilyn Monroe and Audrey Hepburn. The two women are practically still alive in commercials.
She still is and probably always will be. Something about when a young impactful person passes before their peak we tend to immortalize them and in the end they get treated better for having past early vs if they did live. Its just weird but its how us humans work.
She by far is my favorite hispanic/latina singer its like her voice is a gift from God you cant help but vibe to her music. some may not understand but i use to watch this movie when i was younger around age 13 now 10 years later i still cant get over this movie and how this actually happens to celebrities and the saddest thing was that she was really young
This is one of those scenes that will always make me tear up no matter how many times I watch it. A very talented and beautiful woman was taken from us.
She was almost 24 when she died. That's so sad. Her, Tupac, Aaliyah, Notorious, Big Pun, they all died in their 20s. That’s too young. Many more died over the years too. 50 is too young to me
i just finished it yesterday and i literally just sit and think for a second and i think to myself and say, “wow. imagine if she was still here.” i wasn’t even born when she was alive but i still somehow miss her. she was such an amazing person. im still a teenager and ever since i was little i looked up to her. i remember as a kid i used to tell my dad i wanted to meet her and he would just look so upset and say nothing. i was always so confused until i watched the movie and now i just sit there and cry every time i think about her or hear any of her songs. i love her sm.
As a full African American I don’t have an inch of Hispanic in my blood but I love Selena and her music. She was so talented and beautiful. Her death was just senseless and heartbreaking. That empty stage and her voice being heard in that empty stadium with her name in lights is what speaks to me on her death. She was literally fixing to perform another concert and it just never happened.
It’s midnight and officially 25 years since Selena has been gone. There is never a day I don’t think about her what she could have been. She was a talented and beautiful woman that was taken too soon. I hope you are enjoying heaven and singing with the angels. We love you. Never forgotten, Queen. ❤️

Selena was on the verge of firing her father as her manager, Chris had told Selena that he wanted to spend more time as a married couple than a couple who is never home her dad was working her way to much!! Well when Chris was on the way to the hospital he was told she was injured in the shoulder but was going to be ok and she was in recovery, so Chris went to the hospital thinking his wife was going to be ok and excited because they were going to be able to spend more time with each other while she recovered at home, but was devastated and having to bag up her clothes and hug the bag of clothes in the bed where he just held Selena the night before, In my opinion of Chris I don’t know the man personally but he had every excuse to give up, he got hooked to help him cope with the pain of losing who he cherished and loved so much, but he didn’t give up he lived on and gave us all an insight on the side of Selena we never knew, Chris in my opinion is what I would call a real man a brave strong man!!!

This story just resonates with me so much because this young woman had an entire life of her wildest dreams coming true ahead of her and all she had to do was make it out of a meeting with someone she loved and trusted. That close to everything and in an instant it was all taken from her. Just that thought alone is the saddest thing ever

She would be so proud!!❤❤

That was so beautiful!
Hadeer Sinawe wow amazing
😥😥😥😥😥😥
My sister's named after her too. Selena and my late cousin Celine who passed away. So I told my mom to name her Celina. Because I loved the movie and her life story.😭🥰

She could've lived. She lost a lot of blood and a blood transfusion wouldve saved her....but her dad Abraham is a JW and wouldn't allow it.

Don't forget Freddy Mercury😖💔
Can't compare a real singer to clowns that talk crap to a beat and steal people's music and make it their own. Crap music sucks.

I remember being so shocked, there was no air in my lungs, the rest of us were just speechless, and I remember a classmate saying in disbelief "She's dead?" What this woman did to this poor girl who loved her is unforgivable. Selena was/is iconic in every way! She was beautiful, talented, humble, fashionable, stuck to her roots, etc., and was always very kind towards her fans. She never acted like a stuck up celebrity. So much more amazing songs and albums, her fashion line, a model, and who knows maybe she would’ve even expanded her horizons into acting as well? This scene will always remind me of when my little brother died in a car accident. He was only 19. My whole family was waiting to hear from the coroner if my brother was one of the passengers. When it was finally confirmed, my mother fell into my arms and sobbed. I couldn’t even cry myself because I had to lift her up and be there for her. No mother should feel that pain. You don't have to be Hispanic to love someone who is Hispanic or love Hispanic music, this comment is crazy!
@@kizzyrichards593 it’s probably because of the language barrier in the music is what they are probably referring to, so chill out. Positive vibes please with Selena.
@KizzyRichards Can you chill out bruh?
Weird comment.
Race has nothing to do with you being able to empathize with people or being able to connect to someone through music
Jealousy is the most dangerous sin it can lead to reputation downfall and murder
VIOLET GLORIA MENEZES it wasn’t jealousy it was Greed that lead to Selena’s untimely death!

She was so incredible. Beauty, talent, and genuine kindness. Every now and then I binge her music videos and enjoy her voice. I always end up here and my heart breaks all over again. RIP queen 💜💜

This and La Bamba’s ending man...
Richie!!!
The lady who played Ritchie's mom, Connie, holy cow, she should have won an Oscar for her acting skills when she learned of Ritchie's death. When I first saw it, it made me cry...and I was a middle school boy at the time.

I still can’t watch this without tearing up in 2024😢Rest easy queen
She made history. In the film her mom said music was a man's career amd how woman never got far, she changed that. So much talent
I saw this movie for the first time in Spanish class and I remember it being so quiet through the whole movie and when this scene happened everything was still and all you could hear was the sniffling of other classmates crying. Rip Selena

This family's pain was unfathomable. I just can't imagine. Still tears me apart all these years later.
I admit I didn’t know who Selena was when she was alive, I only heard about her after she died. When I watched Selena the movie for the first time I remember thinking Wow there is no way that The real Selena could be as beautiful as Jennifer Lopez. Then at the end when they showed Selena pics and video clips I was completely in Awe! And until this day I still have never seen a more beautiful woman than Selena!
Amen to that!!!!
@@ahahalicia racist how when she has been involved in a relationships with men of different races? And what does any of this has to do with Selena and her legacy.?

The first time that I saw this movie Selena was over 26 years ago. It’s really sad that we lost one of the greatest Tejano stars of all time but to me she’s always going to be remembered as one of the greatest stars of all time Selena and I prefer to watch the Selena movie then the Netflix one stay safe out there my friends, and for all your Selena fans out there keep on supporting her music we all love you guys.

It's because of this scene, I can't listen to "Dreaming of You". 😢😢😭😭

Don't feel bad, it took Chris a long time too before he could even listen to that song. I love this song. I listen to it to remember her by.💝
Yeah I can listen to all her songs, except this one or I Can Fall In Love 😢😭

Why does it still feel like she died yesterday?her music ,her voice has this mystery about them; I am still heartbroken about her passing 🌹
Seriously. I feel the same way, like this JUST happened.

No matter how many times I watch this. I will cry every time.😭
As the song is playing in the background, it makes the hospital scene look so real and their emotions are on key with the real tears!
DeAnthony Mays classic acting. you dont find to much of that now days
They were all really crying. It wasn't acting. If you look at the behind the scenes the actor that played Chris said it was real.
In real life AB left the hospital before the doctor broke the news because he could sense she had passed away.
man growing up and seeing her records in my mom's cd box i thought she was so beautiful and to know she died a year after i was born just made me even sadder.
She died when I was one year old
She died a month after I was born. My mom and dad were supposed to go see her in concert but I was born so they weren’t able to see her. She was going to have a concert either in Tampa or the Plant City Strawberry Festival
I was 18. I remember her and her music very well. She played several times here in El Paso!
Buffalo Braun
I know this is off topic, but I heard there were shootings in El Paso, and I just hope you’re okay and well ❤️
R.I.P Selena 💞
Did that really happen?
@@tyliekinc. yea, I read the book chris perez wrote and watching different interviews, with Chris and selena as well her brother and sister. They weren't a bad family they had their differences just like every family. It's just terrible what happened it's truly sad traffic and it could have been avoided. It's 2021 and her fan base is huge kids born in 2010 know who Selena is, she once said " THE GOAL ISN'T TOO LIVE FOR EVER, BUT TO CREATE SOMETHING THAT WILL" it's amazing what she did in her short life and what she accomplished!!
Sounds like you were there or something. How would you know that...lol..
@@texritter1736 " to Selena with love. I was attracted to the woman on stage, but it was the Selena who laughed historically on speed boats, who was determined to beat every guy in the band at video games. Who wore a baseball cap with jeans and tennis shoes on the weekend that I fell in love with"......... I read his book and listened to countless interviews with him on Selena and some of the other band members who they had talked they meaning Chris and Selena. They where a loving family but they had their differences just like me and my family and most other families. Idk a family who is completely perfect maybe there is a family out there but I'm sure they have gone thru something where they were at odds about. Selena her story caught me not because she was a beautiful singer but because " THE GOAL ISN'T TO LIVE FOREVER, BUT TO CREATE SOMETHING THAT WILL" AND SHE DID kids born in the 2,000 are huge Selena fans they were born after she passed away. The Selena fans still cry for her and still wish she was still here. Aaliyah was another lady who had a tragic story.
@@wawaelias8842 true. She was such an amazing person and I wish I was born during her time so I could've at least been blessed to see one of her performances. It hurts that the monster took her away from us. I wish that monster NEVER existed. Words can't describe how sad I feel
This story just resonates with me so much because this young woman had an entire life of her wildest dreams coming true ahead of her and all she had to do was make it out of a meeting with someone she loved and trusted. That close to everything and in an instant it was all taken from her. Just that thought alone is the saddest thing ever
After 23 years it's still sad that Selina Quintanilla Perez is gone.
Every thing happens for a reason I suppose.

My favorite part in this song is when she said “and I still can’t believe that you came up to me and said I love you, I love you too” 3:51- 4:13 I love the strings on that part it’s so deep and pulls my heartstrings. Then Selena goes from that serious face to a smile and my heart explodes. Did y’all catch that?
So sad
I agree this song is so beautiful but I'm very sad about Selena she was my favorite singer 💞💞💞 and everyone loves her 💕💖❤️
I never thought hearing this song was about a girl who had a crush on a guy and she was always Dreaming of him, until he finally said he felt the same way too. But I never imagined this song was about a beautiful woman that said in the song" and I wish on a star that somewhere you are, thinking of me too.". Meaning she lost her life and we as fans and family will not forget her. I never thought this song would be so tragic and I cry everytime I hear it. RIP Selena!!! Gone but not forgotten. 🙏🙏🙏

2 things I gotta say:
1. Yolanda, I hope you learned a valuable lesson, greed will get you nowhere.
2. Paul Walker, do me a favor and say hi to Selena for us.
Except fame.
Milton Thornton Jr. thank yo so much for not being like others with being so mad at Yolanda sure I agree that she should have not done that to Selena but anger does not bring happiness it can only bring more grief and pain being angry can have the same affect with Selena and Yolanda.
