One of the main reasons the American Healthcare System is such a sad joke is because of these PE firms. Don't let them come to India. Private healthcare is still affordable to the middle class with health insurance. But these firms would change the scenario in the long run.

Indian public has been seen claiming things like this before most elections nowadays "Mandir is priority, if people start going to temples they will not require hospitals". While proudly thumping their chests. This country is doomed. In the name of religion they've allowed themselves to be ripped by the govt.
Hence, Indian govt spends less than 2% on healthcare.
Heck, with so many train accidents happening, people still don't want to question their beloved govt. Hardly anyone has traveled in vande bharat but they love boasting about it on WhatsApp while themselves travelling in overcrowded poorly maintained Indian trains.
By the time people will actually start understanding the value of real issues, it would've already been too late.

I understand what u say... Y only 'temples' come. Muslims go to 'mosques' there is no problem. Christians go to church there also no problem. Offcourse they can go we don't have any problem with it right. But y ppl like u always have a problem when we Hindus to go our temples...? Isn't this height of hypocrisy?? If ur talking.. talk about all regions or never talk about any... Infact the money wat we Hindus donate to the temples are taken and controlled by govt. Y so? Y only temples?. Wat u said about real issues is fine... But when u talk... Only talk about real issues. Please don't mix relegion... That to targeting only a perticular one. Btw 'the temple' which u try to tell is built by the donations of the ppl of this country... Especially hindus... The govt has not built it in people's money. If ur sensible ull understand wat I'm telling you.

Great report! Very relevant to current events in the US. The US health system sucks too, for many reasons, the issue of private equity firms being one. In many cases private equity firms are owned by unknown investors , without a clear face to top management. This leads to poor accountability. Long time employees at Steward hospitals in Boston have been affected by such mismanagement, and as was mentioned in the video, Steward is in deep trouble right now. Its CEO was subpoenaed by congress, but he did not show up. He faces possible contempt charges. Private equity firms in the US also own many nursing homes, dental clinics, and other secondary and tertiary health care facilities. The central objective in all these is profit, at the expense of patient care. I hope the Indian government will take heed of this terrible trend and act quickly. The US system of health care is a poor model for India.

While in the short run the healthcare facilities, I hope, would both expand to cover the left out strata of the society and enhance to do advanced R&D, in the long run, these PE firms would end up inflating the prices. Would be interesting to see how domestic investors view this opportunity.

This is really concerning! But we cannot just go down the route of imposing an outright ban on pvt equity Investments in healthcare sector of India. We need to also pay attention to the abysmally low quality and bed availability per 1000 people and without monetary incentive pvt sector won't really do anything to fill that gap. Even though its the primary responsibility of govt, they've anyways failed at it. Before even thinking of imposing restrictions on pvt healthcare providers we first need to upgrade our public healthcare infrastructure which is as good as a third world country. Otherwise India would always continue to lack good quality healthcare. Easier said than done but govt should somehow make the MLAs and MPs take basic treatment in hospitals of their constituency unless that procedure is not available there. Maybe that gives some push to healthcare infra on local level.

These private equities to solve the problem of rising inflation "PE made inflation" in healthcare, they are going to get IRDA License and then sell out health and term insurance or they will partner with the existing ones. Plans like 1cr health insurance have already started floating around and then insuarance premiums will go up. India's Consumer index will shot up. We will faster reach the 5tr$ economy mark. Politicians Happy and Middle class citizens unhappy. RIch people can easily afford. Poor people have ayushman bharat and public hospitals. Only Middle class watching your videos will suffer

Increasing PE in Indian healthcare could also mean that India can become better integrated with global healthcare industry, and become a regional/global hub for quality medical care related value chain opportunities, medical tourism related opportunities etc... if anything goes south with Indian healthcare/hospitals, PEs alone will surely not be the reason for it... PEs only respond to 'market opportunities' and maximize their returns (so do we with our investments, isn't it?!), I see nothing alarming in it, atleast not as alarming as u folks make it sound in this video...
Pls do think through your content (esp when it's likely to give such radical narratives) from a broader macro perspective...
I generally really like your content, it's super informative, and helps to cut the clutter on complex news in simple words...but this video is a bit of an exaggeration.

First the government should make 100 percent 0 reservation, and then those from the open category and deserving people like us, should be given free education, worth the crores of rupees spent on medical education.
There can never be a cap on healthcare, as if someone cannot afford a hospital, they are free to go to government hospitals. People dont go to govt hospitals as they know the chances of survival and quality of care in both.
And yes, there should be a cap on lawyers fees, government officials fees too... Judges are lawyers who make rules favourible for themselves and the government, but never care about others. If law is unbiased, there should be a cap where a lawyer cant charge more than 1000 rupees per hearing,😂.

You are indulging in an alarming scaremongering to such an extent that it sounds as if there was a complete economic collapse in the USA because of PE firms exiting a few of the institutions when the number of exits can easily be counted on fingers. Do you want to set that kind of mistaken belief? Can we go back to the excellence in the content just the way we have had in the past?

Healthcare in US and EU is far better even with PE. Its because they have solid regulations. Indian Hospitals are already horrible/ greedy/ criminal openly. Lack of regulations not PE participation is the main issue. Regulations come from.the government which is another debate.
