    Brant, you are a great ambassador for bmx and all of the businesses that work with you, and if other "pro" riders were as humble and accessible as you are to everyone, bmx would be all the better for it. Glad to be a part of what you are and do!

    Would you recommend clear brake pads for colored rims? I've always used chrome rear rims, but I'm gonna have a black Odyssey 7KA on the back. I want some pads that will work with this....

    • @Brant_Moore
      @Brant_Moore  5 років тому

      Yep clear pads are actually made for colored/painted rims to try and make them as good as brakes on chrome rims. I personally like clear pads on my rear anodized black rim the best!

      The best! That's why everyone has them. Even some guys who ride for companies that make forks have them. haha

    • @bmxriderforlife1234
      @bmxriderforlife1234 5 років тому

      well the best available and probably the second best in terms of strength to weight ratio. directors were the best but they stopped making them. these are slightly weaker but normal looking. other forks are probably as strong but heavier.

    Brant
    Question for you
    I'm considering the v3, same forks, and gyro.
    Did the taller headtube cause any issues setting everything up: enough room for the gyro to move up and down, enough fork for the stem to clamp?
    Awesome work on the channel. Keep it up!

    • @Brant_Moore
      @Brant_Moore  4 роки тому +1

      I didn't have any issues what so ever when switching from the v2 to the v3. Gyro seemed to have the same travel room and there was plenty of fork for the stem to clamp.
      The only thing that happened was that the cable adjustment was different since things were technically a little different measurement wise on cable length.
      Thanks for the kind words as well man.

      I got so sick of breaking cables all the time, so I figured out ways to make them last as long as possible. The upper cable without cable ends means random left over cables can be used rather than buying a whole set every time. Tinkering is always fun too

    wait....gtx or gtx-r? cause the gtx in steel the r is aluminium. and the new gtx-s is just a lower grade of aluminium. 6061 vs 7075 if im not mistaken. wont go near em personally neither the gtx or the original r and really wouldnt touch the new one. pulled too many apart to trust them. got two from chijioke okafo, a gtx and a gtx-r from a former pro rider from like the 80's. all but one pulled apart on me, including another i got brand new. still have one gtx-r somewhere. snafu mobeus is cheaper, if you dont need the knarps or can get away with the non built in type(seen a few versions had one that worked and another that didnt both odyssey for what its worth) i find it works better. unless youre doing flatland. then the odyssey does spin slightly nicer with the brakes pulled.
    tailwhips unless youre doing like more then 4 doesnt seem to matter. one of my buddies whos a tailwhip madman uses the snafu. throw some triflow in either occasionally for maintenance. the odyssey one does have an advantage though as you can rebuild the bearing. remove the seal. remove the c clamp. line up the bearing slot and let them start falling out till you can separate it. then rebuild with new balls. as long as you dont have it pull apart mid trick on you that last forever. even if they pull apart you can rebuild it. c clamps from other gyros work. and you can find the right ball bearings.
    could be manufacturing flaws. but never had it on the snafu so i just stick with those. mind you only a couple other people i know have had the pull apart issue. so i think it could just be a bad batch, but for the price not taking a risk.
    sexy bike though.
