Because it's just as hurtful to asian people as the n-word is the black people, also it's because "Chink" has more of a Chinese pronunciation you could say, so basically many asians who are not Chinese feel insulted/hurt because there country is forgotten and over-shadowed by China's popularity. So it's ok if a Black person says the word but when a non Black says it while convering the same song, all hell break loose. Can someone explain? No hate please, just trying to understand.
Black people can say it, but if you're not black you cannot. It's used as a racial slur and is extremely racist so pls do not use. Also, if you're brown and you say "brown people are so dumb" as a joke, then it's alright but if a person of another race says it, you'd obviously feel awkward right? Because it's racist.
@@irajsyed1168 I can understand if it’s said in a conversation like your example. It's a cover of a song. I always thought the intent of what was said matters more. Guess I was wrong in this aspect about that word.
For those who don't know what I am talking about. Recently, a 16y Asian girl rap this song in it's original form without changing any words during a performace in her school. Now she is getting all kind of threats. Was made to understand even death threats. I am not condoning her action. Just thought that the reaction was somewhat overboard.
So, using that word in its full spelling in any context is considered not right. But using its abbreviation only (N) is ok? Coz I have seen it used all over social media and no one gets berated for it. Is it ok to address a black person “Hey, you N”? For me, absolutely it is NOT ok because I look at the intent.
Let me ask another question. Again, no hate, just to understand. What is the motivation and/or intent of some black artists having that word in their composition? A slur is a slur no matter who says it.
I have seen this question in other forums and the most common answer is “Blacks are allowed to use it, non-blacks can’t” without any explanation. However, someone said non-blacks using it will “perpetuate harmful stereotypes and undermines efforts towards inclusivity”. So, blacks using it will have the opposite effect?
Global superstars like Nicki M have huge influence. They have power. However, power comes with responsibility. Their fans are likely to repeat the words they put out. Knowing full well, non-blacks can’t openly sing any song that has the word without being torn down, isn’t it a subtle form of discrimination by the artist? It’s like the artist saying, “You non-blacks are not welcome to sing my song”. IMO, if an artist doesn’t want people to sing an offensive word, shouldn't it be excluded in their music? I want to add that not all black artist has the word in their songs.
While I think it’s hypocritical to sing a word and then tear down a non-black who has sung the very same word in the original context it was sung, I stand to be corrected and educated on this.
Guess it is what it is. Will be really interesting to know why some black artists include that word in their song in the first place? Is it a form of artistic expression?

@@sweehinong9514 back in the day the n word was used by slave owners to call their slaves (which were obviously black people). So it doesn't take a genius to realize why that word isn't acceptable to say. The question lots of people have- why can black people say the n word? Because saying the word is just insulting themselves so it's fine, but if any other race were to say it that would be a problem because of the meaning behind the word. Why do black artists include n words in their songs? I'm not sure about that but it's not that hard to just NOT SAY THE WORD. Ahyeon definetly needs to apologize to prove that she's not racist.
