How to Make Genie Pants - DIY I Dream of Jeannie Costume - Harem Pants / Belly Dancer Pants

- It takes a fair bit of fabric to make these pants, as they need to be extra wide. I didn't want my pants to be see-through, so rather than having to purchase 20 yards of chiffon, I simply chose to layer the chiffon over a layer of satin. It saved me dollars, and probably a lot of struggling with multiple layers of somewhat unruly chiffon as well. While it does change the drape a bit, since the satin is much stiffer than chiffon, since I was using it for a Jeannie costume, they didn't need to look perfect, as they're quite recognizable with the costume. If you intend to use your pants for actual belly dancing, you may want to use a fabric with more give or drape.

Dark pink fabric for waistband (I cut up an old dress for mine)
Needle and thread or sewing machine
