As a Dutch man and fellow you-big-hairy-bastard living near Shligo, I must say the diminutive (-een) and the stacking of words are very much what we do in the Netherlands as well. Still I picked up many tips and yet more laughs from this jam-packed-with-goodness video. I don't subscribe much but I'm now a subscriber here 😄👌🏻
I feel so much more cultrually aware where I finally get to visit Ireland. Should I review the towns I wish to visit to make sure I have a haircut that blends in?? Are tracksuits more of a national dress:? would I be appropriating if I also wore a tracksuit (and ate chips)
I’m a lifelong Chicagoan, but up da wesht and da culchies! 😉❤️ Clare and da west are always my favorite places to visit, as a trad musician. As for Mayo, Achill is da besht! Oh, and my nickname’s Woolyhead (see photo!) 😂🐑
I have connection to Killala just outside of Ballina my family hail from Lettermacaward co Donegal, but I had friends in mayo and I loved visiting it really is a beautiful part of the country. Killala bay just bloody stunning so it is.
I blew into Mayo 3 yrs ago and quickly picked up that the correct way to say West, Westport, Sligo etc as Wesht, Weshtport, Shligo, etc. Tis a beautiful language
You could dramatise the small house a bit more by saying look at that poke of a house you wouldn’t swing a cat in it. Us Irish like to dramatise every situation 😂😂😂
My Brother-in-law was born in Ireland and the family moved to South East Londin when he was three and he now has a really strong cockney accent but his younger brother was born 5 years later in South East London and has a thick Irish accent, work that out, their Dar's favourite saying was two-fold, "Wouldja look at that nohwll" or if he had visited the local watering hole it would be "Bejaasus now, woodja be lookin at daht nohwll!" And he might have slipped in a begorra if he felt the need!
Irish-Americans are not "really Irish" because all of the Irish who fled Ireland, the vast majority fled to the USA.Once in America the Irish established Irish Newspapers, an Irish cultural identity, and even raised armies to fight the British. In fact of all of the world's Irish Diaspora most of them are Irish-Americans. There are now more little girls learning Irish dance in the USA than there are people currently living in the Irish Republic. Of all the peoples on earth who speak Irish, the second largest group is in the USA. There are more Irish pubs in the USA than there are in Ireland. There are more musical groups playing Irish music in the USA than there are in Ireland. There are only about 6 million folks in Ireland who have Irish ancestry and there are 35 million Americans who claim Irish ancestry. So, as you can clearly see the Irish-Americans are clearly not "really Irish". We know this because logically if a Kerryman moves to Dublin, he instantly becomes a Dubliner and everyone in Dublin clearly recognizes this as a fact and never would suggest that he isn't really a Dubliner, right?
Garron, i think you are great craic but I also think you are overdoing the cursing and swearing a bit. It doesn't do you any favours especially when you are in full flight.
I was for you, Garron, in the beginning of your You Tube appearances, when you were funny, but you have abused your perceived acceptance of the occasional filthy language you use as a gimmick. Now your use of unrestrained expletives has gotten out of hand and I'm not watching your videos any longer. It seems your use of filthy language has increased as you are running out of quality material to present.
I lost a much loved Aunt a few years ago, she was originally from Mayo. This man bizarrely brings me so much comfort and I hate cursing.
Must be tough going if you hate cursing!
Did you ever find her?
@@blackferdinand2260 what the hell that's messed up

Too funny for words. My Leitrim cousins grew up with a woman who was very tall. Their nickname for her was "Reach for the Moon"! Absolutely perfect!
Gway you long tracksuit oh how true 😂😂😂
LOL I don’t think any of us can reach your level of poetic 😂
The living language.😂
You are such a tonic here in wet and windy east Scotland.
Absolutely hilarious !!!!
Sligo boy! We're practically cousins!! 😂
I really want to spice up my English with an Irish touch but it is so hard to focus on the lesson with that handsome face in front of me 🥲❤.

Did you ever write for the TV series Father Ted? 😊
Thanksh for explaining! I've been wondering.
Never been to mayo but you make me want to visit.
Ohmygawd, you're funny!
When I was taking Irish language at St.Marys U. in Halifax,N.S. my friends thought I was learning how to speak English with an Irish accent.
You make everybody want to be Irish.
Man I didn't understand a thing you just said but it sure was entertaining 😂
Loving how pissed you are here 😂😂😂
Pissed means drunk in Ireland. Pissed off is angry
Just so funny im a dub but would be adopted by mayo anytime
Ah, turning adjectives into verbs. Advanced wordplay, my delicious sir.

Yeo, sure just a lot of carry on left behind by the irish speakers
Shout-out to Ballyfermot
😂😂
West of Ireland has so much "culture" in common with the west of Scotland.
I think it has something to do with "Drink!", "Women!", "Feck!", but I can't be sure. I'm not good with accents and shite.
The best thing that ever came out of Mayo was the road to Dublin 😋
So when you say Shite you are really saying Site with a Weshtern spin on it. Ok, I think I'm getting the hang of it.
tiny wee houseee
OMG HOUSEEN ÍN IS FOR SMALL IN IRISH LOL THATS EVERYONES THING
See U ..talk de shite...Ur sum bollixeen. ❤
The brutal truth
So how would the Irish insult a brother who manipulates the parents without the parents knowing it's an insult?
Don't change your accent for us - no need to translate!
Most expletives sound best in the original scots.
Well no....they left their mark here in Donegal....that's why we sound like we from Scotland or doing a really bad Scottish accent 🙈
As Billy Connolly once said, The Scots are just Irish people who got lost in the rain.

I could learn to play the didgeridoo but that wouldn't make me an aborigine
