Leontyne Price sings "Libera me" from Messa da Requiem by Giuseppe Verdi La Scala Orchestra & Chorus Roberto Benaglio, Chorusmaster Herbert von Karajan, Conductor 1967
After President Kennedy was assassinated, she sang this at the Met and I was there. It was one of the most moving musical experiences I ever had; it was as if Heaven had opened up and we were allowed to hear an angel sing.
All I have to say is SICK!!!!!!!!!!!! Absolutely RIDICULOUS!!!!!!! She is an unparalleled GODDESS! If you are a voice major and don't study her work, you should be slapped to sleep! Sopranos like these come once every blue moon. Effortless perfection! Thank you, Ms. Price, so much for giving the world your gift.
Leontyne Price - undeniably one of the best voices of her generation....but for me, she had the best eyes in the business! You look into her eyes and see the face of God - while hearing His voice. An almost inhuman combination.

There are many very good, even excellent, opera singers at present, but greatness comes along only once in a while. That is why she is such a treasure!
That's not what is admirable, it's quite common for professional singers and instrumentalists. What is incredible is her music making and vocal technique. Memorization is small pickle in comparaison.
Chapeau bas!
I picture the angels heads bowed in silent worship whilst she sings her solo after 4:40. I burst into tears as I tried to write this. Heaven is going to be something worth the grace expended. Truly hope to see you all there.
