- I have 7 hrs on the new ride now and have been working on getting the AER forks running right and seem to have them feeling better now as of today. I came off a 17' TE300 carbed and this bike is quite different. The EX is the X country model so has the close ratio gearbox, AER forks and some other minor differences. Glad to report that it can go through the more technical terrain with a tad more effort than the trail models.
The good:
Brembo brakes are good and feel just like the Husky
The crisp power is good, and throttle responsive, albeit that low end is off by a touch (compared to a carb)
Transmission is well spaced, I prefer this over the wide ratio
Well thought out for servicing (ie air filter)
Feels light (XC models a bit lighter due to AER fork, no headlight)
The bad:
The AER forks have been an adjustment period, they got a new mid valve in 2021 MY which is good, but it takes some playing with PSI and clickers to get them feeling good in the slower choppy stuff ( I am at 130 psi, and 26 out on compression, 18 out on rebound) but it feels good now.
I don't believe the 8.5 L gas tank is going to give me the 100km my TE300 (with a 10L tank) would
The seat is not very sticky
Idle is pretty low I will have to do the idle air screw upgrade, this has caused me some stalls and power off the bottom can be richened (A/F) with this mod
My gear doesn't match :(
Most that stuff can be fixed with mods or upgrades so not to worried.
Great review. Been seeing Int'l putting a lot more of these GasGas bikes out in the last 6 months. They are VERY well priced.
Now that’s a slick ride 🤙🏻
Time to introduce it to Seagle
Nice bike!
Seems like the air fork worked pretty well in that tight rocky/woods terrain. Did you feel beat up at the end or is it a non issue? Thx
The bars are a lower rise than my TE so I have ordered some Pro Taper EVO stock Husky bend. That is what is causing me a tad fatigue, not the suspension
I'm looking at the 2023 250 EX, 300EX, but every video I see is the same type terrain. Slow bog, tight rocky terrain. I prefer to ride in a more open trail, where I can get on it with a bit more speed and agility. I'm still unsure thinking maybe I want the MC250 or perhaps the MC300. I grew up on Motorcross bikes with big power bands and not sure if the EX has that kind of capability,
The EX are designed for that, I just ride it in areas where it's not really designed for. The EX is the cross country model
These are on sale here in BC Canada right now for quite a savings....but Id prefer the ec me thinks
That’s why I bought it, I am in the lower mainland. Enjoying the bike so far, it is different from my TE which I still have.
@@SingleTrackTherapy i missed out, i actually thought it was a scam! Seems below cost....very out of the ordinary
You could ride it for a year and sell it for what you paid....give or take
Did you consider sherco or beta?
I did , but the deal was too good, I did try a Beta and it felt off ergonomically to me as I have been on Husky's for a while now
F***... I wish I could flow that fast, or at least have the energy to try by the time I get anywhere notable on that mountain 😂
My riding played at 3x isn't that fast.
Doesn't look like those AER forks will hold you back 👌🏻
Cheers, I think you're riding is good man! We should get the Gas Gas's out together one day before the summer is gone. Hit me up on your next group ride.
