Anyone SHOULD be "scared' in combat (I know, have been there myself). So it's not being sacred that's the issue, it's what you while while being scared: Do you do your duty or not? The Russians continue to advance, even if slowly. At best the Ukrainains hold the line but at some point they can't do that any longer and continue to retreat. And that pattern continues over and over again. So presently (and lately), which side is winning this war, despite being "scared?" The Russians are.
BTW, I'm not pro-Russian, I'm just stating battlefield map facts, not personal opinions.
