Guys, not every fade has to be stretched out and light towards the top. I see that a lot of European barbers tend to leave more weight towards the top, and to be honest I like the look a lot. It is mainly to keep a square shape, and to keep enough length on the sides so that they lay down in a classic manner. In this instance, Dave has cut a heavy/weighted fade on the guy, and fair play because it actually suits him. There are going to be different types of cuts depending on where the barber is from and what he is accustomed to. So leave it, you don't have to bicker all over beardbrand. Not everyone wants some stretched out fade that leaves no length on the sides. Good job Dave.

coming from a UK barber, most of clients i do that have a skin fade will ask to have a heavy blend opposed to a regular fade and i assume a lot of other UK barbers will say the same, so don’t hate the barbers work he was most likely following the clients request

@Beardbrand constructive criticism ... You guys taught me great things when it comes to cutting with Shears.. if I could help this barber, I would say to bring your bald guide down some and give yourself room to blend all your guides evenly.. you can still create the same beautiful silhouette you created but it would have been a lot easier on the eye.. especially when you showed your client his haircut from the back with the hand mirror.. however there are great things to learn from this video.. keep up the great work barber.

I guess a comb over “pompadour” is a very common hair cut in the “uk” . Different style of cutting , can’t knock it from them . Always good to see different styles . I also agree with the way they blend the “fade” some of them leave a visible line but I guess that’s how they were trained . .

people seem to not under stand that fades drop fades and weight lines differ from client to client and cut to cut. one thing is not better than the other, they are different. As a licensed Master Barber i can tell you that this is the problem within our industry. People arguing about what real barbering is when it isn't just one thing. this is why cosmetology is charging 78$ for a regular cut and there are shops in the us still charging 25$ That is an actual traditional mens haircut just like a high and tight, or a flat top, all scissor cut pompadour etc etc. Stop hating

Just because there's a heavy weight line, does not mean it doesn't qualify as a fade. Just because your barber fades your hair a particular way does not mean it's the only way. If you don't like the way the barbers cut hair on this channel, simply don't watch it. People and their one dimensional thinking.

their “fades” doesn’t look like a fade bc they’re guidelines aren’t big enough

You gave that guy a mean chili bowl. No real blend on the fade. I was more interested in the guy that was cutting next to you. Your shear work was really good and you have a very nice aesthetic way about you. Must be the only reason your on the channel tho. Work on the fade and balding faster and you would be on the top of the game.

The fade was ehhhh 😕 I feel like barbers here in the US are better at fades and clipper work and UK barbers are better at scissor work

I think this fade is nice for men who have a thin hair or like very strsight hair more like asian

  • @davidanes

The guy's hair is thick and straight which is basically every asian's hair. The barber understands the hair type and how the side hair behaves as it grows. He has to leave it longer in order slick it back.

It's the client's choice but he looked better before. Just needed to tidy up the neck a little bit.

I think everyone agrees the fade had the cramps too tight not a tight enough blend to carry the fade trough properly through to the top great techniques i will using but the bald line should have veen set in lower to give him room to work ive done this. Apreciate the tips and tricks with thinning shears still a struggle for me personally.

By “point two (0.2)” do you mean ‘use the half guard’ and by “point two five (0.25)” do you mean ‘use the quarter guard’?
These terms maybe common but, unnecessarily confusing for some people

I understood that he was trying to keep a lot of the length and bulk on the sides but that fade was not ideal. As a barber yes, we have to give the customer what they ask for, but there would have been no harm in taking even a bit of scissor over comb on the sides to graduate that from being sick a thick hard line and maybe even taking the fade ever do slightly lower would have helped significantly. It's always better to start a fade lower than you want it to be
