real old school hard man this video keeps coming up on my reccomandion and its sad now to watch his clips after hes passed away but without a dought this guy was 1 hard man
"but without a dought this guy was 1 hard man..." I once heard Roy Shaw claim that in his prime and while locked up in prison, he once "ripped his prison door off of its hinges", while in a rage. I shit you not, that's what I once heard him say. I'll always remember that claim and (even though I did t know him, remember Roy Shaw for that because...........I do believe him.
I didnt know Roy personally but i was staying in a Hotel in Birmingham around 2009-10 and spotted him in reception all suited up, i dont know why but i just wanted to say hello and shake his hand, He couldnt have been nicer to me , Respect Roy
When Roy is standing there with his two rotties by each side. There is no human on this planet that would be stupid enough to challenge them. That was the epitome of strength..
I dont normaly like these gangster/ tough guys but roy did come over as being alrite. just seems very genuine. get the impression he lived life in the moment. very much like a what u see is what u get type of person.
Yeah i agree. I dont think he was wicked like some of the other gangland guys and he deffo wasnt a bully like big Lenny. He was just a very hard dude who had a tough upbringing. People call him a psycopath. He was probably more likely a sociopath coz he was more pissed off after a bad life than out and out wickedness.
jazza0007spy spot on. I am 27 and he is A LOT stronger then me. He was racking the weights there, I can life 50kg on shoulders he was just doing 110kg like it was easy lol
Roy probably read Maya Angelou every Morn before the sun rose. Then he had a go at baking for the neighborhood children. You should have seen how jacked he looked in a pink flowery apron.
Everything turned out really well in the end for a guy who started out a criminal thug, had spells in prison and Broadmoor asylum became an unlicensed prize fighter and renowned underworld figure.
Liam, I grew up in Luton during the late 60's & 70's, the town had its share of hard men including Charles Bronson & Cliff Field over in Dunstable. I knew one or two hard men in my youth & despite being friends never felt 100% comfortable in their company. I could always sense impending violence & felt that I never really knew them at all. Did you ever get this feeling when interviewing some of the guys you've met over the years? Your video's are great & capture a moment in time that is fast disappearing. These great characters were larger than life & many are no longer with us.
That's great you like my stuff - my rule with most of these guys if I was out and about with them was to leave around 11ish as the mood often changed & you don't want to rub people up the wrong way by keep filming. I have enjoyed filming these videos but you have to be polite and respectful. Cheers enjoyed your post
Like Roy Shaw & Lenny McLean, Cliff is no longer with us. Following a stroke & a period of ill health Cliff passed away in 2010. Cliff didn't have the PR or personality of Shaw or McLean but he was without doubt the best fighter to ever grace an unlicensed arena. Roy Shaw said that Cliff was the real deal & called him the true Guvnor. Praise indeed!
@711 LOL,I would not feel confortable with maniacs, small IMPREDICTABLE murdereus men like Joe Pesci, why are you laughing ? Am I a clown ? I think it was GOOD FELLAS
Cliff Fields was a gent. I used to drink with him in The Wheatsheaf when I was just a teenager in the early 80’s. I was a right cocky little fucker and he taught me some manners... Nicely. He never really spoke much about his fights with Lenny & co.. I got locked up in Dunstable nick with him overnight when we were pissed & rowdy. He fuckin stank! Top man. Sorry to hear of his death.
Liam, I met Alex Stein a few times at boxing events but cant seem to find anything on YT about his life , unmistakable in his dark glasses, would be nice to hear more about him, cheers
I had 2 rotts which did the same thing his dogs did when he was putting his face down to kiss them, they would growl, show teeth but neither 1 of them bit me... greatest family protectors. I would play with my kids and they would call 4 help and either 1 of them would come after me like I was going to hurt them. GREAT DOGS...NEVER HAD EITHER 1 OF THEM ON LEASH BOTH WERE TRAINED AND I WALKED THEM THROUGH THE NEIGHBORHOOD
@William You should hear my rotts whe the rest of the pack (I have 4 mongrels) start kissing I mean licking them in the eyes, ears, they GROWL and they are happy.
I loved Roy " Pretty boy " Shaw. Such a top geezer. Him and Lenny will never be forgotten, just like Big Joey Pyle always gonna be remembered as legends.
@@LiamGalvinFilm It's a shame you never got to do one on Albert Reading that would have bein something.. The one on shaw and mad frank are mustard well done Liam..
Hi Liam I can put you in touch with Kev paddock one of the only men to have fought Roy and Lenny . Roy had his last fight against kev he lives in Southampton would be an interesting interview with some one no one else has documented . Great channel and I love the clips keep them coming in 2019 and keep up the great work 👊🏻
Absolutely gorgeous Rottweilers, although they look overweight and a bit unhealthy,I don't think they saw much exercise, bless them.I have two myself and they need a lot of exercise to keep them healthy. Most loyal dogs in the world.
@loomin I also have 2 - now they are almost 10 - I hope to get them to 12/14 - with good food and stuff. Still... it will be a tragedy when they die. Trouble is we consider them like children even if they are as big as a human, and children are not supposed to die. Whatever, take care Jeanie.
a perfect gentle man . never hear him swear or raise his voice . not bitter about all the jail he has done . which is fucking loads . respectfull to women . a mans man . also what a sense a humour .
@Marshall Carwood No - by real man, he means he could have it with his hands rather than a tool, even as an old man.....and whilst he never claimed to be have been the sharpest, he was still still smart enough to have still had a few quid and property around him when he died, and very well respected too.
A lot of people talk shit about this mans generation. But none of us really know what it was like in that time unless you lived it. If you had a problem, you'd fight it out. May the best man win. This is how these men made a living and these men did a lot better in life than a lot of straight people i know. So before you talk bolloks about shaw, lenny mclean or anybody from that time. Have a look at your life and think if you were back then could you be as successful and respected as these men were? Probably not.
It amazes me when people call them 'devil dogs' it's a film, not a reality show. Those dogs in The Omen have been riled by their trainer to be like that. 🎥🐾🐾
Lol like my learned friend said .1 a the few videos.where the owner is more scarier than the dogs .lol .Good on ya roy .A TRUE GENTLEMAN .NEVER SWORE OR RAISED HIS VOICE .ESPECIALY IN FRONT A WOMEN .ROY WESALUTE YOU .RIP .
Liam Galvin I really liked how you handled the interview, non judgmental and neutral it was really good not hero worshipping or putting words in his mouth it was a good balance. I just wondered did Roy Shaw go to a gym as well ? or just weights indoors I remember on Hard Bastards Roy Shaw was in a gym hitting pads.
Thanks mate - I try to do exactly as you say non judgmental & neutral - I'm just there to hear what these guys have to say - yes Roy used to go to the gym too - really appreciate you watching our stuff cheers
This is probably the only video of Rottweilers where the owner is scarier than the dogs lol.

True Dat brother!!
Given the choice ... I'd rather be attacked by Roy - the 2 rotts wouldnt stop until you're dead.

true hard man if things where different he could have been world middle weight champ
Not in a million years
Not a chance, not enough technical boxing skills. One hard man in a ruck though, and anyone that knows anything knows a ruck ain’t no boxing match.
Absolutely- if he could have just stayed out of prison he’d have been far too good for Sugar Ray Robinson.
No chance.
