Maori don't own the land nor do pakeha, it was here before yous arrived. The question is who's contributed the most with in the time frame of arrival till the present day? We have to evolve with time not sit stagnant change is inevitable.

"The French are coming to take our land" That is the "bases and reason" James Busby got the far North Chiefs (It wasn't "their" idea!!) to sigh a document called He Wakaputanga. They could even come together and form a sensible government and form laws. The Chief were too engrossed in war and utu!! Their only contribution was to choose a flag. And that was Busby idea as well. Shipping trading in early NZ, needed a flag (to define the country) to trade!! This guy is talking hog wash
The actual story is Maoridom ceded sovereignty for equality, read the whole document put it together and that is what you get and it is the only thing that could have been arrived then. Nothing has changed since. There hasn’t been another treaaty signed has there ?
Bloke for your statement that maori ceded sovereignty is like you telling your neighbour that you have a signed doccument that says you are now owner to his house and you now have governance over his wife snd kids ,and no matter what he has in his yard now belongs to you,,,I'll bet he'll fight you tooth and nail to get that note annulled,,,and just like our tipuna ,,,we continue to fight ,no one who owns any piece of land gives up the freedom of that place without a fight ,,,just giving an entire country away just because someone had a great deal ,,,that doesn't make sense at all,,,,,none
@jamescrydeman540 Why would maori cede sovereignty to an unruly bunch of convicts, the deal was Tino Rangatiratanga for kawanatanga, & what part in that DOI says we cede sovereignty? still hasn't been confirmed in any court. This govt & it's policy enforcers have powers that are only conferred. They are lawless & have no constitution, & no trade flag, no rights to make any laws...once again took our mindfulness as another opportunity to steal, as this document was also put in place for the colonials to keep their drunk & disorderly misfits in line..
@@Tru-k4d Māori never had sovereignty to cede. They had occupancy alone. Māori societal development was at the stone age stage, did not even have the capability of recording anything in writing. There were no political structures to create a government or any of its agencies, courts etc, and of courser there was no sovereign. The sovereign that came later, after the treaty was third choice, the Rangatira of Ngati Porou and Ngati Tuwharetoa both having declined the role, and was recognised by a minority of Iwi. No you never had sovereignty to cede so it isn’t going to be proven in court. The convicts were for next door.

They never had sovereignty to cede, they had occupancy on the same basis as the latter day occupants. Maoridoms anthropology had none of the structures in place to ever had had sovereignty. At the Europeans arrival Māori development had not progressed yet to having characters to represent language, an abreviated aural alphabet.

I totally understand it as I come in my ancestors steps! & I will hard out honor He whakaputunga 1835
Don't ask the government for funding. Don't ask them for anything! There's a very heavy ball on the end of that chain ......

Absolutely on point. This is too much telling of the defacto Nz corporation story.
thanks Robert
