- "Nothing Personal"
Allan Holdsworth: Guitar
Alan Pasqua: Keyboards
Jimmy Haslip: Bass
Chad Wackerman: Drums
April 14, 2006, Milano, Italy
In 2006 and 2007 Allan reunited with his old Tony Williams Lifetime bandmate Alan Pasqua. A CD and DVD came out of that period ("Blues For Tony", "Live At Yoshi's"), but here is a tune not included on those releases: "Nothing Personal", a tune off of Michael Brecker's 1987 album. Allan had wanted to record with Brecker but sadly the timing had never worked out. Fortunately this blues format gives an idea of what might have been a starting point had such a collaboration happened.

The funky swing everybody is locked in from the start, driven by Wackerman, is addictive af
This tune was actually written by Don Grolnik
Allan's playing is insanely good. Untouchable. He's my favourite sax player & he does it on guitar.
Saw him six times between 1979 & 2007
The ever expanding
The inimitable genius Alan and the ever trusting musicians who equally smash these tunes.
Hes got such an incredible sound on his guitar this night.
I noticed that. So rich & not fuzzy
Enigmatic cosmic music 🌟🎶🎵🙏🏼✨

wow, allan was definitely lost on the first half of his solo, and just nailed that last round, lol. chad's solo is nuts
Not lost to my ears. In fact typically completely on.
@@David-mw3sbAllan Holdsworth was never "lost" during a solo, certainly not here. The failure there was entirely with the listener.
Michael would turn in his grave if he thought you'd credited one of Don Grolnick's greatest songs to him. They were close personal friends and Don was Michael's mentor.
Other than that, Allan's playing rocks and really captures Don Grolnick's harmonic sensibilities, but Chad's drumming is frankly wooden, despite Alan Pasqua's best efforts to get him to swing. A mixed bag.
