Curious if you have any track time on the Briggs World Formula motor? World Formula seems like the next logical step up from L206 racing. I wish the World Formula came factory sealed like the L206 though.
No I don’t. Have sometime on a super stock and I think that is a better engine but just to practice with. I like the seal on the 225 they just need to fix somethings is all
Great review. 206 is where it’s at for me. I have raced in all kind of Motorsport from supercross, jet skis to shifter karts. The best thing about 206 racing is the level playing field and not someone having big $$ winning.
Your fade is clean as hell brother. I recently stumbled across the tillotson 225 and knew very little about it prior to listening to the vlog. I don’t believe it will ever replace Briggs. It may pop up occasionally at the club level, probably not going to become a regional or national level class. I would be interested in seeing if the Laptimes are faster with the 225 compared the lo206 as well. It should be a bit faster if it truly has 15hp. It sounds like tillotson has noticeable bugs to work out.
At Orlando the Tillotson is about 1.8 seconds faster a lap when you run them hard. The way they were geared for the endurance race they were a second slower a lap. At the club level I think it’s fun but nothing more.
I have a 225 and a 206. My 206 put down lap times of 36 seconds while the tillotson would take the times down to a 33 second lap. Overall top speed was only about 5 mph faster but acceleration and torque was much higher
You might want to clarify that you are specifically talking about the Tillotson 225RS and not the Tillotson 212RS. With AKRA’s announcement lately, many are confusing the 225 and 212 engines that are very different.
@@JaMRacing - Are you really underestimating the ability of people to be confused? Not everyone is going to know that you did a complete series of videos on the 225RS. They are going to simply search for Tillotson vs Briggs and/or 206 and jump to conclusions. Even AKRA’s clear statements that they are talking about the 212RS, an overwhelming large amount of people are already confusing the 2 so it’s incredibly easy to get confused if you don’t say anything about which engine in the vacuum of a single video.
As a young adult looking for a cheap way to race karts. There still is not a better option then Briggs. To this day I race my first motor I have ever bought after two years and I have not had a single problem with it.
I have both 225RS and LO206. Been using on the same CRG FS4 chassis and CRG KT2. In the racetrack near my home the 225RS will get 2 seconds faster (with a 7500rpm PVL ignition) at the moment I have the 225RS boxed and stored, and I’m using 2 LO206 just because the 225 it’s terrible to start (I mean TERRIBLE, even when it’s warmed the LO206 focos start its better). I tried address this to engine supplier, they shipped another fm22 carb and same thing. The thing about a 4 stroke is the simplicity, reliability, etc. 225’s in Europe had a pretty good start with lot of chassis, engines, their championship. But people in Europe are going for animal now, it’s a platform more then proved in the USA and quality it’s overall better. If anybody have a question about one or another, just remember we (Europe) started with Hondas (and clones) then the tillies and at the moment people are moving to animal, fact. Regards from Portugal!
A handful of us are thinking about starting a senior heavy Tillotson class at OKC. I’m still on the fence about it. I’m definitely going to keep my AEM but may sell my GT Machine and pick up a Tilly and have the option of running it in a couple of races and seeing if it’s something I like. But honestly watching everyone else struggling to get the Tilly started at the track is one of the things that concerns me the most. I don’t have the patience dealing with something you’d think should start within a few pulls. I really don’t understand why…it’s spark and fuel and my thought leans towards a shitty carb design. For now, Briggs has my vote. My kart and push mower both start pretty much on the first pull every time. Tillotson seriously needs to figure their starting issue out.
Starting issues with 225rs are serious! I just boxed and stored mine because I have no patience to pull that cord one more time. We tried all sort of stuff, only thing seems to improve start it’s to enrich idle, then “reset” position while it’s on (dodgy in 4 stroke). Everybody thinks different, I don’t care about being 2secs faster with a Tilly if I am 10 min to get it started. Regards
I bought a Briggs and Stratton world formula with a big valve head , makuni carb and chrome f and b pipe for $900. I was thinking of selling it . I’m a California Los Angeles if anyone is interested.

That’s exactly how I feel about it.

How can people get confused when the whole build up was the 225RS

Thank you for the insight. It’s awesome that you’re watching and putting in the input.

I had a chance to drive a kart with both engines. Big difference in power. 225rs ftw
My tillitson 225 is extremely hard to start

Very well said.
One issue I had with my tillotson was the stock fuel pump had failed early on within 4 races. But after replacing it hasnt had any problems
