I definitely had higher expectations from the Imagineers, but I can’t be mad because those animatronics look clean and smooth 🤷🏾♀️😌 and I’m just happy Tiana has a ride.
The Good: - The shrink section is pretty clever, especially having the drop represent shrinking - Some really nice colors, especially in the lower levels The Bad: - No focus or plot. "Let's find some animals for the band! Let's find some animals for the band! Let's find some more animals for the band! Great, we found animals for the band!" Even Winnie the Pooh has the Heffalump and Woozles section. - A lot of the scenes are too empty - The screen effects and animatronics do not mesh together. The 2D screens are alright, but the 3D ones are downright uncanny valley. - NO BUILDUP ON THE FINAL DROP. This is former Splash Mountain, not Slightly Damp Hill. Braving the final drop was a rite of passage to me as a kid, not just "some drop on some ride".
Now like the old Disneyland Splash mountain use to be. Very light on the story. I suspect the two will be much more similar now (although DL is a faster flume).
Sanitised fun. No darkness, no drama, no danger. Only endless, struggle free positivity. “We’re going to the party, by way of giant drop.” Still beautifully themed for a log flume.

I know the guy is dead (?) in the movie and this is supposed to be set after that, but imagine how cool a spooky section with Facilier could have been. An awesome animatronic like those on the video combined with projections/light effects to simulate his living shadow, some trippy voodoo visuals and also his friends from the other side moving and manipulating stuff, while the chants and chorus of his song play on the background. This is cute but feels too saccharine and pointless at times.

Japan is getting their Beauty and the Beast castle, a whole new area with beautiful exciting rides filled with lively animatronics and good story telling, creating a very good immersion like entering a new magical world. And….this is what Americans get. What is this? Did people in the US pay less than those in Japan? NOOOOO!! And this is what the company thinks people in America deserve. All the love and care for this doo-doo kiddy ride with no stakes and thrills. FLAT, non-moving Painting of Vegetables and cooking tools on the fence, and didn’t even at least glow in the night. Am I loosing my mind?! Who did they hire for the storyline and the environment? All the empty spaces and places in the dark. All those FNAF 1 level of animatronics other than the Main characters. All those dead props that’s not even moving or fun to look at. Did they hire people from Temu? What on earth is this? And Tiana is barely a princess in this ride, while her husband, the prince barely shows up except the last grand scene. What is this? “The Force is female”is not enough, now we’re going with “the FROG is FEMALE”? Also, where is the shadow man? And why aren’t the main characters temporarily turned into frogs? The movie is Princess and the ‘FROG’!! I did see frozen landscapes in Frozen rides, but why not main characters frogs in this? And where’s the river boat? The river boat is an important scene in the original movie, and now they removed it to turn it into a generic stupid looking building? A restaurant on a river boat, or a food party on a river boat, are good ideas. Why not keep the boat? River boat is important to where the story happened, and they removed it in the name of diversity and inclusivity? What is this logic? The same logic as the Snow White remake, removing the dwarves actors to make people with dwarfism happy? At least give us back the voodoo dude0. What is the fun without him? Tiana deserves a lot more than this, but now we can’t do anything big to renew or upgrade this ride. It is stuck like this, for likely many years, because it is Augh-ffensive to twitter dwellers to change what they think is perfect. Tiana deserves to be a princess. She earned it by risking her life and made hard choices. Look what they have done to our precious girl? Now she’s barely a princess in this story. She’s just a girl who cosplays as a princess in the grand scene, because she barely does anything princess related in the story. Putting on princess dress doesn’t make one a princess. It is the action of princess that maters the most.
Looks like a fun ride for new and younger families that know the Princess and the Frog movie. I liked all the little animal animatronics! Thanks for sharing!
I was really hoping for a Dr. Facilier scene, he is one of my favorite Disney villains, and I feel like they could have made a really neat area with his song
We have seen Disney do great ride rethemes before, such as Tower of Terror into Guardians, but that is because Guardians added something new They should have added more movie plot elements and more characters such as Dr. Facilier and Prince Naveen
Even cheaper/lazier than we were lead to expect. So much Screen use/abuse, but OK for a non discriminating five year old or a 'Disney Adult' I guess.....

Dr. Facilier was taken to the other side at the end of the movie. It would make no sense story-wise to have him in a sequel ride. There's nothing wrong with having a light-hearted story that little ones can enjoy without getting scared.
@@MysTaeryColorful A few things: 1. Even if Facilier is dead in this storyline, he still has plenty of Friends From the Other Side that could still make an appearance. They had an amazing way to introduce dramatic tension to the story and somehow didn't. 2. This is the same company that retconned Emperor Palpatine back into existence "somehow", surely they could find some kind of excuse to use him if they wanted to (Shrek 4D had the ghost of Farquaad). 3. This is a flume ride with a 50 foot drop. It has something that is objectively going to be rather scary for little kids. Not having any darker story tones to build up the drop completely defeats the purpose of having a big drop on a ride like this, and makes it feel completely out of place.
I have never seen a ride stack boats so badly throughout its course like this. Quite possibly the worst operation of a Disney attraction I've ever seen. The scenes having no overarching plot or conflict at any point makes it terribly boring and uneventful, and there's no storytelling. The ride itself, the animatronics and all of the visuals are wonderful. The music is lovely. But the experience as a whole is very underwhelmingly monotone. It's a flop for what Disney is capable of, but even so, kids will still absolutely love this.
@@daytonsouthall1137 No I’m plenty familiar with the movie. It just looks so empty at times (after the dark drop that used to go underneath Brer Bear, the neon portion) . You’re assuming that I have an issue with the theming because I don’t like/don’t know the movie. My issue is that I knew the previous ride so we’ll that any empty space is super obvious. It’s like Disney phoned in the job, they could’ve added so much more throughout the ride. tl;dr: Great idea, poor execution.

Let’s explore the bore. I can’t wait to see what ride Disney ruins next but at least I won’t be at all tempted to spend hundreds on a ticket. Maybe they can add lights and brakes to Space Mountain and theme it after… something not offensive.
Ok so, to be fair, BOTH companies have an equal amount of hits and misses. I mean, Disney on one side in the last 5 years: Rise of the Resistance, Runaway Railway, Guardians, TRON, all of Fantasy Springs, Zootopia, etc.... Universal in the last 5 years: Velocicoaster, Villain Con, Super Nintendo World. And yes, while you can look at Epic, it's also not open yet. Some of the rides look fantastic, but I will say some of them DO look "questionable." I would say it is totally unfair to claim Universal is wiping the floor with Disney. If anything, both parks are offering really strong new attractions, but not everything is a home run.
Wow! So cool :) Loved they added songs from the movie especially Dig a Little Deeper and Going Down the Bayou! The projections at the end and right before the drop were great. Can't wait for it to open at Disneyland. Thanks for posting this :)
I love it! People can whine cry and scream all they want. It will be a fun ride once people get used to it. I think people need to be more open minded.
For one: Don't trash it without giving it a review of what's good. For example: the ride is excellently done. The animatronics are fluid, very well done, and if you ACTUALLY pay attention, the story is pretty good. And let's not act like splash mountain had a comprehensive story that made sense if you thought about it for more than two seconds. Why do you go to the laughing place? Did you go down there by yourself? The fact is that it was so odd... like it was just a storybook ride that happened to have you on it rather than a story you're apart of. The reason you go small is to find the ingredients, which is SO much better than joining Brer Rabbit I guess? Also: nostalgia isn't a blinder to pretend that song of the south wasn't racist, and the idea to celebrate the ride is... outdated as hell. Also, don't act like you guys wouldn't complain if they used the plot of the movie, because that's the only way you're getting "are you ready" because like... it wouldn't make any real sense. I feel like making a new story is SO much better than just using the old one. I'm sorry, but acting like this ride is bad is just... nostalgia blinded. Also, be careful with your wording: A lot of you are seeming racist as HELL. In summary: shut up, you're 33, go to your job and stop caring so much about fucking Disney.

What an uninspired downgrade. No story, no danger, half empty scenes. It's kinda like a boring ride for toddlers with a drop at the end, they could've made it, you know....... exciting ! Even the theme park vloggers can't hype it up to make it look more exciting because the ride is dull as hell compared to its predecessor lol
I love to see all these fans of Song of the South so disappointed.😅😅😅 old people that are afraid of change. This new theme, look and soundtrack is so much better that the old tired and underlying racsits tails that was Spash Mountain. Wow, this is sad! The USS Tiana shows that Disney has Sunk to a new low. They don't care about quality nor do they think very highly of the Boack Community. To give such a lackluster ride story shows us what they think. Unless they are intentionally trying to put the Black Community in a bad light. Was a Black Princess not good enough for ger own ride and theme/story? But the sheer incompetence of the new Imagineering team is going to destroy Disney and everything it stands for. I guess Standards have left tte building......and has sunk on the USS Tiana. This is what Socialism has done to Disney! It's not over either, other rides will fall too. the animatronics are really impressive and its better than i expected but i really cannot help but feel disappointed with the screens, it looks and feels so lazy especially when we know what disney are capable of with rides such as rise of the resistance using curved screens to make them feel more immersive and less flat and i cant quite put my finger on it but the ride experience overall just doesnt feel right in my opinion. amazing pov though, very much enjoyed it!
And the sad thing is that this is the new normal for Disney because they’re doing budget cuts less of the cool stuff and more of the screens very disappointing on the imagers part seems like the imagers don’t have an imagination anymore especially for the fact that they’re now doing IP only based attractions, there’s no original concept anymore for any rides nothings original anymore, so there’s no imagination that goes into it

Why wouldn't they have used zydeco or cajun music. When the music does have a particular sound, it's more carribean than anything else. There was nothing on the ride that would make me want to ride it over and over like Splash Mountain did. I was really sorry to see Splash Mountain go. but if it was going then I was really wanting the new ride to be a worthy successor, didn't happen.
The first animal band that played "Gonna Take You There" was a Zydeco band. The second band played a Rara version of the song (festive music with origins from Haiti).
I love the animatronics and a lot fo the songs, but I wish that the ride was based on the events of the movie, instead of them coming up with a bland story
Cute. Soulless, but cute. So the whole Adventure was to try to find animals that play music so you can go to a party? That's the story? Disney is supposedly the company with thousands of stories to tell, and this one was about band tryouts? What was the point? What was the story? That animals play music? That fireflies live in the bayou? That screens are apparently better than practical effects? I mean I understand the ride, but I just don't get its purpose. What happened to imagineering?
I mean I'll admit they killed it with the previous 'boat celebration" scene at the end from Splash Mountain but they really dropped the ball with the potential on this one. It looks gorgeous from the outside but the lack of story or presence of danger or conflict that Dr. Facilier could have SO easily provided makes me really think this is a downgrade from a ride that was already so old and outdated.
The finale scene aka the party doesn't have NEAR the festivity of the original Spalsh Mountain showboat. And that song? Yawn. They should have kept the movie's music. That last scene screams for Dig a Little Deeper.
The more and more I watch this the more and more the lack of a story makes this ride look uneventful. Like most of the indoor animatronics are just spouting exposition or playing instruments and nothing else. Where is all the detail with little things happening all around you that you can miss on your first couple of rides? There were so many charming little things that told their own stories littered throughout Splash Mountain along with the better main story the ride was telling.
They should rename it to living with the land featuring Tatiana and her friends of the Bayou and the best part about it is that it got three drops that’s three more entertaining drops than the actual living with the land does
What was wrong with Splash Mountain? It was the most popular ride, it was beautifully themed, great story telling and the most buoyant (pun intended) ending of any ride with Zipitty-do-da. As rides go it was a masterpiece. Sure the ride is the same but we now have an incoherent story and a lot of screens... boring. They fixed something that wasn't broken and we got the expected result. My humble opinion, still love TPRs infectious optimism though.
It was old and outdated with barely -functioning animatronics, based on a movie so offensive to a massive part of the population that it should NEVER have been made into a ride in the first place. It was popular because it was the first ever fully-themed log flume, and the only water ride in a very hot park. The new finale song is just as delightful and catchy, with much more relevant characters that won't make people feel left out.

Now we have a mountain with a random bayou, a lot of empty space, a queue that doesn't look like New Orleans, no jazz version of dig a little dipper, a terrible storyline that doesn't make sense, and a final song that doesn't even come close to Zipitty-do-da. I like princes and the frog and new orleans, but this ride sucks. Disney failed

It’s not bad I was pleasantly surprised that they used a ton of animatronics, rather fluid ones no less Still…there’s not much of a story; couldn’t it have just followed the plot of the movie?
I loved the OG Mountain but I also love the colours and the music of this one, some the tunes on this really are so good and just as toe tapping. I kind of like the positive vibes this gives and great POV as normal and hey You are on Log Flume!

@@daytonsouthall1137 No I’m plenty familiar with the movie. It just looks so empty at times (after the dark drop that used to go underneath Brer Bear, the neon portion) . You’re assuming that I have an issue with the theming because I don’t like/don’t know the movie.
My issue is that I knew the previous ride so we’ll that any empty space is super obvious. It’s like Disney phoned in the job, they could’ve added so much more throughout the ride.
tl;dr: Great idea, poor execution.

Ok so, to be fair, BOTH companies have an equal amount of hits and misses. I mean, Disney on one side in the last 5 years: Rise of the Resistance, Runaway Railway, Guardians, TRON, all of Fantasy Springs, Zootopia, etc.... Universal in the last 5 years: Velocicoaster, Villain Con, Super Nintendo World. And yes, while you can look at Epic, it's also not open yet. Some of the rides look fantastic, but I will say some of them DO look "questionable." I would say it is totally unfair to claim Universal is wiping the floor with Disney. If anything, both parks are offering really strong new attractions, but not everything is a home run.

Wow! So cool :) Loved they added songs from the movie especially Dig a Little Deeper and Going Down the Bayou! The projections at the end and right before the drop were great. Can't wait for it to open at Disneyland. Thanks for posting this :)

For one: Don't trash it without giving it a review of what's good. For example: the ride is excellently done. The animatronics are fluid, very well done, and if you ACTUALLY pay attention, the story is pretty good. And let's not act like splash mountain had a comprehensive story that made sense if you thought about it for more than two seconds. Why do you go to the laughing place? Did you go down there by yourself? The fact is that it was so odd... like it was just a storybook ride that happened to have you on it rather than a story you're apart of. The reason you go small is to find the ingredients, which is SO much better than joining Brer Rabbit I guess? Also: nostalgia isn't a blinder to pretend that song of the south wasn't racist, and the idea to celebrate the ride is... outdated as hell. Also, don't act like you guys wouldn't complain if they used the plot of the movie, because that's the only way you're getting "are you ready" because like... it wouldn't make any real sense. I feel like making a new story is SO much better than just using the old one. I'm sorry, but acting like this ride is bad is just... nostalgia blinded. Also, be careful with your wording: A lot of you are seeming racist as HELL. In summary: shut up, you're 33, go to your job and stop caring so much about fucking Disney.

Sick of the hate 4 this ride. It is beautiful ❤. Tiana is my favorite princess and the ride is dope. Disney did there best it may be perfect certain things but its beautiful. Tiana is beautiful and i can't wait.

What an uninspired downgrade. No story, no danger, half empty scenes. It's kinda like a boring ride for toddlers with a drop at the end, they could've made it, you know....... exciting ! Even the theme park vloggers can't hype it up to make it look more exciting because the ride is dull as hell compared to its predecessor lol
I love to see all these fans of Song of the South so disappointed.😅😅😅 old people that are afraid of change. This new theme, look and soundtrack is so much better that the old tired and underlying racsits tails that was Spash Mountain. Wow, this is sad! The USS Tiana shows that Disney has Sunk to a new low. They don't care about quality nor do they think very highly of the Boack Community. To give such a lackluster ride story shows us what they think. Unless they are intentionally trying to put the Black Community in a bad light. Was a Black Princess not good enough for ger own ride and theme/story? But the sheer incompetence of the new Imagineering team is going to destroy Disney and everything it stands for. I guess Standards have left tte building......and has sunk on the USS Tiana. This is what Socialism has done to Disney! It's not over either, other rides will fall too.

the animatronics are really impressive and its better than i expected but i really cannot help but feel disappointed with the screens, it looks and feels so lazy especially when we know what disney are capable of with rides such as rise of the resistance using curved screens to make them feel more immersive and less flat and i cant quite put my finger on it but the ride experience overall just doesnt feel right in my opinion. amazing pov though, very much enjoyed it!
And the sad thing is that this is the new normal for Disney because they’re doing budget cuts less of the cool stuff and more of the screens very disappointing on the imagers part seems like the imagers don’t have an imagination anymore especially for the fact that they’re now doing IP only based attractions, there’s no original concept anymore for any rides nothings original anymore, so there’s no imagination that goes into it

Why wouldn't they have used zydeco or cajun music. When the music does have a particular sound, it's more carribean than anything else. There was nothing on the ride that would make me want to ride it over and over like Splash Mountain did. I was really sorry to see Splash Mountain go. but if it was going then I was really wanting the new ride to be a worthy successor, didn't happen.
The first animal band that played "Gonna Take You There" was a Zydeco band. The second band played a Rara version of the song (festive music with origins from Haiti).

Disney is supposedly the company with thousands of stories to tell, and this one was about band tryouts? What was the point? What was the story? That animals play music? That fireflies live in the bayou? That screens are apparently better than practical effects? I mean I understand the ride, but I just don't get its purpose. What happened to imagineering?

I mean I'll admit they killed it with the previous 'boat celebration" scene at the end from Splash Mountain but they really dropped the ball with the potential on this one. It looks gorgeous from the outside but the lack of story or presence of danger or conflict that Dr. Facilier could have SO easily provided makes me really think this is a downgrade from a ride that was already so old and outdated.

The finale scene aka the party doesn't have NEAR the festivity of the original Spalsh Mountain showboat. And that song? Yawn. They should have kept the movie's music. That last scene screams for Dig a Little Deeper.

The more and more I watch this the more and more the lack of a story makes this ride look uneventful. Like most of the indoor animatronics are just spouting exposition or playing instruments and nothing else. Where is all the detail with little things happening all around you that you can miss on your first couple of rides? There were so many charming little things that told their own stories littered throughout Splash Mountain along with the better main story the ride was telling.

That’s nothing. Imperial Leather’s Bubbleworks was an active graveyard compared to the original Bubbleworks.
They should rename it to living with the land featuring Tatiana and her friends of the Bayou and the best part about it is that it got three drops that’s three more entertaining drops than the actual living with the land does

What was wrong with Splash Mountain? It was the most popular ride, it was beautifully themed, great story telling and the most buoyant (pun intended) ending of any ride with Zipitty-do-da. As rides go it was a masterpiece. Sure the ride is the same but we now have an incoherent story and a lot of screens... boring. They fixed something that wasn't broken and we got the expected result. My humble opinion, still love TPRs infectious optimism though.
It was old and outdated with barely -functioning animatronics, based on a movie so offensive to a massive part of the population that it should NEVER have been made into a ride in the first place. It was popular because it was the first ever fully-themed log flume, and the only water ride in a very hot park. The new finale song is just as delightful and catchy, with much more relevant characters that won't make people feel left out.
@MysTaeryColorful Splash Mountain was never outdated. It was a masterclass of a ride. Splash Mountain storyline was great, and it was fun to ride. Now we have a mountain with a random bayou, a lot of empty space, a queue that doesn't look like New Orleans, no jazz version of dig a little dipper, a terrible storyline that doesn't make sense, and a final song that doesn't even come close to Zipitty-do-da. I like princes and the frog and new orleans, but this ride sucks. Disney failed

I loved the OG Mountain but I also love the colours and the music of this one, some the tunes on this really are so good and just as toe tapping. I kind of like the positive vibes this gives and great POV as normal and hey You are on Log Flume!
