    All objects seen through the GoPro's fisheye lens are much closer to the vehicle than they appear in the video.

    Definitely have the same complaint about it staying too far to the left on unmarked roads. I don't think it's really ready for parking lots yet. It still blows my mind every time I go for a drive though.

    You don't know anything about how it works. You need to set the profile so it won't do rolling stops. How the hell did you get in the program?

      Already addressed repeatedly in the comments.

    Parking lots haven’t been worked on yet by Tesla.

    • @TheTechofTech
      @TheTechofTech  2 роки тому +1

      As addressed, that is inconsistent with FSD Beta willingly navigating into them to take you directly to your destination. It should be like NOA, which ends its assistance once you drive off highways. I will otherwise test FSD Beta wherever it can be activated.

    Seems to me that Tesla do not properly understand the sheer mind boggling complexity of visual perception. Navigating through the physical world is such a vastly complex thing that I am skeptical as to whether a computer will ever be able to do it fully autonomously.

    • @YeeLeeHaw
      @YeeLeeHaw 2 роки тому +2

      Agreed, we heavily underestimates the biological mind and the complexity of the world. I think they've painted themselves into a corner here by making so many promises for so many years with a lot of hyperbolic language, and then price gouging the whole thing, when in reality they're aren't even close to the claimed ability. All the power to Tesla, but this Full Self Driving thing seems to be very far away.

    • @TheTechofTech

      It will get there eventually, and I think Tesla will be the first to do it, but “eventually” is an undefinable quantity right now for sure.

    just fyi we were told beginning and end of drive aren't really part of the abilities yet. So parking lots do not work well and are not being worked on currently. We can still have fun with beta in parking lots tho. Congrats on beta :)

      Who is the “we” in “we are told”? Nobody told me any such thing, and I’ve read everything provided. I get it- you’ve had special access for a year, but I’m going to test what they give me the way they give it. If Tesla wants to provide instructions to *everybody* and not just a select few, I’m all ears/eyes. Until then, I’m testing everything FSD Beta tries to do, including seeing how close each revision is to the promises that have been made for years as to what the software is supposed to do.

      @@TheTechofTech yup like I said we (beta testers, you included) can test whatever we like.
      Back in the early days, we had some communication with the autopilot team. One question I asked was should I be turning this on in parking lots or after I get on the road.
      They said it can be enabled wherever, but for now, it works best if you turn it on once you get on the road.
      Just trying to shed a little light on why it's *extra* goofy in parking lots compared to the normal amount of goofy on the road :)

  • @BassPlayerUnderGrace

    I have tried to use it in parking lots, but it almost always results in an immediate intervention/ deactivation from me. So I refuse to activate it in parking lots until they are officially supported. Just keep in mind, parking lots aren't supported yet. The nature of FSD Beta means you can activate it almost anywhere, but that doesn't mean it's supported there.

      That tentacle sure does whip around, but it is when FSD Beta chooses clearly inappropriate paths that is the biggest issue for safety, like turning directly into the sidewalk or driving directly at oncoming cars until the last minute.

      @@TheTechofTech Tesla treats you as an adult. I believe they specifically said that it’s not made for parking spots yet.
      Just like regular autopilot is mainly for roads without oncoming traffic, but let’s you activate it everywhere almost.

    • @TheTechofTech
      @TheTechofTech  2 роки тому +3

      ...yet they don't "treat you as an adult" for NOA, which shuts itself off when it no longer applies. It's fine that they allow FSD Beta to work where it isn't refined yet, but just as we all test public Autopilot on side roads to show what it can and cannot do, I will test FSD Beta in parking lots to show what it can and cannot do with each revision.

    I support your channels and like your content.
    I am not aware that FSD is advertised to be parking lot ready yet - it has had some of those features for years, but it is lacking and not complete.
    For me, I’m pretty much disengaged with Tesla as Musk has decided to abandon non-gifted Tesla owners for the past year - I sincerely know you understand what I’m saying.
    I love my car with its last generation software and I hope someday I will meet the high arbitrary requirements that Tesla demands so I can realize the benefit of what I paid for years ago. I’m just waiting for the 1st generation drivers seat rectal thermometer retro fit Musk will require to assure the driver is alive before he allows an OTA transfer to me.
    Thank you for the time and effort you put into your productions.
    Stay safe and healthy.

    • @TheTechofTech
      @TheTechofTech  2 роки тому

      I definitely know what you mean by not being a "gifted Tesla owner"- I was Tesla's top referrer worldwide for 2020, and the FSD Beta program group never gave me the time of day. Software updates were so boring that I stopped making Autopilot videos altogether.
      As far as what Tesla advertises, they don't advertise anything at all to us newbies. There are no instructions on how to use FSD Beta, no limitations on what it is supposed to be able to handle, nothing of the sort at all other than to be prepared for it to do the worst thing possible at all times. I'm going to test FSD Beta as it does what it wants to do, which was to take me into parking lots to get to my destinations. As long as FSD Beta continues to navigate, I'm going to continue to test just as I've been doing for years with public Autopilot long before it was capable of taking the kinds of curves that it now handles with ease. Thanks for watching, and I hope you continue to find the videos interesting!

      Well because people die in their thousands in car crashes each year, and time spent concentrating on driving is time that could be spent on other activities - reading, sleeping, talking, working etc.

    • @TheTechofTech
      @TheTechofTech  2 роки тому +2

      All the time we spend driving now is already punctuated by our minds wandering to other activities. If the car is safely doing the driving, we can either be safe from the distraction or actually do the activity itself (e.g., checking and answering email, playing a game, watching a show…).

    It’s funny watching you wrestle with it, but you have some guns on you, it does make me wonder what a slight young or elderly driver would be able to do against the torque of the steering controller if they had to quickly correct it.

    • @TheTechofTech
      @TheTechofTech  2 роки тому +3

      Know that a lot of the time, I'm "co-steering" or letting the wheel slip through my hands on purpose. There are two times in this very video where I didn't even notice that I put enough pressure on the wheel to kick it out of FSD Beta. The main thing is to be ready for it to do something you don't want it to do, then resisting the steering pressure won't seem so bad.

    I don’t believe 100% FSD will ever be a possibility. There are way too many variables for a computer to navigate. Eliminating the human Element is impossible.

    • @TheTechofTech
      @TheTechofTech  2 роки тому

      It will get to a point where geocoding will fix the edge cases, either by eliminating them from route guidance or having a custom set of rules. Human drivers geocode edge cases. AI will need to do the same to succeed.
