I found myself in everything he lived and felt. Through Penguin Highway he proves that he is a talent and I am glad to know that. Thank you Archipel for bringing to attention real values, of real inspiration. Hiroyasu Ishida is a real hope for a great future in animation film industry.
Ishida is absolutely brilliant. He just has this perspective on youth and emotions that is extremely unique. He just gets something that not a lot of people get, and somehow finds creative ways to express those things through animation. The fact that he spoke so long about his characters as if they were real people - and as almost a parallel to his own struggles - emphasizes that raw creative imagination he has. The lens he views things through is on an entirely different level. It's oddly practical, and immersive, and I really cherish that about all his works. Definitely one of the best directors in the industry, hands down.
"I wasn't feeling right, I think the process I took was a bit self-destructive". This sentence perfectly fits the situation I'm currently living in. Hope it turns out well in the end for me too. Anyways, absolutely stunning documentary, keep up with the amazing work. Thanks to the whole Archipel team for making those for us

i just love how dedicated your work is. Very elaborate, intimate, interesting and calming at the same time. Thank you Archipel ! Very glad to find out more about Ishida-san, I just saw Penguins Highway from him and I will check his other projects for sure !
I first heard about Archipel several months ago, and I thought the videos looked interesting. I decided to binge watch almost all of your videos up to this one (which is the latest one as of this comment). When I saw that you had a Patreon account, I went and became a Patron so that I could help support your video make endeavors because I just enjoy your videos so much. Thanks for all the content and I look forward to future releases
Great vids you do- just the interviewee, their words, their works and their surroundings.... No distractions, no interviewer butting in, no obnoxious music- keep it up :)
I second others' feelings here: it's always a pleasure to watch one of your videos. The interviews are always very intimate and often show how difficult it can be to create long-goal projects. I personally love to work quick on small projects and enjoy them. I always felt that long term works require a lot more dedication... and suffering. Your videos often point that and I'm grateful for the artists that you interview to be sincere and humble, rather than "raving" about their stuff. It's a refreshing change from all these internet videos that only focus on quantity, productivity, "success", occulting the less enjoyable parts of every creative project. Thank you for sharing this!
Guys, you don't even imagine how much I love what you do. Thank you for being the firefly that shines in the darkness days of our lives giving happiness and love. Thank you ❤️
This series is incredible! I admire your work with video: Color correction, editing, music, typography - everything is at the highest level. And the characters you invite are very interesting people who are pleasant to listen to. It was very interesting to find out that in the head of the man who created the delightful anime "Penguin Highway", unexpectedly, that he has many more wonderful works. Thank you, Archipel, for another masterpiece. Thanks to you, my day has become better!
I just love your videos. It is so nice to see them, to meet the artist, how they started and how they made their creations. And Archipel, you make me want to sit and watch your videos, which move me deeply. Thanks a lot.
Finally I was able to find a little bit of time to watch at ease. Loved the place of filming. Not big fan of photography but your shots always gets me as well as your interviews. Thanks!
I really like the way Archipel made this video, it brings out some deeper meaning to it, and because of the video giving us calming atmosphere, it makes us easy to understand. I'm rooting for you guys!!
Thanks for the video. I've missed this channel so much lately. I would love to see Hidetaka Miyazaki in a video like this someday. Anyway, great job. Looking forward to more videos like this.
Gosto muito dos vídeos do canal Archipel estarem legendados em Português-BR, sou Brasileiro e ter acesso a esses vídeo legendados, nos ajuda a entender as experiências do entrevistados. Execelente trabalho!
Another fantastic video. You can really tell that this person is fueled passionately by creating wonderful stories about childhood and overcoming obstacles, and will even go out of his way to surround himself in the very environments that his movies take place in. That is dedication! I haven't seen his works yet, bit I'm very interested now. Uh, feel free to ignore this request, but... I have been curious if you, or the team, (forgive me, I don't know which it is) Archipel, would be willing to cover more animators or directors that work on the "furry" or Kemono (獣人) scene. I feel like this type of content and coverage is lacking, and I would love to know more about this side of culture in Japan. I know the subject of kemono is a touchy and too on the nose for people trying to compare it to furry... But still, I think it's important to cover a whole broad area of topics! I can only imagine how much work and time it takes to find these great people to talk to, establish a business or personal relationship with them in order to entice them for being interviewed and filmed in the first place, and then do all the editing and video work that goes on in these videos, which is why I was hesitant to ask anything in the first place... One such person I was thinking of was Shin'ichi Matsumi. He is the director of Beastars, and also helped with Pom Poko, one of my favorite movies of all time from Studio Ghibi, and Porco Rosso (which I have not seen yet). Technically, Pom Poko was directed by Isao Takahata, but he was the assistant director for it. I could list other favorite kemono-related movies from Japan, such as BNA - Brave New Animal, Wolf Children, etc... There's Masaya Fujimori, an art director known for directing some Pokemon Movies, Zorro and You Are Umasou series. Not saying that Pokemon and You Are Umasou are very kemono-related. I would consider Zorori more of that, but the other two are not, but may be watched by kemono/furry fans at least. I think "kemono" culture strictly revolves around the main characters and focus of the show being this way, as a general theme? Not sure. Because in America, furry is also a theme and trying to be more culturally significant now. It's not just a fandom anymore... And I unfortunately know too much about the various sides of the furry fandom. Lol. In Japan, the kemono scene may be different than what I'm used to. I'd like to be educated more about it, especially the history of kemono, and if it may ever grow up to be as big of a scene as furry has become now. It's all interesting stuff to me. Let me know what you think! If the directors are too high profile to be able to be contacted easily for interview, then I'd be find just seeing interviews from animators and artists that draw kemono. It's always a treat seeing your videos. So thank you very much for them.
For your information. Hiroyasu Ishida has a UA-cam Channel that he started when he's still a college student. He posted his early student film there, though he seldom post anything recently there. Go check out his early work ua-cam.com/users/ishidahiroyasutete
Another amazing document from Archipel. When watching your videos I can't help but let me imagination flows with it, the ethereal music helps a lot too. Are the music from your videos all made by you? If not can you add the names in the description? I really want to have them. Thank you!
i love how he treats his characters like human beings and genuinenly wanted to help them
It's a great day when there's a new Archipel upload. Thank you for this insightful view into Japanese creators!
Thanks for watching!

Wow the way he talks about the characters and wanting to save them at the end that was superb. :)))
Always a pleasure watching your work. Can't wait to watch his film soon. Keep it up!
