Abby I just want to say, you do things the way you want to and don't listen to the negative vibes that some are sending on this video. This is your house, your money going into it, your friends helping you out and your ideas. In the end you will be living in it day and night, so you are the one who will be proud of your new home when it's all said and done and most likely no one from the comments below will come and help you in person or monetarily, so like I said you do you. I for one think you are doing an awesome job of remodeling your 150 yr old fixer upper and I love seeing the progress. YOU GET 'R DONE GIRL! ♥♥♥♥♥
I love seeing how much you have learned in these months since you started, like how to use the pry bar by getting it wedged in better. As a person who has done a lot of demo and rebuild, I would give you a piece of advice on how to keep the area cleaner & at same time cutting down on double work. As you tear walls down & perform other demo always have your trash can right there and instead of throwing debris on the floor, throw it in the can. Who wants double work, right? You are becoming quite the pro with the reciprocating saw too!!! LOL!
I totally agree! I hope that beautiful door unit can be saved. I noticed that on the exterior there are also some original corner boards, giving the house a stamp of authenticity!
Holy cats girl working in the winter I just have to feel for you. This remodeling is slow and steady and I commend you for putting the nose to the grind stone. I love your happy go lucky attitude it is definitely what friends like to see in others as well as someone who does videos. Your community is lucky to have you as one of it’s members
it's coming along. Keeping the place cleaned as you go along will put you in a better frame of mind and provide incentive to spend a few evenings making progress on the house.
The first house my husband and I built in the 70's was a post and beam with a huge custom made beam down the center. It had vaulted ceilings with a loft. It was recycled lumber rescued from a commercial chicken operation built in the 30's. They called it the happy hen hatchery. It was the tallest wood structure ever in our county.
I know you've thought of this. But if you hadn't figured out a really cool floor plan already, having all that wide open space would sure be inspirational. It's super cool that a house can be built that way.
And these days it's not as strong as back then. Everyone wants the open space. It's not impossible if you know someone with a Sawmill and where to get a really big oak tree 😂.
I'm sure you have inspired many people to try to do more. I can invision you relax on some comfortable furniture looking out your bay window. It will happen soon enough. And just imagine the memories and the pride you will have in yourself. A big thank you to all your helpers! Enjoy the Journey. Ellen, IN
You're doing a great job! I love your videos! 2 suggestions: put the garbage can right beside where you'll be working before you start, and buy yourself a tool belt. I think it will save you quite a few steps!
Abby your getting good with that saw zaw. I seen one guy cut into live wires once with a saw zaw. I said "aren't there wires in there?" He said nah,,, then boom! Blew the circuit breaker, luckily noone hurt. Nice to see a sledge being used, a properly placed sledge is a very powerful tool. Looks nice and clean swept up.. The Days are getting longer..
Yes Abby it takes time to do things , small steps taken your get there ,good to see you coved up you never know what nasty could be in the building, when we Reno my daughter place we keepedsome old wood from the house and made a coffee table, the house was 90 years old so the timber could have been 100 to 200years old , your timber could be older , you could make a good big table out off the big timber maybe ask your dad , ok keep safe and strong Abby
I love that you are able to expose the chimney - after checking and repairing or rebuilding it, you will feel so secure when you are living there. Safety means peace of mind for me, and you are doing a good job of ensuring that your house will be safe. Keep up the good work!
Maybe people would get it if you compared your house to the way barns were/are built. The post and beams carry the weight on the outside walls so there are big open spaces to fill with hay, straw, etc. Love your energy and your goal of retro fitting that 150 year old house.
hi abby, another great move to get your home done. abby you are a strong minded lady, to be in that cold house at night by yourself is fantastic!! hi to trudy GOD BLESS. all of you, Abby Stay Safe... Jim Nova Scotia Canada.
I know you mentioned having a door in the rear of the new coat closet to enclose utilities, but now seeing the open space... What about just the one door to utilities and create an alcove for the entry with a bench with coat/ hat hooks on the wall. We demolished our coat closet that greeted us upon opening the door. Added the bench and hooks that actually got used! My family somehow missed the " how to use hangers" tutorial 😹 As well, guests feel free to toss things in the drop zone, rather than opening a closet door. Just a thought 🤔
I picture a small church pew for the bench, with an old window with hooks on the bottom as a coat rack hanging on the wall behind the pew. Photos of the home’s restoration could be placed in the old window!
I know others have suggested you rethink putting back the walls. It's a very small space. I have a small Cape house with lots of walls and small rooms. Its cozy and charming. The current style is to open up some of those walls for an open concept. Styles change. You want your rehab to please you long term. What style really speaks to you?
Hi Abby! I am slightly behind in watching your videos, so now I get to binge watch two videos! I laughed at your terminology referring to the insulation as chimneye' and rodente'!
I understand post and beam construction but the house is also what, 150 years old? Even if those beams and joists were kiln dried when they were installed, there would still be shrinkage. In one of your first videos you show where the floor joist intersected the wall near the stairs. Everyone of those joist showed shrinkage. Hopefully all will go well and there will be no problem. But, better safe than sorry. Temporary posts never hurt anyone.
I'm actually impressed with the progress. Back in the summer I wanted to help you torch it! But all in all I'm happy you saved the structure have done the foundation, hubby watches some with me and he noticed your windows. I think you've got your 2nd wind and things will start coming together. I'd say you will have it liveable in a year or 18 months. Good things take time. Blessings!!
When the weather starts warming up you will be so glad you kept working thru winter even if it is short days and slow progress. This is the hard part, the remodel will go fast once it has been started.
Although they are not load-bearing walls, weight can still press on that standing beam. (because the floor sags a bit). maybe it is better to leave it until the new 2 by 4 poles are standing. If you still want to take it out, it is better to cut it at an angle instead of at right angles, so that the two parts automatically slide past each other.
Yep, that's right, even beams need to be supported, they can sag up to an inch or even more! Push the ceiling up with the new walls to take up the sag. Even steel beams sag some.
It is easier to see the layout of the main floor now all the walls are gone. I am so looking forward to watching the new walls go up and see your vision for your home come together. ❤
Abby, you are doing a wonderful job. I love your large, beautiful front door with side lights. It looks so different being exposed now. I think it would be so nice to walk in the front door, and look all the way through to your beautiful patio doors, and see outside to the beautiful views. What do you think about having a bench with storage underneath for shoes, some hooks for hats, scarves, and coats, and maybe a mirror at your front entrance, where the closet use to be, instead of building another closet? I was wondering what you think about the open space now. Also, what about a large pantry cabinet or two, with pull-out shelves instead of an actual pantry closet-room? Now that everything is open, it looks so nice. I can't wait to see what you do with your design plans. Love your videos, I can't wait until your next one.
Good evening Abby. Great to see you're making progress on the home. You're doing just great - but that's of course to be expected from a talented self sufficient woman such as yourself, with such impeccable remodeling skills. I can' wait to see the finished project, i.e., your warm and cozy home. 👍😊
Thanks for your tenacity and videos.I’m so proud of you and excited to see the progress.I’ve watched from the beginning, good job sissy, and God bless you.
With all that little firewood that you have you should have a little wood stove in a temporary chimney then you could take and have some heat in that house while you're working
What a work...amazing show much dust is collected all over the roofs and walls...a real challenging job, it will certainly provide you a cleaner environment after such work
Love the look of the sliding patio door. It looks so open now .I like that style Abby but do you or what is your favorite style any way looks great can not wait to see more
its all really coming along. the loudness of the cut saw made me jump though lolol. I was really trying to hear your voice so I had it turned up ha ha ha. your house is going to be amazing!
That is an awful wide beam to not need a post in the middle of it. The post you couldn't get out must have a lot of weight on it if you can't get it out after cutting through it.
The apartment I rent is in a house that is 115 years old thus definitely made different than today. So do your best. So the old house was divided into 3 apartment's.
Advice, walk the floors upstairs and look for bouncy spots, you will never have a better opportunity to shore them up than now.
Love the progress.
You have my respect for all the hard work and effort you put in. Blessings to you and take care.
Thank you Abby. You are so lucky to get that beautiful lumber from your Dad. New lumber smells so much better than 100 year old lumber.❤❤❤.
Abby I just want to say, you do things the way you want to and don't listen to the negative vibes that some are sending on this video. I just want to suggest you to keep the green front door, it's a nice door.
Me too.
I agree!!! You can never get another one like it. 🤗❤️🇨🇦

The front door really looks good with the walls gone. Great job! 🥰

it's coming along. Keeping the place cleaned as you go along will put you in a better frame of mind and provide incentive to spend a few evenings making progress on the house.
Looks good! Clean up as you work rather than leaving it all to the end when you are tired. And- that old lathe makes good kindling! Great job.

Little by little, it will, Abby! Then comes the creative part and spring and you'll be right in your element! 😊 Have a wonderful evening! -Chris
Good thing you are young and full of energy. The house is coming along nicely!
I'm ready to see some building back up, also!
You will be delighted to have all the demolition done once and for all!!! 🤗❤️🎶🇨🇦
I also love your front door. I hope your keeping it.
Good job. I admire your undertaking.
You go girl !!!
I know you've thought of this. But if you hadn't figured out a really cool floor plan already, having all that wide open space would sure be inspirational. It's super cool that a house can be built that way.
that's what I see also...
I agree, I love having a open space, we had a closet removed between our kitchen and living room to make it a open space and I ❤️❤️❤️it!
And these days it's not as strong as back then. Everyone wants the open space.
It's not impossible if you know someone with a Sawmill and where to get a really big oak tree 😂.
Happy to see you are keeping it cleaned up as you go. The openness of the place looks really great.
I'm going to go watch your first video again just to remind me of what it looked like before. What a difference! 💖💜💖
Abby you are on the move ! Such good progress on the demo. Thank you for sharing.
You are almost ready to do the fun stuff! Great job Abby.
I'm sure you have inspired many people to try to do more. I can invision you relax on some comfortable furniture looking out your bay window. It will happen soon enough. I am loving it. The progress is amazing. I can’t wait to see you all clean the basement.
Good job, you're a trooper! Stay safe, it's dark out.
Nice to see you cleaning up behind yourself. It looked SO dangerous before!
Looks good especially without all those doors! You can start to imagine the way it might look !!! I think it’s going to look so nice !!!
Spring is just a few weeks away and we are gaining light everyday!
I'm glad to see you using a nice sturdy ladder with a grab bar while using that sawmill!!!
I love that you are able to expose the chimney - after checking and repairing or rebuilding it, you will feel so secure when you are living there. Safety means peace of mind for me, and you are doing a good job of ensuring that your house will be safe. Keep up the good work!
Doesn't seem long before she starts coming together 👍.

It’s going to be really nice and give yourself a pat on the back for all the work you’ve done. Can’t wait to see the end result’s 😊
hi abby, another great move to get your home done. abby you are a strong minded lady, to be in that cold house at night by yourself is fantastic!! hi to trudy GOD BLESS. all of you, Abby Stay Safe... Jim Nova Scotia Canada.
Maybe that board is carrying some type of load from the second floor. Since it doesn’t want to budge. 🤷♀️
I know you mentioned having a door in the rear of the new coat closet to enclose utilities, but now seeing the open space... @Theresa Romano Then she wouldn't have a laundry room/pantry or a coat closet.
Abby, looks great, stay positive!!
I always look forward to seeing your videos!!
I don’t know if you are as excited as I am about how far you’ve gotten… I cannot wait to see the end reveal… such a lot of work!
Hi Abby! I am slightly behind in watching your videos, so now I get to binge watch two videos! I laughed at your terminology referring to the insulation as chimneye' and rodente'!
The clean up , post demolition LooKs good .
Your house is looking so big with all the walls down. Great job
Looking very good. Kind of excited to see how the coat closet comes together :)
That might be supporting weight from above if you cut it and it pinched the Kerr closed. Careful!
Celebrate the emergence of the light. You can count on it. Bravo on your progress.

🇺🇸🇵🇷🇵🇪😎 YAHOO!!! Another installment of your home 🌞
Great work, Abby!
Great job, well done.
Glad to see "thee" tools in use. 🤐
Hey, excellent work with the teardown and clean up. You made good progress.
When the weather starts warming up you will be so glad you kept working thru winter even if it is short days and slow progress. This is the hard part, the remodel will go fast once it has been started.

Love the progress you’ve made! I’m excited to see how you transform your cute fixer upper❤️
Yay part of the wall is out!!! Enjoy the music as well!!!
Great progress!! ❤
Great job Sweet Abby ! another step forward . Looking fantastic , Yeah .💥❤🧡💛💚💜
It is easier to see the layout of the main floor now all the walls are gone. I am so looking forward to watching the new walls go up and see your vision for your home come together. ❤
Good job. Just when I thought demolition was over. But wait! There's more.🤪

Yay i am all caught up! Took me 2 days to get all caught up.
Be careful with the post to hold the beam from second floor and also the stairway, too. Study on the beams an posts and think before took down. 🤔
I like the front door now that you can see it with the open floor plan
Good evening Abby. Great to see you're making progress on the home. Thanks for your tenacity and videos.I’m so proud of you and excited to see the progress.I’ve watched from the beginning, good job sissy, and God bless you.
Abby. 💝🙏💝 Your home is coming together very nicely! Proud of you and thankful for you! This is so exciting. 💝🙏💝 Cheering you on. 💝👍💝
With all that little firewood that you have you should have a little wood stove in a temporary chimney then you could take and have some heat in that house while you're working
Enjoyed watching❤️
It looks so good, with all the walls gone.
Abby! You are doing a wonderful job here. I enjoy every minute of your awesome videos! 👍👏👍 😊
What a work...amazing show much dust is collected all over the roofs and walls...a real challenging job, it will certainly provide you a cleaner environment after such work

Love the look of the sliding patio door. It looks so open now .I like that style Abby but do you or what is your favorite style any way looks great can not wait to see more
Great job, it's going to look soooo different so very soon.
I’m so pleased you wear a mask to protect your lungs from the dust and fibers!❤❤❤. I can’t wait to how all of this turns our!😮
its all really coming along. the loudness of the cut saw made me jump though lolol. I was really trying to hear your voice so I had it turned up ha ha ha. your house is going to be amazing!
Looking amazing, well done
Looks good!
Looking good 👍
I've subscriber to you and your mom's channels
Looks great 😘👍🏻💕loved the video 😘👍🏻💕
I'm always worried about you falling down that stairway hole.🤸
What about the ceiling downstairs? There is probably nasty insulation there also. Good luck and many blessings
Showing promise. Looks great
the "fire retardant wall board" was ASBESTOS
Are you serious?
OMG ASBESTOS!!
it's a good chance it was
I was wondering if hope they don't burn it
@@tinachambers4887 that little bit of asbestos will not hurt a thing to take and Burn it
Looks so good.
That is an awful wide beam to not need a post in the middle of it. The post you couldn't get out must have a lot of weight on it if you can't get it out after cutting through it.
Thanks for sharing
Great progress
Asbestos in wall board wrap in plastic an call a professional to despose it wash all gloves ,clothing an use new mask Abby
The apartment I rent is in a house that is 115 years old thus definitely made different than today. So do your best. So the old house was divided into 3 apartment's.
It is looking really good honey. I love it.
