@@mgrollins Not really effectively. The AIO/board is the wrong size with the wrong size mounting holes. Also the motors of the TH are to small to run 3inch props.
I know this video is 3 years old now, but what are the props on the Apex racing frame at 12:15? I want to get something with a steeper pitch like those to really get traction on tight maneuvers
I have the same build but use the Gemfan 3016’s (3 blade) which seem to be much smoother and more efficient than the bi-blade’s. These are incredible little machines....none better IMO.
My tp3 is a bit heavier at 62g with a diamond vtx, baby ratal and beeper on it running 1204 5000kv its not as punchy as the 1303's But still flies great. As you say the feel with the 3 blade prop is better but you get more punch out the 3018 bi-blades

Just cruising around, with only 1 or 2 punch outs I got over 12 mins of flight on a 3s 650. 😳I don’t recommend that size batt for this platform, (450mah is perfect for me) but just thought I’d add to the efficiency / flight time comments. Also like others said the Gemfan 3016s are sweet and it flies very quiet too.
I have very good flight time results with the ldarc 1304 - 4100kv at 4s with 3inch biblades, flying weight 150gram inc 650mah/4s you reach 7 minutes with decent freestyling around. I wish there were more 1304 size light efficient motors around of better quality.
Great video love the toothpick 3” quads. I’m building my first quad! I’m excited, After looking at the setups I’m aiming for 2S-3S as well.. I’m having trouble locating the proper camera mount aka hood for my toothpick. I’m using a Dave C Sanchez Ultralight in the 1.5mm thickness with the 20mm mounting pattern. I’ve purchased my AIO FC/vTX/Rx and my ESC board, rcinpower 1202.5 6000kv motors, and a foxeer nano camera. Do you know where I can find a pod/mount that will fit my foxeer toothless 2 nano to my 20mm frame? All of the ones I’ve found seem to be 25x25 AIO format. I do have access to a 3 d printer if you can point me to a thing verse file that’s great too. Love your videos, 4” LR attracted me to the hobby but tp3 sold the deal. I’ll list my parts so far below. Ty in advance for your answers. Jumper T-Pro, ELRS 1000mw lite backpack 20mm Sanchez 1.5mm ultralight frame 20mm happymodel pancake fc/vTX/rx 20mm hackrc 4-in-1 ESC Rcinpower 1202.5 6000kv motors 4S 670 Graphene LiPo which I’ll probably bust in to two 2S might even go 2S 450 or 2S 1600 liion we’ll see.
We will probably need to find a 3d printed canopy. I suggest searching printables.com or thingiverse.com for "foxeer toothless 2 20x20 canopy". When we find one that will work we can either ask a friend with a 3d printer to print or send it to a printing service to print.
Always love your review video. Thank you for this TP3 review. I love the TP3. Flying both on 2s and 3s. The low end power is actually very good. Just need to do some PID tuning. Need to know how to tune the filter setting as well especially if using Betaflight 4.1. if the filters are properly tuned, it will flies even smoother and more efficient. I get over 9 minutes of flight on 3s (combination of fast and cruising)
NBD camera mount is their best product ever hands down 🙈 just wish they finally made one for 14mm cameras, I am not a fan of these whoop lenses on 2.5"+ rippers.
Filip Radelic you can just unscrew the lens and screw it in thru the hole in the mount and it holds the camera well, the only negative is that you need to re-focus it
I might need to try those props out I tried the pyrodrone 2in bi-blade that kabab had on the list but it has little no low end at all. so hard hover it will fall or take off. But flys good with 40mm 4 blade
Goto the 3 blade props, if you can find them haha. But get the ines bob sells bc they are 3018x3 and the ones pyro sells are 3016. And yes there is a difference between them. I have the jesc on mine and it's a dream! I crashed mine half throttle into a satellite dish last week, all I bent was a prop, but I was using the 3.1x3.4 from hq, good racing props for this light frame.
ive been flipping my tp3 with 3s 550mah bricks and it goes 9 minutes before i have to land. Granted i'm not maxing the throttle, but i don't really need to in the location im flying at. My only complaint is i wish it had the option for a real battery strap. Im not sure how they'd do it, but i'd gladly add the weight for a real strap.
Great review. It sounds like your really enjoying it. If you had to make a change to make it better you mentioned the motors were not torquey enough? What motor's do you think would be better. Personally I prefer a KV in 5500-6000 range where I give up some flight time for more pop.
@@NickBurnsFPV Emax just released an eco 1404 6000 and there cheap. Those are my next set. I have a set of RCX1306 6000kv great performers but are amp piggies. Not new by any means but still a great performing motor.
I'm looking at the Tinyhawk freestyle on 1s to get me out of the sim. long flight times + very docile + very quiet. What do you think? [also if you can recommend (inexpensive) goggles for someone with glasses (someone with myopia) that would be great] Thanks Nick! Edit: Tinyhawk is the only RTF I know of with more than a 6 min flight time. Compare to Babytooth on 1s for flight time?🤷♂️ Whatever you can do, ill watch it!!
I like the emax rtf products for a 1st quad, it gets you flying right away. Best advise is to make sure the props can spin freely on launch and when we crash don't try to take off from the grass or with props obstructed. When props can't spin and we try to fly we run the risk of burning the esc, this isn't specific to emax product but many many micro quads.
Sooo, idk if this a dumb question or not, I have some low kv 1304’s rated for 2-4S would a 1s make it swing for a ‘toothpick’ build? If so I’ll start ordering parts rn...

@@NickBurnsFPV just posted my initial impressions, great training tool when my 5" quads are down. Also, I'm gonna build a 1s babytooth as the tp3 is a bit much for my yard.
Nick, why you used Eachine VTX instead of something like Rush Tiny tank. ( take that with a grain or 2 of salt ) :D , and wht triblades instead of bi blades for longer flight time
rush tiny weighs more and I don't find it performs any better. At the time of the video we didn't have t style low pitch tri blade props. This is also Bobs recommended build.
@@NickBurnsFPV ohhh my, so its a myth then that bi blades are more efficent than triblades, we try to follow fpv influencers but one guy say one thing and another guy say another. so i think at the end we personally need to do our own testing and find out what is best to a given personal scenario. you lost me :(
@@rolisaenz No! Be careful reading your question into my response. I did not say that more blades is more efficient. I am saying I didn't try tri blades as they weren't available when this video was made, and also these are the prop Kabob recommended at the time as well.
The cylinder is a capacitor, which can help to clean up voltage spikes and overall electrical noise. It does have heat shrink holding it to the battery lead wires.
github.com/betaflight/betaflight/releases/tag/3.5.7 you can get it from here now. Find your target and then download it. The betaflight dev's have removed 3.5.7
Gday Nick, very cool flying kababs toothpicks would be very awsome to build if you could actually get any parts from fpvcycle there always sold out, great review i think Bobs a big fan of yours Nick great work mate.👍🛸
Depends on the flying you are doing. The wider stator (1303) seem to have a bit more low end throttle resolution for better control on the lower half of the throttle. 1105 motors may be a hair faster, but they lose the precise control over the prop. Also consider 1204 motors as they are more available.
Due to most of my flying being low below the tree line I prefer the wider stator, the prop control makes it easier to be precise and in control. It doesn't have the top end pop like a 1105/6 but it gets to the top end it does have faster.
About speed the mamba 1105s are top with 3s, efficient as well but less control! I fly also a tp3 with 1204FPVCYCLE in 4s with Betafpv 12amp Fc and 3018 prop ...crazy fast !!!
Nick Burns what should I do with my hobby Brothers avenger 0804 15000kv motors I stupidly put them on a beta65x which is very inefficient so what could I do with these motors without basically just happened to let them go for way cheaper than what I paid for them.could I use them on a toothpick frame and is it possible to run to s on that high of KV I'm not sure why I bought 15000kv I should have stayed there like 10K or 12K at the best.I would like to have the flat time that you shown in this video but on 2s and still have good power is there anything I could do to make that happen
Its a bit high kv for most non-whoop frames. Maybe look at the frames from r3dshifters.com I have reviewed one of the whoop frames and I am currently working on a non whoop and another of their frames for review.
1303 seem to be preferred by most for overall performance and more low end control, but the 1204 will get you a bit more top end speed if that's important. I built mine with 1204s and it's become my favorite build to fly. You really can't go wrong with either option.
Its largely going to depend on the type of flying and normal flying space. As @sixtofive said the wider stator is going to have more overall prop control with less top end pop.
Please for the love of quad !! what sir is your pid tune???!!! Pls we tp3 newbies need to know!!! I wanna fly smooth on 2S and 3S pretty please with fully charge batteries on bottom :)

Got 2 primo 3s one same setup as yours 3016 tri blades and one with 1106 t motors on avan props that i prefer more cause its faster with more punch could be the props cant(unless i drill) try cause 2 mm shaft on 1303s
the emax tiny hawk freestyle is crazy efficient , i got 4.5 min flight times. flying slowly and you get even more.
that might be a good option for people how dont want to build
Right Guard Official agreed it was my 2nd quad and I can rip it and still get around 4 minutes
There is a big performance difference between these classes. The freestyle does have an efficient setup.
I would love to know if you can transfer the guys of the TH Freestyle into the TP3 frame?
@@mgrollins Not really effectively. The AIO/board is the wrong size with the wrong size mounting holes. Also the motors of the TH are to small to run 3inch props.
@@NickBurnsFPV Thanks!
Really liking the long flight time. That build looks and fly great. Great review Nick. 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Glad you enjoyed it
I know this video is 3 years old now, but what are the props on the Apex racing frame at 12:15? I want to get something with a steeper pitch like those to really get traction on tight maneuvers
I have the same build but use the Gemfan 3016’s (3 blade) which seem to be much smoother and more efficient than the bi-blade’s. These are incredible little machines....none better IMO.
Yeah 3 blade is totally more efficient than 2 blade.
My tp3 is a bit heavier at 62g with a diamond vtx, baby ratal and beeper on it running 1204 5000kv its not as punchy as the 1303's
But still flies great. As you say the feel with the 3 blade prop is better but you get more punch out the 3018 bi-blades
👍Gonna have to get a 3 in, I have a 2.5, but that extra .5 makes a world of difference. Thanks!
Yes it does!
I got the tp3 with the amaxinno 1303 that he had at start real nice
I just built a "Baby Tooth" for a friend. It's using Triprops, I was so surprised the power and most excellent flight characteristics on 1s 450mah.. Great video as always Nick...👍🏻🍻👊🏻
By the way, I'm almost up to 400 subs...🥳
I haven't gotten to explore the 1s pick yet. Keep working the subs will continue to come.
@@NickBurnsFPV
I want to build one for myself, however, no stock on the motors.
I Put Xing 1404 X 4600kv Motors on this frame and yes she runs 2S ! Its a MONSTER and yes hot glue those Tri-Blades on her !! I Miss the old days when it wasnt jacked up prices $$$$
This has been on my list for a bit. Man, now I need to move it higher up.
Im running some 1103/10000KV on 2S and a foxeer toothless. It's 55 grams and flies AMAZING! (usually stick to 2S)
I have very good flight time results with the ldarc 1304 - 4100kv at 4s with 3inch biblades, flying weight 150gram inc 650mah/4s you reach 7 minutes with decent freestyling around. I wish there were more 1304 size light efficient motors around of better quality.
5 Minutes.. wow.. It looks like it flys nice too! Thanks for sharing
So awesome!
very nice build nick looks really fast little guy lol i really love it look super floaty too
Great video love the toothpick 3” quads.
Jumper T-Pro, ELRS 1000mw lite backpack
20mm Sanchez 1.5mm ultralight frame
20mm happymodel pancake fc/vTX/rx
20mm hackrc 4-in-1 ESC
Rcinpower 1202.5 6000kv motors
4S 670 Graphene LiPo which I’ll probably bust in to two 2S might even go 2S 450 or 2S 1600 liion we’ll see.
We will probably need to find a 3d printed canopy. I suggest searching printables.com or thingiverse.com for "foxeer toothless 2 20x20 canopy". When we find one that will work we can either ask a friend with a 3d printer to print or send it to a printing service to print.
Great vid as always.. 👊👊💪💪
use a tri-blade for more grip in turns.. the 3016 would be perfect I think
Tri blades do hold a better in turns, I am looking for more quick prop response in hard turns, like the explosion when I punch over the house.
@@NickBurnsFPV dont' think the 1303 has enough torque for the tri-blade?
Always love your review video. Thank you for this TP3 review. I love the TP3. Flying both on 2s and 3s. The low end power is actually very good. Just need to do some PID tuning. Need to know how to tune the filter setting as well especially if using Betaflight 4.1. if the filters are properly tuned, it will flies even smoother and more efficient. I get over 9 minutes of flight on 3s (combination of fast and cruising)
Hitting and getting stuck in trees. Sounds familiar. Thanks for another great review.
Great review. I plan to build one eventually. Hard to get the parts.
that it is. I believe more parts should be in sometime in the next 10 days.
Yesss m8!
Keep up the hard work.
Love from the Middle East.

NBD camera mount is their best product ever hands down 🙈 just wish they finally made one for 14mm cameras, I am not a fan of these whoop lenses on 2.5"+ rippers.
Filip Radelic you can just unscrew the lens and screw it in thru the hole in the mount and it holds the camera well, the only negative is that you need to
re-focus it
@@schwerergustav5890 woah how is this the first time I’m hearing about this?! Thank you!
Might have to build one like this. I’m always looking for a longer flight time
This is literally exactly what I was trying to build but ended up with something that flys but that's all I can really say about it that's good lol
Need to drop weight or something?
I might need to try those props out I tried the pyrodrone 2in bi-blade that kabab had on the list but it has little no low end at all. so hard hover it will fall or take off. But flys good with 40mm 4 blade
You said something about low throttle control and snap turning control, three blade 3016s are my prescription
Great video btw, also throwing a mob 6 onto a 3 inch frame is an easy 1s tp3, need the motors of course
What did you use to glue the antenna to the canopy? Love the TP3!
welder adhesive is my glue of choice.
ive been flipping my tp3 with 3s 550mah bricks and it goes 9 minutes before i have to land. Granted i'm not maxing the throttle, but i don't really need to in the location im flying at.
My only complaint is i wish it had the option for a real battery strap. Im not sure how they'd do it, but i'd gladly add the weight for a real strap.
Yea it’s not an easy one with the need of the arms to touch between the main sandwich plates.
Great review. It sounds like your really enjoying it. If you had to make a change to make it better you mentioned the motors were not torquey enough? What motor's do you think would be better. Personally I prefer a KV in 5500-6000 range where I give up some flight time for more pop.
I don't have a great suggestion, I haven't explored the new 130x, but a 1404 6000kv could be what I am looking for.
@@NickBurnsFPV Emax just released an eco 1404 6000 and there cheap. Those are my next set. I have a set of RCX1306 6000kv great performers but are amp piggies. Not new by any means but still a great performing motor.
Nice build..👍.. seems to be a nice flyer looks good..👌.. what transmitter are you using?
I use the x-lite v1.
I'm looking at the Tinyhawk freestyle on 1s to get me out of the sim.
long flight times + very docile + very quiet.
What do you think?
[also if you can recommend (inexpensive) goggles for someone with glasses (someone with myopia) that would be great]
Thanks Nick!
Edit: Tinyhawk is the only RTF I know of with more than a 6 min flight time. Compare to Babytooth on 1s for flight time?🤷♂️
Whatever you can do, ill watch it!!
@@NickBurnsFPV Awesome, thanks. I dont suppose you know other pilots that deal with glasses do you? That's my last hurdle😅
Love it!
Great vid. Stay safe
Thanks, will do!
Is there a parts list for all of this? TIA, greetings from NZ
Its all pretty much from fpvcycle.com
Sooo, idk if this a dumb question or not, I have some low kv 1304’s rated for 2-4S would a 1s make it swing for a ‘toothpick’ build? If so I’ll start ordering parts rn...
It they are rated for 2-4s, it might make it swing if the esc can power them, but I suspect it will be either slow or very unstable.
Is that hockey tape holding the motor wires down to the arm? I would like to know all about your taping science.
I don’t believe so, I think hockey tape is fuzzy this is not. I have a link to it way down in the video descriptions
@@NickBurnsFPV I don't see it there. Would you mind telling me what it is, or what video talks about it, or are you that hard-up for click-thru monetization?

got this on my bench right now! im using a 20amp betafpv board just becuase its what i had laying around.. i hope it doesnt add tooooo much extra weight.. oh well. maybe ill swap it out wit ha 12amp eventually and drop the 20amp in something else..
how are these props?? better than 3018's??
oh also - what firmware are u running on this?? 4.1x? 3.5.7?
I haven't tried the 3018s, so I can't speak to those, but others here in the comments speak highly of them. I am running 3.5.7 and have an image of my pids in the video description. I doubt the 20amp board will add more than 2-3grams at the very most.
Look at the Tattu 550 95c 2s. I can get 7 and a half minutes on my toothpick with the some flippy floppys and mostly cruising 👍
We got almost the same build except im using crossfire. I get 4 minutes easy with a 550 mah 3s.
have you tried the three blade props yet? hope bob gets more motors :/
Not yet. I have the props though.
@@NickBurnsFPV Geezz i need to see my eye doctor and upgrade my reading glasses !!! LOL !!
@@rolisaenz no worries
been using these exclusively for 5 months. can't go back to 5inch or other 3 inch
found your sweet spot. Does the search end now?
What is the battery wire you use that has that black cylinder? 😮
The cylinder is a capacitor, which can help to clean up voltage spikes and overall electrical noise. It does have heat shrink holding it to the battery lead wires.
How do I flash BF 3.5.7? I have tried every version of the configurator and 3.5.7 is just not in the list, only 4.0 and newer.
We often have to download manually from the flight controller manufacturers website.
github.com/betaflight/betaflight/releases/tag/3.5.7 you can get it from here now. Find your target and then download it. The betaflight dev's have removed 3.5.7
Your nano 3 looks great, mine looked like balls
Maybe out of focus?
@@NickBurnsFPV yep and unfortunately not able to get in focus
Hii! What would be the current day version of this?
I am not sure how much would have changed over time. fpvcycle does have a parts recommendation for the tp3 on the website.
Gday Nick, very cool flying kababs toothpicks would be very awsome to build if you could actually get any parts from fpvcycle there always sold out, great review i think Bobs a big fan of yours Nick great work mate.👍🛸
yes, bob has a strong following and parts are sadly difficult to come by. I would check on parts about once a week.
What do you prefer mamba 1105 5500kv or the 1303 5000kv?
Yes, I'd also be curious about this. Are they really that much better than 1105s?
Nick Burns thank you for your input!
Last decision before I build: These 1303's or GEPRC 1204's ???
1303 seem to be preferred by most for overall performance and more low end control, but the 1204 will get you a bit more top end speed if that's important. I built mine with 1204s and it's become my favorite build to fly. You really can't go wrong with either option.
Its largely going to depend on the type of flying and normal flying space. As @sixtofive said the wider stator is going to have more overall prop control with less top end pop.
@@NickBurnsFPV Great, thanks to you both!
I tried re focus that camera and couldn't get it to budge. Just got my new one last week. i like the camera, shame they're going away.
Looks like the camera might stick around, but the lens is changing, less fov on the new lens.
i'm kinda surprised you didn't use 4s. it would fit your style better. and you can still use 12a board, at least in my experience and some of others.
I wasn't certain the esc would handle it, seems it would be close to the edge.
Wow the long flight time on this is awesome. I think it will be good on freestyle nick what do you think?
yes, its likely better for freestyle than all out racing.

more power and speed but less throttle control at low speed is what kabab said :)
