- The purpose of this plenary session is to propose a redefinition of prosperity beyond the mere criticism of GDP growth. This panel aims to propose an integrated social-ecological approach to the design of a European future-fit economy, one that couples environmental transition with social well-being.

After hearing this blablabla...I am going to buy a better helmet for the crash.
No large cities can "live within the doughnut."
The most consequential determinant of the future was almost entirely absent from the discussion: greenhouse gases accumulated in the atmosphere, which will determine the basic shape of the future. Climate stability will only be achieved with a "safe carbon budget" of allowable emissions that will stabilize the climate. It was mentioned briefly that high-GDP countries have to cut emissions by 10% per year to avert catastrophe. But everybody got it the wrong way around: you dont need to replace the GDP by a well-being yardstick in order to lessen ecological footprint: you have to ban suicidal pollution levels and reinforce economic redistribution in order to ensure nonconsumerist existential prosperity.
What is social prosperity?
