You shouldn't lose your blog content! But I would maybe contact Squarespace support first just incase so they can double check before you hit go - Maybe it's in the Not Linked section?
Thanks so much for this video. Very helpful. My client wants to switch themes and possibly move to 7.1. If I switch themes to the Bedford family, would I switch and immediately move to 7.1 or would I switch, redesign the website, then switch to 7.1?
If you're planning on moving to 7.1 anyway, I would recommend first upgrading to 7.1 and then doing the redesign because things will likely move around during the upgrade process so it saves you having to do two rounds of redesign!

Hmm that's really strange! I would contact Squarespace. The upgrade option should be available to all 7.0 sites assuming you are using one of the supported templates.
Truthfully every time you redesign your site you will affect its SEO but provided you follow SEO practices, especially keeping all of your URLs the same (or redirecting them) to prevent broken links, you should only see a small temporary dip in SEO which should get back to normal in no time.
You duplicated your 7.0 site before updating to 7.1 - is that untouched duplicated site still in 7.0 mode if you don't like 7.1 and it's considered "irreversible" ? or what happens to the duplicated site?
Yes, the duplicated site will sit untouched on a 2 week free trail plan in your dashboard. You don't really want to have to use this back-up, because it's a bit of a pain transferring your subscription + domain over to the duplicate, but we recommend it anyway as a last defence fall back incase anything goes wrong.
So I changed my 7.0 website to Brine, and I’m ready to update to 7.1, but how do you then change the template in 7.1 to one of the new squarespace templates that looks attractive? Brine is so ugly 😂
Squarespace 7.1 doesn't really have full 'templates' like 7.0 (eg. Brine). There are individual page and section templates available in 7.1 but you will need to add in your own content and slowly redesign your site!

Had the same issue you did - I fixed it by logging out and logging back in! hope it works for you!

There is no additional cost to upgrade and your Squarespace plan can stay the same :)
