Or tell his story. I read a biography of Patton a short time ago and was stunned by all that he had overcome, all the near death moments, his unique family and upbringing (Pioneers turned land barons on mom's side and CSA tragic heroes on dad's side.) And having dyslexia the whole time and nobody knowing what it was. The book revealed letters from Patton to wife where he questions his own intelligence. It's obvious that a lifetime of dyslexia had burned into his brain ...but he never quit or waivered from what he knew was his destiny, despite being politically targeted by those jealous of him or saw him a threat to post-war Europe. Eisenhower told a sniveling Bradley at one point that he simply couldn't spare Patton; that he was indispensable to winning the war in Europe, but that he'd never be allowed above army command. The guy's talent and vision and leadership was indispensable, which was a lot more than could be said about "Brad." I wager, therefore, and having read a MacArthur biography, that his life probably in its own way was as epic and sweeping.
Peck did an epic performance in this movie. Charton Heston offered to play this role with no pay! Would have done a brilliant performance and yet Peck pulled an epic performance!
Macarthur was one of our greatest generals and should be recognized as such. Our current president is one of our greatest presidents in us history and will be rembered as such through out history. Here's to you mister president!!
@@internetstrangerstrangerofweb MacArthur and the military didn’t either… he’d have been a dead man if he’d ever had the balls to visit the Australian troops under his command.
Menacing music and then hits where it hurts ...like all those goddamned North Korean troops caught napping at the incisive and incredible Incheon stroke of brilliance!!
To think Truman recalled him in disgrace after he saved all those damn politicians asses ...mind you like any great commander, arrogance and conceitedness goes with the terrain...cost him dearly.
one of the great grand master of film composers.....
Those Five Stars give me the shivers!
Esp since they weren't bullshit, political, Milley-stars.
