Honestly, kinda glad these don't tickle my fancy at all. I have a little drawer full of sparkly topper and wet look eyeshadows, and own a lot of pretty singles! I don't need the upcharge on these and I have comperable shades of the ones I would have wanted, anyway! Happy for anyone who wanted one/got one, but glad to use those dollars for another item I find more exciting and just avoid over-consumption in general.
What are your favorite wet look shadows?? I found an old wet n wild comfort zone palette in my stash and omg I forgot how elite it was 😂 it's actually beautiful. Not sure about the new ones... mines literally probably 10 years old😅😬
@@denise8791 I am a massive fan of Space Cowboy from Urban Decay of course, but I also love Twinkle Twinkle from the Sephora Colourful eyeshadow collection (it's like space cowboy but sheerer base that is less warm). From colourpop, I love their super shocks in Ice Cream (icy purple-blue wet look), Ritz (almost identical dupe of Space Cowboy), Frog (light pink with blue/green/pink glitter wet look) and Cosmic (champagne with almost no base colour). I also think the Glitter Puck from Half-Magic Beauty is excellent wet look eyeshadow. It's very similar to Frog from colourpop
@@TheSim1derful I just ordered the moondust quad with spacecowboy rides again and whatever the other 2m3 shades are! I'm pretty excited! Chantecaille has their own version of the baked gelee. They have been out for years. The luminescent eye shades come in eight shades, at the moment. They are constantly coming out with new shades. I always wait for a sale. They are pricey, but many people love them.
The only reason I'm not grabbing a shade is because I don't like any of the duos together. I'd rather just buy a single like I would with the UD Moondust.
Nice! I was most interested in the "still at the club" duo but I can get an even more beautiful duo from terramoons carbon & mocha twilight! The two of them together cost around 17 bucks... But no custom compact.
I love these kinds of videos because they give me a reality check on the products that would be pretty to look at, but I would never use. I've been much more into matte or metallic looks this season, and I have lots of sparkly toppers that I rarely or never use even outside of that.
I was chatting with my cosmetic chemist friend about these shadows, and he told me that, even factoring in the formulation and finish, there was absolutely no justification for the price of these duos (especially when you factor in Patrick Ta's shitty packaging). He also called out Patrick Ta specifically as a brand that takes customers for a RIDE with their prices vs the cost to produce the product. He also called out Tom Ford, Charlotte Tilbury, and Pat McGrath for the same shady pricing. So keep that in mind before you buy my friends.
Yes! If Im buying expensive shit, I want it to feel luxury. Quality compacts not just, lets spray this plastic rose gold so it looks fancy. Looking at you for this one Ms Tillbury, she's the worst for this 😂
@@lolwhat2628 100%. I was also gifted the gold Patrick Ta duo from a friend of mine who's in the beauty sphere and gets a lot of PR and guess what?? It's nice, but not $42 USD (even more where I am in Canada). I also just strongly disagree with the idea of makeup being "an investment." An investment is something pays off for you long term. Makeup is just consumption. Which is fine, but framing expensive makeup as an "investment" incentivizes overspending and overconsumption
Patrick Ta thinks he is Chanel. Also, your friend is so beyond right. Chanel also isn’t worth their prices but at least they have earned top tier status. Not that I think it’s okay, but these companies thinking they can charge that much that haven’t been around long. Chanel has been around since 1910. So 114 years strong.
I like your look of today. I think the reason for these duos is the one and done eye shadow look, that I really love❤❤❤. You do not need to spend time on what colour to use for your morning look. They make your eye look simple but gorgeous
I like them. I got all the shades beside the copper and pink. I like that they pick up on a brush really easily and there is minimal fallout. Very user friendly. That’s what makes these feel more luxurious. Overall the effect on the eye isn’t super special or impactful. They’re like sophisticated glitter toppers.
Ooh interesting. What kind of brush do you use and do you spray it first? I have still at the club and I find the fall out quite bad with the sparklier shade.
I caved and used a code and purchased the exact same two. I mainly wanted the Still at the Club one and then went for it with the other one. I hope i am happy with them. Your comparisons really helped, thank you !
Thank you for this very thorough review. I have so many “special shades”. I knew I didn’t need these. I have so many indie shades and shadows that satisfy.
I heard “We Need Better Lighting” was the most sparkly out of all the duos and the best for layering. I'm so curious about it now but Still At The Club is my favorite color and the one I ordered. I may buy the other one in the near future.
I wasnt gonna get these but I ordered 2 of them because like you mentioned, they are investment pieces and Im a sucker for taupe purple glitters. Amazing comparisons as always Amanda.

However, I don't already have anything like it, so ... 🤷🏻♀️ Everyone needs to do their own thing. Personally, I'd buy Still At The Club again, but that's my thing.
Only at the start but thank you for being Detective Amanda on the hunt for the best products and value (when I say value I don’t just mean price) if I only need one or two of something then it’s better than a drawer full of things I don’t use.
