I was at a college program in Colorado and I just felt so down and out of it. My best friend had left for the army and I had just broken up with my girlfriend, I just wanted to give up and go home. However, it was announced that there would be an overnight trip to the mountains from Friday to Saturday, and I just decided "Y'know what? Screw it lets go." For whatever reason, I decided to sleep outside that night so I grabbed a sleeping bag, a mat, and two thick blankets. I fell asleep around sunset and I woke up in the middle of the night to use the bathroom. I put this song on my phone to relax and go back to sleep, and when I went to lay down, I was just taken aback. I had never seen so many stars before in my life, and after a few minutes of gazing at the stars and listening to this song, I even saw a shooting star pass by. It was just so beautiful and serene that I truly felt at peace inside for the first time in a long time, and I will forever associate this song with the memory of that beautiful night.
For me, I was on a weekend trip to New York City a few years ago. I was staying in an old hotel in Harlem. A blizzard ended up rolling through NYC and left every thing with about 3 feet of snow on it. I was in a new relationship and missing my girlfriend very much. I felt frustrated because my weekend trip has just been extended for a few more days and would have to wait longer to see her. I remember laying down and listening to this song. It's not exactly a happy song, but this version just really mellowed me out. It was nice to take in the beauty of the city that never sleeps, now quite and covered in snow.
what an amazing and wonderful experience you had! i'm so happy for you, thank you for sharing :) i look forward to the brighter days ahead of my own life
they changed the bpm and key, so it has a different feel and timing then the other, also some different strumming patterns and the drums are very quiet and parker is singing very low compared to how he usually sings i got u
It's December 19 of 2020, 11 p.m. , and I'm sitting here in my backyard looking at the stars, feeling the fresh wind, listening to this. It's a great feeling
I remember when this first came out, everyone started to hate but now everyone enjoy it, only had to listen, listen when you are happy or hurt because now they took sense in your head :3
Going through a horrible separation with the woman I wanted to spend the rest of my life with and the day things ended, I found this song and it was EVERYTHING I needed. It hit me so hard to hear "I made the best of what I thought was impossible." because I've been living with CPTSD for 14 years and came from a life I truly didn't know I was going to survive. I feel absolutely empty and broken, but this song was there for me. Absolutely a beautiful masterpiece.
i feel like this song resonates with everyone on relatively the same level. we all have that moment this song takes us back to when you hear it. almost like they wrote this song for those moments in our lives
[Verse 1] Lead you so far down I could tell you’d never been Told me that time’s near And how it will change everything I’m not so open like the window you are The glass just reflects the scar Told me that you had to leave But how the fuck does that change anything? [Chorus] Your glare is the faintest No brightness to show I made the best of what I thought was impossible You were the spade I used to dig this hole Blistered my skin to the bone [Verse 2] Swear all the pain’s done No trace or tremor here Or am I still numb? Have I been this whole year? So let me bite down, feel the clench in my teeth Till I come around then relapse and repeat Then relapse and repeat [Chorus] Your glare is the faintest No brightness to show I made the best of what I thought was impossible You were the spade I used to dig this hole Blistered my skin to the bone Now you’re gone Now you’re gone Now you’re gone Now you’re gone Now you’re …
I might have lost a best friend but thankfully she left me which that amazing band which is now one of my fav. So in a sense, she never left.(And I'm not even really into that genre).
Your glare is the faintest No brightness to show I made the best of what I thought was impossible You were the spade I used to dig this hole Blistered my skin to the bone ^damn...
It was so wild. I don't even know what happened. We stayed up till 2 AM laughing and then it seems like the day immediately after I was just your fucking mistake. You got over me so quickly but I'm still stuck on you. All I can do is listen to these sad fucking songs and wonder what I meant to you
Samantha Ball I honestly didn't like navy blue all to much, it still has a spot on one of my Spotify playlist but I honestly didn't like it as much as this. This is beautiful.
can someone please help me out and let me know what this EP is titled? forgive me for my stupid question but truly would love a reply/answer back pleasee and thank you.

Hey Ben! Pandemic-doom-scrolling Anthony needed to read this. Thanks for sharing.

@@jackjurphy5020 lol
I love how they changed the sound of the song entirely. It's not just an acoustic version, they made it a whole new song.
no they didnt?
I just feel they made it more dynamic than just converting the song to an acoustic version. It brings a different feel to the song. Just my opinion.
I wish i knew what you were trying to say.
+yourdailymexican well I wrote this two years ago haha. Just gave the song a different overall feel.
they changed the bpm and key, so it has a different feel and timing then the other, also some different strumming patterns and the drums are very quiet and parker is singing very low compared to how he usually sings i got u
"Swear all the pain's done
No trace or tremor here, or am I still numb?
Have I been all these years?"
This band is theraputic to me. Truly.
I used to sing this to my daughter when she was a newborn. She'd fall asleep everytime.
Parker's voice is so serene and somewhat calming regardless how depressing and dark blue the song may be. I hope they do another ep like this.
I agree so much
not dark blue.."Navy Blue"
samutalyist no it’s indigo
@@I.am.arising r/woosh
parker's colors:
navy blue
darker shade of blue
indigo
I come back listening to this everyday.
'Blistered my skin to the bone'
that part was just freaking good.
Any labor contruction worker can relate
We’ve all got someone that brings this song to life.
This always reminds me of looking up at the stars with the feeling of emptiness in my heart and the taste of infidelity in the air.
Dont think too much
Infidelity is a very bitter taste.
Well said :\
edgy
Spot on friend. Welcome to the fuck your apology I'm not sorry for anything club.
It's December 19 of 2020, 11 p.m. , and I'm sitting here in my backyard looking at the stars, feeling the fresh wind, listening to this. It's a great feeling
This song makes me feel numb at almost everything but still enjoy that sane feeling
One of the best TSSF songs in both versions
this version is perfect
They will never put out anything bad, i swear
This acoustic version made me heartbroken for no apparent reason.. i love it so much i could cry
8 years ago I got this album first time listening to story so far. This song hit me deep still playing 12-10-21
I remember when this first came out, everyone started to hate but now everyone enjoy it, only had to listen, listen when you are happy or hurt because now they took sense in your head :3
+wiro Mc Most people were pretty hyped for the album. Like OMG NEW TSSF ALBUM OMGOMGOGMOG but then all they had were sad songs.
2020 Vibes. Still my all time favorite TSSF song.
Going through a horrible separation with the woman I wanted to spend the rest of my life with and the day things ended, I found this song and it was EVERYTHING I needed. Still hits differently every time. Haven’t see the homies in 8 years.
How hasn’t this reached a million yet
They are amazing acoustic.
Parker’s voice was always one of my favorites when they do Four Years live? It’s so beautiful
i feel like this song resonates with everyone on relatively the same level. we all have that moment this song takes us back to when you hear it. almost like they wrote this song for those moments in our lives
[Verse 1]
Lead you so far down
I could tell you’d never been
Told me that time’s near
And how it will change everything
I’m not so open like the window you are
The glass just reflects the scar
Told me that you had to leave
But how the fuck does that change anything?
[Chorus]
Your glare is the faintest
No brightness to show
I made the best of what I thought was impossible
You were the spade I used to dig this hole
Blistered my skin to the bone

Swear all the pain’s done
No trace or tremor here
Or am I still numb? Have I been this whole year?
So let me bite down, feel the clench in my teeth

Your glare is the faintest

I made the best of what I thought was impossible

Now you’re gone
Now you’re gone
Now you’re gone
Now you’re …
hits so different...

This song is like hot coco for the ears. Especially when you're driving though the rural Midwest in the winter time.
I might have lost a best friend but thankfully she left me which that amazing band which is now one of my fav. So in a sense, she never left.(And I'm not even really into that genre).
This is just brilliant. Cheers to tssf.

You told me that you had to leave but how the fuck does that change anything
It was so wild. I don't even know what happened. We stayed up till 2 AM laughing and then it seems like the day immediately after I was just your fucking mistake. You got over me so quickly but I'm still stuck on you. All I can do is listen to these sad fucking songs and wonder what I meant to you
incredible
i was hoping for more stuff like clairvoyant but this is not even close. i dont know what it is about that song
20 years later if you are still watching you are a legend
You guys should check out their underground stuff that Kevin Geyer and Parker did its called "Kevin Geyer"
You were the spade I used to dig this hole, blistered my skin to the bone......
Only thing she left for me is her music
THE GLASS JUST REFLECTS YOUR SCAR
Favorite
better than the original
this song hurts
wasn't really a fan of navy blue, but damn this is the best song on this album
But how could you not like it? Haha, I swear that song started growing on me after I actually listened to it a few times
i just didn't like it? I don't know what you want me to say here man.
Samantha B It's cool. Everyone has their opinion. Personally, i think this a great version of this song. I'm liking their acoustic stuff a lot.
Samantha Ball I honestly didn't like navy blue all to much, it still has a spot on one of my Spotify playlist but I honestly didn't like it as much as this. This is beautiful.
june 16 2023 and im missing u
Fuck yes. TSSF you have done it again.
I heard there Acoustic stuff first then transitioned over to there heavier music it’s all good music
PLEASE would someone bless my world with chords/tabs to this ?
This song sounds like a song from the early 2000’s and it’s on the tip of my tongue I can’t figure it out
It seems as if Navy Blue was the cleanest cut song on this EP, might just be me though
IM THERE FRIDAY
i dont mind it but i like the faster more "heavy" stuff they do
Error404: glass not found
I made the best of what I thought was impossible
Sick :)
I literally just noticed this is the same song as it’s faster paced version…oh wow haha
Only to those who can relate/have heard the other version of the song: this is the original take.
I'm not so open like the window you are, the glass just reflects the scar
fucking great !!!
2018 ❤
"You were the spade I used to dig this hole...
Blister my skin to the bone.."
I pray for the chords/tabs of this
better than the original by far.
420k views. Tssf forever
It's clearly parker singing wtf is everyone on about ;/
One person made a comment.
cortizone121 Yeah exactly, everyone
How this changes anthing
anyone know more songs like this ?? kinda laidback but still punk ?? idk how to describe it ( lol it's for a playlist )
uh front porch step's album "aware"... maybe
Modern Baseball
Sing the melody of the original "the glass" over this. You'll like it!
Yes!! Like the part when he says "how the fuck does that change anything"
+Robert Winkiel Man, both versions are so lit. This one is for brooding, the other is uplifting haha.
For the weirdest reason it reminds me of the band cold.
Anybody know the tabs or where an accurate version is online?
Just download Spotify they have this whole album on there.
Anyone have a tab for this?
What tuning?
can someone please help me out and let me know what this EP is titled? forgive me for my stupid question but truly would love a reply/answer back pleasee and thank you.
Anthony Matta its just called songs of the story so far. It'll have a dog as the cover
"songs of"
thats what its called
2020 Gang?
I thought the guitar sounded good in the original but FUCK
Yea..
I like it but wish it was the same tempo as the original.
Herro, sadboooois
Are these just acoustic versions of the songs from "What you don't see"?
Yes
That as well as "Navy Blue" and "Waiting In Vain"
they said they were planning to make an album with just acoustic covers of their songs and others, so i guess this is it.
Who's fucking singing?
