Yeah thats an Equinox edition mini, they came in grey, silver and purple. I own the purple (Amaranth) variant and have the same interior. There was only 750 of this edition ever made.
That's super cool. I personally love the idea of no gauges except for the single fuel level indicator light for that specific setup. I would love to see what something like this feels like driving, looks like a total blast. Keep up the awesome work!
I love the SSR FLII wheels, I snagged the only set I have seen come up in Aus and have nearly finished rennovating them. I am putting a carbed 4AGE engine in mine which like this one isn't the biggest powerplant but will definitely be fast enough!
You are so right: my RHD 96 Sprite has the shelf dash and only a speedometer and fuel gauge - when that’s all you’ve got behind the steering wheel, you spend more time “ looking out”!
No ,no, no gauges are to important to negate. The rest of the car is great. Everything up on the dash flies out. Every Mini driver knows that. Not gaining much space. But it is his car, let him eat cake and enjoy his stress free dash. Cool car
Nothing at all wrong with a base model D-series. 100-ish HP in a Mini is plenty enough to have a blast with. I've had my D16Z6 in my Elf since 2009, and to be completely honest, I couldn't swear for certain that I've ever even had the VTEC kick in. I do think I would at least pop a 90 MPH speedo in there though, and maybe a gas gauge.
OK. So my question is…wrt wheel diameter and diff ratio, is there a taller diff ratio that gets used in these conversions? I am converting an Australian Morris 1500 in a similar manner, but want to retain the original 12” diameter wheels, but I think the Honda had 14” rims, normally. Can you get a taller crownwheel and pinion to match the change in wheel diameter?
Was thinking, “So you don’t need to know how fast you’re going ?”…..but realised even if you’re speeding, the police will be too busy admiring you to think of chasing you down for a ticket. “Aw..!..leddim go !..leddim Go-o..!”
Don't you have some sort of road-worthiness test (like UK's MOT) in Canada that would fail this car due to lack of speedo? This would be a speeding ticket waiting to happen in my hands 🤣
I think those seats match the equinox model of the mini. Great build, as always.
Yep, my old equinox had that sun logo interior

Nice build. MCM best kit. John is the man.
Nice Mini !
The intro was so fun to watch.
Definitely an Equinox interior. Same as my mini back in London.
Always great to see these videos!!! Not the day is complete
One day I will be able to afford a Honda swap. Maybe I can even afford to have SMCO do it for me.
Looks like a Mini Equinox in Charcoal grey. Quite a rare car

How is it legal to not have a speedometer?
Is the BMW shifter mod something that can be done easily, or does it take some machining work? Something you might do a video on?
Cracking looking build 👌🏼 and like others have said it’s an Equinox interior (at least the door cards anyway). Almost got one a few years back…
Years ago a friend of mine bought a 1.5 d series off me that I’d swapped a z6 vtec head onto
He put that in a mini ! Was a blast
Another lovely build Philip - definitely a Rover Mini Equinox in Charcoal Grey (one of three colours offers for this limited edition)
That’s super clean 🔥🔥

Looks amazing as always!
Looks just like my 90 Mini. I have the dashboard/ cardboard wrapped in Vinyl.

how lovely
Think I would be very nervous seeing a cop car with no speedo in the car. Apart from that it's a really cool mini
Great stuff..🤫👍
Shits bussin!

I like the idea of no gauges but I would definitely collect more tickets that way...🤣 Is it a D15B motor in it?
Looks like a Mini Equinox. They came in 3 colours Armaranth, Charcoal Grey and Platinum Silver
Looks like it might be a mini equinox
Definitely an Equinox
You have to have a speedo, surely, for regulation?

Did you have to change gear ratios in the trans at all?

“Aw..!..leddim go !..leddim Go-o..!”
The lack of gauges is novel, but not having a clue how fast you're going might become an issue at some point...
look like mini equinox doorcard
Nice build, guys! However, I hate the idea of no gauges - I always want to know the status of the motor
How loud does it sound from the inside when you're doing highway driving
Maybe Canada is different than here in Australia but how is that road legal and registered without having a speedometer?
Where is your shop…I want to have a Mini Engine swap done please.
Was going to it’s an equinox interior but everyone beat me to it
how can i get that mini
It’s a 1996 Exuinox

Love the car but the logic on the gauges is bizarre. His car though
