And to be balanced, what is the worst thing about self publishing!
You might be wondering ‘I want to publish my children’s book, what do i need to know?’ I’ll discuss which is best self publishing or traditional publishing, so that you can answer the question ‘how do i get my picture book published’.

• SELF PUBLISHING V TRAD...
This is probably the most informative comparison I have seen. Thank you! Although seemingly your experience is in children's books you clearly talk about publishing as a whole. Self publishing is really running a business. And trad pub is really slow and unreliable. So like in everything if we take initiative and responsibility the result will be best!
Such a good point. :)
Only you could make an informative, probably boring, video into a fun chat packed with information😊 Thank you!
It would be nice to make a video about the specific role of all these people who are included in the process -editor, proof reader, designer etc-, if you feel like it.
Thanks for the idea! I’ll add it to my topics 😊
Great video. Thank you!!
On point as usual.
I wanted to ask if you might’ve made a video on how to put copyright onto your own book if you’re trying to self publish it online maybe?
Hi Jules,
This is Antoinette .
Thank YOU for all wonderful information on publishing you have provided here.
You are an exceptional person, author and most of all illustrator.
I remember you did a video on marketing strategies. And I was wondering if there are any new techniques out there that you can introduce to us?
You are so kind 🥰
I’ll add that to my video topics for this year. Thanks Antoinette 🙏
Hi Jules,
Antoinette again. Did you do a live stream in the past few days? I wasn't able to attend but I wanted to watch the recording of it. Is it recorded and put on your list of videos? I couldn't find it.
Hello Jules
I was thinking about taking your 'make a picture book' class.
I can't draw or anything, but I have written a dozen stories {originally for my grandkids}.
Will your class teach me what to do since I'm not an artist? Love your watercolors.
Yes I give masterclasses in different sorts of things you might need to draw for picture books. Hope it helps! :)
If an author opts to go the route of self-publishing.. how do you get hard copies of the book printed for self-distribution? Is it all done through Amazon?
Yes, you can order 'author copies' which doesn't have the royalty added - it's cheaper.
And is that done through Amazon? @@JulesMarriner
This might be an unpopular perspective but unless there is a publishing house ran by neurodivergent individuals and who caters to neurodivergent individuals and who care about support and who understand neurodivergent individuals then I absolutely and personally refuse to have any book which I write traditionally published and I refuse to give a single dime of my money to a traditional publishing house.
Is there another print-on-demand service you recommend or is it Amazon?
Some people I know use Ingram Spark. I haven't used it myself, but worth comparing.
@@JulesMarriner Thank you Jules. In fact I think know I remember you saying that in another one of your videos.
