I’m so incredibly proud of how Barca played and controlled that game. That midfield three with Aitana, Walsh and Patri gave Lyon no chance to build and get a rhythm goin. I said Barcelona is at their best when CGH is terrorizing full backs and the entire back 4 as a whole. Dumornay’s speed got nullified because she barely got to touch the ball. Matter of fact the entire front 3 got nullified and I was shocked.
Now to Salma. Wasn’t her best game but did just enough. I don’t think she can play that striker position especially against the elites . She can’t play in tight spaces and cannot sort out her feet fast enough. Her movements as a striker is not good. I prefer her at the wings and I’m ecstatic that Pajor is coming in because she’s a strike.
Totally agree with all of this. Especially your CGH and Salma P points. Love her as a player but with her back to the goal she’s totally neutralized. But she did attract a lot of attention which opened things up for CGH and Aitana. I was actually surprised how much of the match Barca controlled. Really appreciate you hanging out and chiming in!!

Lets just remember the flack Alexia has had to take since she's come back from injury for having to build up to her best, not being up to par, "not being a threat". That goal meant EVERYTHING to her. You could see it. That goal cements the fact that you cannot doubt her. She may be coming back bit by bit... but that talent is there.

from starter in the 1st semi-final to on the bench for the final; comes on to relieve Frido and get her badge of honour -- a boot to the face; and then, like the tough, little fighter that she is, makes the pass when getting clobbered (again), rolls over, picks herself up to bring down the return ball and make the perfect through ball for Claudia Pina to serve the Queen.
Claudia Pina:
perpetually on the bench but always ready as one of the great goal scorers and goal makers in word football.
Aitana and, to finish, the Queen... how corny and cliché is that?

She spent half the first season just passing everything to Patri and I was thinking, why don't they just play Engen who has learnt the role?
Then she blossomed and I could understand what they saw and trusted she would become when they signed her.

The defensive solidity took away lyon attackers. We caged their wingers by overloading the extremes. We had positional superiority and if their misfielders came forward it was keira who dropped into the defense to close the halfspaces with patri and aitana closing the pockets and shift as a unit to force a backpass or mistske there was no room for lyon to run dribble and thats how you play against lyon. Like bayern munchen did last year or 2 years ago. Have a solid organization and controle over the game and gradually attack them and trsck bsck as a unit when you lose it. And lyon had no answer some nervy moments but they couldnt pack a punch plus our fullbacks bronze and rolfo were unbelievably aggressive give them no time on the ball and pushed them back. Lucy inverrting in the midfield and mariona dropping deep and hsve numerical superiority all over the pitch we had to win that midfield battle so thwy couldnt press us like they did in Turin they tried but becuase we were very tight on the ball and controlle was the name od the game barca expected the man on man press but they saw quickly this is not gonna work so danilie van de donk and horan had to sit back you cant chase the ball all the time.and got tired. And sat back. We just had 1 problem and thats an pure striker 9. But with ewa pajor it fixes alot of problems. This was a hood controlled match from.our side. With mariona leaving we just need s Linda Caicedo or Cascerino or Kika Nazareth to fil her place. LIKED THIS VERY MUCH!!! KEEP UP THR GOOD WORK.
