  • Prioritizing self-care isn’t selfish and doesn’t require a complete overhaul of your life. You can engage in self-care by doing tiny things that can have a big impact on every aspect of your well-being-spiritual, social, physical, and intellectual.

This is the first "take time for self care" promotion that's actually clear about how to do that sustainably and holistically.

It never occurred to me that Jesus slept through that storm because he felt *exhausted*. I thought the point of that was just to highlight how the forces of nature are no big deal to him. Thanks for the new insight!

@@travismarin2595 2:29-3:03 I’m not sure why they’d bring up the Savior’s mortal ministry & human exhaustion if it didn’t play some part in His fatigue. Everyone needs to just be open to possibilities. We don't know. I can't believe the Bible bashing and correcting from Christians. Getting all the details exactly right isn't what being a disciple is about. Love, kindness, service. Stop correcting people. This video made it sound like Jesus was exhausted, so it IS A NEW INSIGHT. Insight means something between the lines of the facts. Revelation is insight into truth about scripture stories and how we can like it to ourselves. The point is Jesus took time to rest and care for himself.

So timely for me! After sooo many months, heck, years, trying to make this happen, I actually was told in a priesthood blessing that it was "crucial" for me and for my family that I really do take care of myself. 😅 And I think I can finally see clearly enough not just why but, most importantly, how.

TRUE! If your blessing said CRUCIAL, then you probably need to think about what it would be like for those around you if you DIDN'T care for yourself: A) You probably wouldn't be around anymore to help them. B) They would learn the SAME self destructive habits as you had lived.
Not trying to judge, but seriously trying to help🫂 You sound like a NEAT person 👍🏻

This video was a gift from God, I was feeling guilty for spending so much to buy myself 5 artificial plants and a couple of other small decor items for my cubicle, but it’s literally the first time I’ve bought myself something in almost a year - and I’ve spent hundreds of dollars helping so many other people - this is a reminder that it’s okay to do nice things for oneself once in awhile, and not to feel guilty for doing so :) I love Jesus Christ so much. I got so caught up in self care that I just needed to remember to forget myself… except for my health needs. And to pray morning, noon, and night.

There are also seasons in life when we can do more and others when we can't. We don't need to be discouraged when something shows up that blocks our good desires to always be going and helping. We will usually get back to ourselves in a while. In the meantime, slow down and invite Christ to be with you and give you his peace and strength. ❤️

What if asking for help isn’t being a burden but rather sharing a gift and allowing God to show you His love through the hands of His children.

One of my favorite ways to recharge is to take a walk. It gives you the most bang for your buck (energy). Exercise, talking with a friend or going alone to pray, contemplating, meditating, enjoying nature, laughing, crying (when needed), blowing off a bad attitude or bad day are just some ways walks can benefit you. During Covid-19 lockdowns I made a walking group in our ward and it made the loneliness I was feeling lessen by a large degree. I love walking!

I struggle significantly w/major depression & anxiety, & fell into another big depressive episode recently & been really neglecting myself. The other day I had the thought “How do I develop love for myself?” & thought about service: service helps develop love for others, so would self-service help me develop love for myself? I nearly dismissed that since I imagined self-service being selfish, but 0:24 reassured me that it’s Self-Care 😊 & that serving is showing care & love!
I also find it lovely that Self-Care will bring about lasting joy (3:17), & that it’s essentially an eternal principle leading to an exalted eternal fullness of joy someday!! ☀️

In my experience, properly finding balance and prioritizing the right things at the right time requires divine help & the grace of God.
"The Holy Ghost... will show unto you all things what ye should do." 2 Nephi 32:5.
We need to try to live worthy to hear and follow the small simple whisperings of the spirit, and repent sincerely when we make mistakes so we can humbly return to the Lord and get our lives back on track.
God LOVES us ❤️, and when our lives are aligned with his will, we will feel his love too, and self care will be easier for us to find and choose.
Also, beware choosing to engage in things that are idol/idle worship that distract and take us away from God. Let the spirit be your guide. 🙏❤️

This is a constant struggle for us moms with small children in the church. I often feel exhausted after giving all of my time and effort in serving all my life that it left me depleted. I also feel resentment that I am constantly expected to give and give, it caused me to have temper problems and anxiety and I feel that the Lord might be disappointed in me for taking time to care for myself. This video just clarified to me that even if God expected so many things from us, we are also expected to care for our own needs, to become better people and better disciples.

Maybe it wasn't about exhaustion at all. Maybe He was down there wide awake, choosing to rest, simply not worried about it, and letting the world rage around Him as it tends to. If you have all power over everything it's not a stretch to not worry sp much about it. But being full of compassion as He tends to be, and understanding of us not having all power, and asking us where the doubts come from, if we ask Him, in faith, He helps us. I don't doubt He ever worked to exhaustion, Im sure he did often. But I don't think that's what this one is about. Adrenaline and cortisol are plenty to push past tired under fears of sinking. He wasn't worried about it, and could afford to rest. He turned off the phone on vacation, and let the work storm rage. As it will. And when it became expedient, then He calmed it at His command. He isn't afraid of a raging storm. I love that about Him.

Unfortunately, as was stated in the video, taking time for yourself is often considered selfish… these woman will actually be surprised when they realize there is nothing wrong with pursuing their own interests. Your children will learn a lot if they understand that sometimes mommy needs to take time to take care of herself.

I would love to have a non-religious version of your video about protecting children from pornography to share far and wide. My child would be confused by the language but the video is so valuable. If other people can protect their children from this destructive path, it will make your children safer, too. Please cast a wide net. Let’s work together to turn the tide.
