Looking at this, Aldi is going the same way. Recent visit, 5 tills, 3 unmanned, 1 staffed and 1 self checkout. They just treat customers as a nuisance. Wee birdie told me that after 8pm it will be self checkout only!! I won't go back and will use my local shops.
The trouble with Lidl's is trying to pay for your shopping. My local Lidl has now got 6 self service tills ( all card) the 3 cash tills recently been converted over. ( I say 3 but it was 2 really as one was always out of action ) It was not before time they were a nightmare, they should remove the lot. There is now one manned till on which is used for trolleys, so if you have a basket you wait behind a train carriage of trolleys. It took me 10 mins to get my 2 items but was going to take a fortnight to pay for them. No thanks, I put them back. My life isn't long enough for this, and cash customers are obviously second class. I'm not going back.
