Adrian says he wishes more people would rather than landing hard! Good luck with your sol. Eurostar looks nice will have to get in one at some point. I have booked an experience flight at Dunkeswell in an Ikarus. Asked him to do a few stalls and steep decending turns. Perhaps not the usual experience flight 🤣
@@mitchellmoxo it's a Flight Design CT2K. Powered by rotax 912s. I think it's even more upmarket than Ilkarus C42. I think I will end up with a trusty skyranger as both CT2K and C42 probably outside of my price range! But the more you fly the more what you are willing to budget!
@@stratotramp6243 hi mate no I haven’t flown since I wrote that comment! Been unlucky with the weather had my last 4 cancelled. Got one tomorrow afternoon so hopefully goes ahead. Plane looks nice, probably a skyranger for me too! Where are you flying from usually ?
This is great man, I was taught first option is the go around and if everything meets a good landing then move to option 2, which is to land. A lot of pilots do not think a go around is an option and do not practice them as often as they should. Well done on using sound judgement.
Your Videos are Great Training Aids....I have an acquaintance that is learning to fly in G-TOMJ & I am going to suggest he watch your videos......I think he has solo'ed in MJ but he could learn a lot from your videos ;-)
Thanks Peter. Glad to know they help. There is the occasional error from editing! Like I say something stupid in this one like 'airspeed is one reason for a stall' rather that stating it as 'low airspeed'. hope to do more flying content soon going there sat. Wind looks too high but can do my navigation exam instead if so.
@@stratotramp6243 As I say " I have an acquaintance that is training at Sackville & I sometimes question him on certain bits and he either doesn't grasp everything he is being taught or it isn't explained clearly enough to him? Nice record of your solo Mike. Mine seems a very long time ago now (actually I suppose it is!) Cessna Aerobatic at Ipswich Airport (now a housing estate) Good voice over and nice music- Thank for sharing
It's Martin lol but thanks Tim! 🤣 You are in the dedication at the end as one of the pilots who makes landing 'routine' everyday now 👍 Shame about closing airports I sometimes wonder if I'll have anywhere left to fly in 10 years.
Great video I really enjoyed that. I think it's probably quite rare for a student to go-around on their first solo, but you are the captain now and only you can make that decision and if you made it then it is the correct decision. Sackville Farm seems to have a great mix of a tricky approach with the luxury of a long forgiving runway and I like to see you have been taught to land as close to the threshold as possible even though to do that you need to fly through the trees, it will give you confidence when the strips get even more challenging. Very well put together that 360 cam works great in the CT2K and I can see you spent a lot of time producing it, good job and congratulations Captain.
@@stratotramp6243 and don't worry, after almost 1000 hours on a flex, I also went around on my first solo in my CT. Looking back at the video my instructor took, I'm glad I did. I ballooned too high and with only 350M to play with it was the right call. Loving the 360 cam...what do you use?
@@coggersl1 GoPro Max for those. It suits the cockpit as it does struggle with the distance compared to the other ones. Basically film in 360 all the time then pick angles in the software afterwards.
Hi Elite, Thanks for your comment & intrest. This was just GoPro max and Hero 8 for side view. I have new cameras now. The GoPro Max is a great bit of kit and super flexible as you capture all angles then choose what to show later. Though I've learnt to go a bit easier with the wide angle so there is less distortion in my newer videos. Everything ends up a bit banana shaped if you don't go close enough in. Just got a new DJI min 3 pro drone that I hope to use for future content. Not been able to upload much recently as aircraft is broken!
Nice, new pilot. 👍 1st tip be patient it will take longer than you expect. 3 things tend to stop you from flying the most - wind direction, cloud and aircraft serviceability. Not much other than that. If you have a choice of airfields pick the one with more strips (higher chance of favourable winds), asphalt can also stay open longer in winter (less likely to get waterlogged). Other than that just enjoy it and try to get in different aircraft via experience days.
Great video hope to do my solo soon in a Eurostar. No shame in going around !

@Stratotramp - Sorry about that Martin. I was talking to Mike on the phone at the time. That's my old age creeping through! 😱
