I'm afraid I don't know anyone in the Midlands that does a service, most of the repairs and services are done by guys who are in Wales, not sure you could maybe try Edd Rhodes who I got my Stryker off, you will find him of Facebook. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful.
It did go quiet on the band for a while with the skip, but its back again today from Europe, although my noise levels seemed to have risen at the homebase😞
@@Natei Thats a shame , very different when on high ground , sometimes you can hear a pin drop on the frequency. S5 noise here at the moment which has gone up from S3
@@Al.26TC101 Usually I'd get S5 as standard, pretty bad I know but I do live in a dense area, something is causing the noise not inside as I've switched everything off apart from that socket that powers my radio before, It does go down but only just below S5, but right now I'm getting S9, completely unusable. I miss dxing lol

Hello yes its an old radio and hard to come by I think. I would say yes loads better than a 6900 I always seem to get through in a pile up as audio IMO is excellent. Im afraid I don't rate the 6900 to well crt9900 or anytone 6666 are also good radios. With the 6900 the stock mic is terrible so you would have to buy a power mic. Just my opinion and hope that helps. Also add that the DX 70 is 100 watts out the back. Good luck whatever you choose.

Ive been up and around there, went up the licky hils 2 years ago I think it was and tried a few places around the area, will defiantly give it another go 🙂
@@Al.26TC101 yeah honestly go up the top of nimmings lane off the A456, then you have a good lookout over Birmingham and the black country. On a weekend evening or during holidays the black country CB is very busy with some real odd and interesting characters - more of the chatting all night on 19 rather than calling DX types

@@RadioMalopolska Its a great radio and I think its the audio on it that does it for me. Always trying to get my audio spot on at home, but with the Alinco DX70 its effortless.

@@Natei not good, since changing my antenna from a imax 2000 to a sirio tornado, ive found its dropped my noise, but that might not work for everyone.

Sounds dead quiet 🙉... then gets loads of DX and 108 div.
Had radio on at home and it was quiet, being on some high ground can make huge difference away from the noise as well, LOL It did pick up though.
