UA-cam live chat is so toxic. I really appreciate DarkViperAu coming on and actually spending the time to talk about the (minor if that) drama. Thank you to the LTT team for making that happen.
It did feel like DVA was extra upset over everything, much more than he should have been. Very reactionary and it seemed like he also realizes this as he acknowledges the shortcoming of his response video.
It was really sad seeing how chat reacted to darkviper's presence during the stream. It was almost nothing but disrespect. It's good that they cleared things up but chat was just so negative towards him being there.
In my experience 99% of people who participate in live chat are just there to complain about something or actively try and make other people have a worse experience. It's so bad that I've gotten to the point where the first thing I do is just close the live chat sadly.
DarkViperAU is a very divisive commentator. He is very critical of large and popular creators, so people have thoughts on him, that's probably (imo) why he had a negative response from chat. Interesting clash of personalities. I am 50/50 on DarkVaiperAU. My take on him is that he takes a black and white stance on a much more nuanced topic, which is fine, because he shines a very bright light on a very important topic! My big criticism of him is the fact he reacts to content in the way he thinks reactions should be done. Short clip, response, short clip, response. My issue with this is that he then frames the topic the way he wants, and that may possibly remove much needed context from the topic he is reacting too. Why is that an issue? By his own logic, viewers do not go on and watch the original content. So he gets to shape his viewers framing of that content based on his opinion. That creates an echo chamber, which I think is counter productive to any reasonable debate.
@@YOYOTh1s his take has always been that when reaction content contains the entirety of the original that viewers don’t go watch it. That’s why he does clips. It’s not about controlling some narrative. It’s so that the viewer actually feels like they have a reason to go seek the original.
1:27:25 Linus: Dan don’t pick too many merch messages I want to get out of here at a reasonable time. Everyone else: looks at the time bar and see if we have another two hours of wan show left.
I sit in a train twice a week for 4 hours, WAN always entertains me the other way. It's great that it's taking away more and more of the time I have to spend on the trains.
Yeah I think edgecases like this are cool but common guest interaction (besides LMG members, obviously) probably shouldn't happen. I think no matter what, even if a guest was really good, the comraderie and flow that Luke and Linus have is kind of unbeatable. They can have different opinions completely from each other on a topic but will know exactly how to navigate that, but even with how good Matto is with his own collabs, it was still a little awkward at times because these people just don't know each other. IDK just my two cents. I think Luke and Linus are what makes WAN show special and adding guests to it on a common basis would ruin it somewhat
@@reptarien i think i partly agree. I'm still all for wan show being linus and luke and you're absolutely right They are the characters of the show 100% and it would loose some charm without them but i also think Having a guest on for a single topic isn't so bad especially how i saw it play out on this show i think it might spark some interesting conversation tangents. :D
27:03 i cracked here 😂 Linus mute his guest while writing an email to Nick Light "chief operation (of something)" asking if they could develop a stone that could protect someone for tigers (and sell it for 10k, maybe?) Then after an awkward reaction from Luke they just comeback as nothing happened 😂 Now that was wild
@@publicspeaker4009so Linus decided the best way to move on would be to cut their guest off mid sentence. Not even by verbally asking instead he just muted him?😂😂
Yeah honestly i was really confused too, like there was no real reason to be mad but i guess that's just what this community does at every tiny opportunity they can find
Luke a little tip with your sleeping situation, have you considered single mattresses per side? In your case cold foam mattress would be best and for your significant other probably something like a latex mattress. A mattress change would definitely be something I’d look into!
@@somedonkus69420 there was a comment denoting chats demeanor during the interview with darkviper. It was about the fact that the commenter was happy to see him on for the corrections and etc. Though they found it disheartening about chat's reaction during the whole thing and how toxic they were being. I wouldn't be surprised if it was just buried, not deleted and if it was, they probably have their reasons and one I can think of off hand. Is it wasn't really adding to the conversation and just feeds the trolls/give recognition to bad actors. Or maybe the chest demeanor wasn't actually that toxic and they just perceived it in a overtly negative way
I literally have a tab open that always has wan show playing. Its been awesome to see you guys take off and turn this channel into what its become. I cannot wait to see where you guys go!
Thank god you guys have humility and know how to deal with any issue and admit your faults straight up. It’s why I’ve watched you guys for so long. So awesome seeing Matt on the show! Awesome crossover!
@linus tech tip --- @45.04 what you are explaining is called '' Myclonus seizure muscle spazums '' related to epilepsy luke was correct -- 45.15 -- but not violent in any case ive ever know people can not control there arms even legs for brief periods ------ love your show guys you allways bring a smile to my face
I agree, I don't want to see a whole episode devoted to a guest, but maybe a 15-30 minute segment every week would be really cool. I'd love them to get Sam Altman from OpenAI on the show, or other UA-camrs like JerryRig Everything. Or give us cameos of other LTT talent wanting to talk about something cool they are working on.
Its funny as in the earlier days, they used to do exactly that - every few episodes, you'd get Kyle or Paul coming on, or he'd randomly just call another tech YT'er mid show.
Great Show yet again, Dan is such a gem! what an awesome addition to the WAN show & LTT in genral, his reactions are so candid & such a quick whip.... the topics have been so great this year... so far! It was nice having a fellow Aussie on the show to mix it up, tbh I'm surprised his internet was stable enough to get a decent segment out of coz internet be crappy on dis island :)
Loved all the lower mainland references in this show. The Richmond driver's rant sent me. so relatable lol. Also love these longer wan shows so much, it's become the video I look forward to watching every week whether its live or the vod sat morning. Keep it up!
@Saul Goodman yeah exactly. But when he realized he was wrong, he included an open conversation with the author of the video. So, instead of blindly apologizing to viewers and authors, he has done it hard way 🤔 He absolutely didn't have to. And i get him. Best way to see if 20+ minutes video is even worth watching, jump in comments 👌
There were some peaks and valleys to the tension in the later portion of DarkVipers time on WAN, but it ended on a somewhat positive and forgiving moment…and then Linus spent the rest of the first half of the show blowing off that energy 🏃😂
It was forgiving, because I think Linus could've easily done a more brutal take down of DarkViperAU's methodology. There was some valid criticism there that could've put him on the ropes, but I think Linus showed some tremendous restraint.
I am gonna do one of the things I hate and overread into a conversation. For someone that kept saying he wasnt mad, DarkViper had a lot of mad energy in his points. :/
For the very rare occasion I was live for this WAN Show because of Matto. This was a really interesting discussion. Since it was late where I'm from, I only watched Matto's part live. Now I'm catching up with the rest. Good stuff, guys!
Every time I see the green + gold water bottle, I think it's one of those motherboard caps that has always ruptured at the top. I'm going to officially request a "capacitor plague" edition of the LTT water bottle. Make that happen and it's an instant buy for me - guaranteed. And I don't even "do" water bottles usually.
This one was really good, alot of really good semi philosophical questions. You guys should explain what LTX is for new comers and where its gonna be located so ppl can work out their finances
Had Luke said "Don't be so self righteous Linus, you haven't watched the video yet" last week, that would've saved 30mins of this week's WAN show and all those apologies.
Linus knew exactly what he was doing both before when he "hadn't seen DarkVipers video" and also, during that WAN show. Which was great lol the last 3 have been absolute bangers. Linus knows his audience he knows how to increase engagement on WAN shows :)
I've been waiting ages for them to come out with ANY other options for mouse pad. Northern lights is great but it's not quite my vibe and I prefer having at least a couple options to choose from. Glad they went full stealth though since you really can't go wrong with all black
1:40:24 some early Playstation games like Tekken and Ridge Racer would play their bgm as tracks when put in a cd player. Also, you could play a fight or track with the other game's music if you swapped discs at the right point, but the game would freeze when it ended and needed to load something new like the menu
@@garydagg9112 yeah, “a product that we as the seller ‘believe’ to sell to our viewers and make them ‘believe’ when in reality from an outside perspective it’s a scam cause stones don’t protect people from tigers” was how I saw the rest of that being typed out.
I used to use the dislike counter to understand how much relevance I had to put in the comment section, but now it's more time consuming. As a fan of both Linus and Matthew I really enjoyed to see them on the WAN show clearly not agreeing on the Reactor concept, but still agreeing on the fact that there are many reasons for it to be mostly unethical in the current state and use of it (both on Twitch and UA-cam).
Yeah, the fact that he starts out complaining about how people who responded to his video didn't actually watch it, while later doubling down on the idea that he won't watch videos in the future, either, before forming on an opinion on them and talking about them, is god-tier lack of self-awareness. I understand that his point would be that, in the latter case, he'd respond to the comments, rather than to the video, but I peg the chances of that actually being true in real-life situations at pretty much 0%.
The point is. When you, as a viewer, write a comment, you are talking/responding to the creator. When Linus, as a creator, makes a video or a live stream, he is talking/responding to the audience. For anyone, you should listen to the person you are talking to before you make your point. So you, as a viewer should watch the video before making a comment. And he, as a creator is responsible for reading those comments to get an understanding of the audience opinion before talking to them. He is saying that he will reframe these sections for this exact reason. People are assuming when he talks about another video that he is talking to the creator (and therefore you are correct should have watched the video) but he isn’t. He is talking to you, the viewer, and therefore will read the comments.
@@elliotfenwick6871 Your logic is flawed. It does not matter the frame in which he is responding or to who he is responding. His is (purposefully, I might add) ignoring key information and thus does not and can not have a clear picture of what is going on. The correct way to look at this (and why those of us who are not part of his rabid fanbase are upset with him for doubling down) is that he should absolutely read to comments to gauge audience reaction AFTER FIRST WATCHING THE FUCKING VIDEO to understand the actual topic of discussion. That way when responding to the audience he has the full understanding of the situation and can sort out those that have legitimate complaints and those that just throw hate because they are horrible human beings. Imagine someone only responding to the audience feedback without being aware or knowledgeable of the situation in which the audience is reacting to. Imagine if that someone had clout or power to sway said audience. If that is too hard, just imagine a trump rally. Yeah, I went there. Let's try another example. Everyone loves Anthony, right? I love Anthony's vids. Well let's say Anthony puts up a vid about Linux and it's a killer vid. Great writing, awesome information, and he knocks it out of the park. But there is a huge number of linux haters that comment negatively on Anthony's vid based ONLY on the title and the thumbnail. A wild LinusLike comes along and addresses the audience without watching the video. Instead of telling the haters to suck on a nut, they end up apologizing for the video and possibly coming down on Anthony. He is acting off of incomplete information and thus his action/reaction is skewed. Regardless of where and for what they exist, echo chambers are bad and Linus should feel bad for gleefully participating in them through ignorance.
At some point you guys should talk about the Frore Systems airjet. It's an active cooling chip That seems pretty awesome, apparently it uses a vibrating membrane to accelerate air to 200 km across a cooling block. It would be really interesting to hear your guys's opinions on it on the next WAN maybe?
1:58:44 To be honest voice AI technology is already miles ahead of what we heard in the examples here. If I remember correctly, a couple months back a UA-cam channel called Jolly hired a professional voice AI company in Ukraine to make a audiobook using a AI generated version of one of the hosts voices made without his knowledge. It took them a couple months but the finished product was so good that even the host whose voice was being mimicked struggled to tell the difference.
The Microsoft neural voices are so damn good it’s crazy. I use them to read audiobooks with the app Speech Central, but Speechify uses them for a lot of their premium voices. Unfortunately speechify is a buggy mess and not worth it, but besides some odd pacing, the voices sound incredible.

One problem with Linus comment was that he said, he consumes YT through the comments and not watching the videos. It maybe works for him. But it is kind of a slap in the face to all the people who watch hour long videos from LTT every week, while they just could read the comments.
Regarding desk pads. I was super exited to see the stealth option. And I love all the sizes. What I am looking for is 280x340 so it will fit my Logitech power play. It is very hard to find a great mousepad that fits onto it.
As a creator, where else am I suppose to go? The types of videos on other platforms are very geared toward short form and their ad programs are kinda terrible. UA-cam is straight forward as a video platform. It has a lot of ad rev features and is still the best. But creators can’t ever rely on ad rev so it goes up, it goes down and I just don’t much care anymore. Ive build external businesses along side the channel so like you guys. Ad rev is a nice bonus but that’s all.
Netflix in Brazil costs 1/23 the minimum wage here. So, you could pay for Netflix or eat for a week cooking at home. (Counting 1/3 of the minimum wage salary for food, before discounts and taxes) And remember, Brazil is not the poorest country in Latin America. Not by a long shot.
i believe they actually rolled the password sharing ban into argentina and other latin american countries and they ended up reverting it. people will simply just pirate
Yea that’s the problem, the 2:14:15 amount and price of subscriptions has completely negated any benefit over ridiculous cable services. It’s insane- looks like we are going to be cancelling many services unless one of my other services includes them.
for Luc . there used to be CDs and DVDs that were in "mixed mode" that allowed for both Data and audio tracks. Of course the DVDs could only be played in a dvd home theater setup due to the laser not being the same.
Yeah, the problem was "I had someone watch it for me" and "I just read comments", and then justifying it as it being the same as watching the video. More so when you are actually 'reacting' to it. (Agreeing is also a reaction). But, FTLoG, watch the video!
Dude, bringing chat exactly when the guy was making a point is kind of the thing we are saying about it all. Take time to listen to what you are going to talk about.
Cable cards are still a thing in the US. You can use Tivos with them. For media center setups, there are tuners from Ceton for PCs long with boxes for Silicon Dust. Plex has a support page with tuner cards that are compatible with their service.

To "people are mad" - there's a decent portion that just silently watches, takes it in, without much of a reaction on their mind or commenting/liking/disliking. I just like to hear your guys' opinion on stuff (or learn of stuff going on) while tinkering with something else. Monetizing UA-cam shorts - "they don't care". The tone of the comment depends on the reader, my tone here would be: calm, optimistic, shrugging shoulders "maybe"... bla bla :) Could've seen the partial monetization (caveats) as a step... they're starting to fund one mechanism that has established a way to display ads in it (shorts feed), guess they haven't figured out the other ones where ads aren't prevalent, yet ("yet" being a point here). Not having announced somethings doesn't mean never going to happen - side note reminds me of people surprised there's going to be a sequel to a game that already has say a 5 at the end. Bit strong to burn it down: offering a share => demand more out of the gate. I'm unhappy how slow and stupidly large business often create software, but it would be disheartening to get such feedback in trying to come up with solutions too, since often the reasonable less powerful might see it instead of the numbers/abstract minded managers. Motivationally would say screw it, let's not then, only they on average benefit from incentivizing content creation. "Like", perhaps, the use of "obvious(ly)", though might not be obvious if something's done differently - resulting in the response, often have a third thought approach as well, not exactly agreeing. Generally enjoy the show and content, else wouldn't care to write or show up every now and then :) Genuinely hope you guys are doing well and though the passion is positive hope you get to rest too!
Thought about not posting, deleting, ... mehh let it be. Not a "strong opinion" but a passing thought, to which I'm generating counter arguments while writing it - why I often don't comment.
Netflix password sharing is not copyright infringement or stealing. I pay for 4 concurrent streams from Netflix. IT doesn't matter where in the world those stream are happening... They are PAID FOR. Therefore not stealing from anyone.
Linus not being sure about his own voice in AI generated stuff was actually amazing. I could tell each and every one at the first second just like Luke. I wonder if it's hard to do with your own voice or if Linus is yet again.. special. ;)
That whole clip was chilling. I'm not using headphones, but aside from the fact that Luke sounded more aggressive than he usually does, that's easily good enough to convince somebody that it was a real recording. We all knew this was coming, but to hear it accessible enough to be used as a casual demo is.... alarming.

It was really sad seeing how chat reacted to darkviper's presence during the stream. It was almost nothing but disrespect. It's good that they cleared things up but chat was just so negative towards him being there.
Typical chatters, hard to expect much from them 🤷🏽♂️
In my experience 99% of people who participate in live chat are just there to complain about something or actively try and make other people have a worse experience. It's so bad that I've gotten to the point where the first thing I do is just close the live chat sadly.
@@phoenux3986 that’s why I watch it on twitch. At least there’s a chance it won’t go that way there
DarkViperAU is a very divisive commentator.

Though they found it disheartening about chat's reaction during the whole thing and how toxic they were being. I really love how linus responds to situations where he knows he kinda screw up.

As a fan of both Linus and Matthew I really enjoyed to see them on the WAN show clearly not agreeing on the Reactor concept, but still agreeing on the fact that there are many reasons for it to be mostly unethical in the current state and use of it (both on Twitch and UA-cam).
Linus complaining the “community” reacting to his comments without watching the whole video is “God Level Irony”.

I love how Linus's and Matthews mics connect in the air
Dan concerned about Linus eating all his snacks was hilarious lol
I can relate with Luke about sweating while sleeping. I can't get a consistent night of sleep without waking up in a pool of sweat.
Get better sheets and sleep in underwear only. Most common sheets and blankets are incredibly unbreathable and can get way too hot.
Me too
It's a huge issue
for Luc . there used to be CDs and DVDs that were in "mixed mode" that allowed for both Data and audio tracks.
Piracy is coming back. Strong! That’s what they get with all the subscription BS!
I’m so confused at what happened at 27:00 was it a glitch or did something get edited out? 😊
Each to their own, but I can hear why people wouldn't necessarily want to listen to DarkViper 😬
Why? Was he lacking in the presenting aspect?
@Zytolen Just "one of those voices" I guess. Really grated on me almost immediately and far too quick at the same time 😅
@@RGBeanie He is awkward and nervous, that's all. I hear him most of the time, he comes out as genuine to me and mentally labored, but in this video I cringed throughout the video because of his restlessness espically with the contrast of Linus seemingly not giving a fuck whatsoever
Because of this video/stream, i have just bought the 1200x500 stealth deskpad... ENABLERS! lol looking forward to it arriving! And yes, i spent my whole morning watching/listening to the entire show. Holy balls.
The tone of the comment depends on the reader, my tone here would be: calm, optimistic, shrugging shoulders "maybe"... bla bla :)
Could've seen the partial monetization (caveats) as a step... they're starting to fund one mechanism that has established a way to display ads in it (shorts feed), guess they haven't figured out the other ones where ads aren't prevalent, yet ("yet" being a point here).
Generally enjoy the show and content, else wouldn't care to write or show up every now and then :)
Genuinely hope you guys are doing well and though the passion is positive hope you get to rest too!
Thought about not posting, deleting, ... mehh let it be. Not a "strong opinion" but a passing thought, to which I'm generating counter arguments while writing it - why I often don't comment.
I'm reacting to reaction content by watching previous reaction content that I never reacted too. Brilliant LTT... simply brilliant Wan Show.
The AI generated Dan gifs are 10/10. Keep up the good work.
Netflix password sharing is not copyright infringement or stealing. I pay for 4 concurrent streams from Netflix. IT doesn't matter where in the world those stream are happening... They are PAID FOR. Therefore not stealing from anyone.
Still doesn't think he did anything wrong
Linus not being sure about his own voice in AI generated stuff was actually amazing. I could tell each and every one at the first second just like Luke. I wonder if it's hard to do with your own voice or if Linus is yet again.. special. ;)
That whole clip was chilling. I'm not using headphones, but aside from the fact that Luke sounded more aggressive than he usually does, that's easily good enough to convince somebody that it was a real recording. We all knew this was coming, but to hear it accessible enough to be used as a casual demo is.... alarming.
i love how eeeeveery "controvertion with youtuber" on linus is resolved by;
"sorry dude, let's talk"
"it's cool, that was take waay out of context"
so civil 😂
I am starting to anticipate wan show like my favorite anime every week
