Who Am I?
One single batchelor from the UK talking about his passion for board games and the people who play them! I support small content creators, board game cafes and go against the status quo when it comes to the board game industry. I give my honest opinions without bias towards any publishers or designers and will not hold back if I don't like a game.
The Broken Meeple is a variety channel that hosts all kinds of board game content from reviews to Top 10 lists to playthroughs to live stream collaborations with special guests (predominantly small channels who deserve more exposure).

I really appreciate that you cover the solo modes too. Thanks for the review. Hope my copy shows up soon!
Always got to talk about solo modes!
It brings me satisfaction seeing you enjoy a game . You sold me on this one Luke. If I see it at my local game store, I'm gonna get it!
Ha ha I do enjoy games! ;-) Just not every single game like many creators! :D
original Isle of Trains used the exact same style of cards for maps and train components. the passengers are new in the new edition
Glad to see this one get such a good review from you, Luke! Hopefully my Kickstarter copy will arrive soon.
Hope you enjoy it!
Picked this up at the UKGE, I went full pimp with the metal coins and sweet play mat.
If I could fit it in the box I'd grab that mat too
I'm picking this up at Essen Spiel this year.
Thank you so much for this lovely review and always covering the solo mode ❤
Thank you!!
Like another commenter I am so excited to get this one! I love train games and this looks awesome. Especially appreciate you sharing your opinion of the solo mode - likely to be the way I play for the majority of time. Thanks Luke!
Not a problem, many reviewers won't touch the solo mode, but I certainly will!
My copy arrived today. Even more excited to dive in after watching your video! Probably going to play it solo first.
Hope you enjoy it!
I backed this on KS after you mentioned it in a FOMO video and it should be arriving very soon! I look forward to playing it even more after this raving review 😄
Hope you enjoy it!
Backed this at Conductor level & it has to be one of my favourite crowd funded game to date.
I only play solo & this ticks all the boxes for me. Challenging without excessively brutal brain burn, quick to setup / tear down vs play satisfaction, everything (bar playmat) fits in the box with sleeved cards, looks great on table, theme is enough but not overwhelming (I'm not a steam train fan) & worth the money paid. I got the deluxe edition +sleeves +playmat.
Well done Dranda Games, I certainly lookout for their future campaigns
Shame the mat isn't going to fit in the box really.
At first I skipped this game for some reason, thought it is a card filler with nothin to it. But seeing your review quickly changed my mind and good for me bacuse I managed to get on a last wagon of a preorder train (we have this game coming with Ukrainian localization in a month or so) Thank you for recommending
Great review. Looking forward to bringing this one over to our local gaming cafe today with the wife and giving it a try this afternoon!
How did it go!?
Backed this and it's a real fantastic multi use card card game....
Guilds of London another game where the cards did everything...
Great vid Luke....spot on...
Great review!
Glad you enjoyed it Luke! Thanks for the great review 🚂
If you like games with 'the cards are everything' I would also recommend playing Oh My Goods if you haven't already 😊
Yes that one I need to play the second edition of, the first edition I had issues with but I still give it props in general.
I'm really excited to get my copy (I'm in the US), especially have your 9/10 score. Multi-purpose cards are a mechanic I really like, and the decisions about putting a card in an opponent's cars for the extra benefits (and saving other actions) is great. All packaged in such a small box is a huge plus as well.
I think it will be a solid hit for you.
What!? Luke likes a train game? Lol. I saw this a few and knew nothing about it. Thanks for reviewing this. I like how it plays. I'm putting this on BBG wish list. Now this one and Alice's Garden I'm keeping my open for. Keep up the great work.
Thanks for the visit!
Ordered the deluxe edition from Dranda Games, expecting it tomorrow. Very helpful review as always. Love the artwork on this. Has a Ticket to Ride vibe about it, which is excellent.
Hope you enjoy it!
Excellent stuff as always Luke. Glad you liked this as it's one myself and my family enjoy. I'm probably in the minority but I like the tokens and their artwork better than the garish large coloured meeples that I don't think add anything to the game.
Fair enough! I think there's merit for liking either or.
Do the deluxe tokens fit into the box? Also can you sleeve the cards into that box?
Sleeved yes, deluxe passengers and VP markers yes. Playmat, no.
I'm starting to respect your seal of Distinction, they have not failed me yet. Adding this one to the queue. Is there a list of all your games with seals that I can reference Luke? Thanks!
Sadly not, never thought to do a list of them.
@@TheBrokenMeeple well, I got it this week, played it twice and I have to say, it met my expectations and more. Great solo too. Seal of Distinction strikes again!
Did you get the play mat? If so is it worth it having?
I do not have it - it looks great on the table, but you will lose the portability of the game having it.
@@TheBrokenMeeple thanks
I think you have the wrong chapter marks for this video (unless it's UA-cam messing me around)
No it's because I forgot to update them - one sec! :D
Luke typically hates trains….and it started off positive…the whole time watching, I thought this review was going to go “off the tracks”. I think this game has all the makings of a great train game…..it is at-track-tive….and has engine-uity. I’m here all week. Don’t forgot to tip your waitress.
Can I get the waitresses number?
Im thinking of buying a small box of card game that is not trick-taking. So I'm thinking of forts until I watch this review.
So if you have played forts, can you recommend which one is more fun? Forts or this game.
Thanks.
Do you mean Fort as in the deck builder? Out of the two I find Fort more fun overall, get the mini expansion as well.
@@TheBrokenMeeple ah yes, forts the Deck-Building Game. Ok, will pick up forts with the cat dog exp. Thanks again 👍
Hmm.
Wow, can't even do a positive review without a disliker! Shame on you whoever you are! ;-)
