Dear CSULB Music, This is Yutaka himself. I just found your post. Thank you for posting this. What a wonderful performance. I don't know if you know this but the Long Beach State is my alma mater. I was in Frank Pooler's University choir for years in the early 70's. That's why the fact that this is coming from you means so much to me. Thank you Sherrine Mostin for a great job. I know this song is not an easy song for a vocal group to do. I also know Jennifer Barnes who unfortunately moved out of California a few years ago. One of the best singers I've ever worked with and an arranger. Thank you again from the bottom of my heart. Kudos to all the singers and musicians.
Oh my goodness! What an honor for you to reach out to us! I am the Director of Vocal Jazz at Cal State Long Beach. I had no idea that CSULB is your alma mater!! Thank you so much for your beautiful music. I would love to get in touch with you. Do you still live in Southern California? You can reach me through the CSULB Bob Cole Conservatory of Music website. Please feel free to email or call any time. With warm regards and deepest gratitude, Christine
Dear Mr. Carlos "Yutaka" Del Rosario, I am big fan of yours. I am a smooth jazz musician and I really would like to communicate with you. I would very much like to collaborate with you on a project on which I am working. I could learn a lot from your expertise and I would be very grateful. Would you please respond back to me? I can be found at kenneypolson@hotmail.com
Mr. Yutaka: I first heard Brazasia way back in 1990. A jazz radio station played it and I was captivated by the mix of American jazz, the beat of Brazil and the harmonies of Japan. It takes a genius to write a song like this. The piano and koto mix so well. Pauline Wilson (a Filipino like me) was great too. To this day, I play it almost daily in my car. Thank you for this wonderful, wonderful jazz song. Greetings from Manila, Philippines. Mabuhay!
I was going to throw myself off a cliff during Lockdown then found Yutaka-he saved my life. Dont know how I missed him during time at GRP RECORDS. I was buying a lot from Grp at the time. Your 3 CDs sit in my collection now.. would love some new material.. this is a great version.
I felt in love with this song since I heard it the first time. Still am. The rhythm, style, beat, Pauline Wilson and Yutaka's voices, amazing. Arrangement, instrumentation and excellent sonority. Kudos for this production! In regards of your homage to the song, it makes me happy and delighted. Congratulations to all! 😂❤ Blessings 😊
CSULB Music: Great rendition of a great song by Yutaka Yokokura! I have known of this song from the original Yutaka Brazasia CD. Also from Carol Welsman CDs (Hold Me, and CAROL WELSMAN), as she has recorded two different versions of this song that I know of, as well as, MOON (haewon)'s version on her Kiss Me CD. I enjoyed how you divided the vocals between male and female vocalists, the piano and guitar solos were spot-on!, and the overall live performance. Perfect! "Tuning in" to Yutaka's three major GRP CDs, (Yutaka, Another Sun, and Brazasia), came after my first exposure to his talents with other GRP artists, such as, Kevyn Lettau, Ivan Lins, etc., and prior to that on the fabulous Velas CD, that I purchased for only $6.00 and featured such artists as Jose Marino, John Pisano, Yutaka Yokokura, Luis Conte. Kevyn Lettau, Claudio Slon, Kenia, Laudir de Oliveira, Dori Caymmi, Gary Meek, Michael Shapiro, Justo Almario, Oscar Castro-Neves, Everaldo Ferreira, and many more. This one CD set me on a path to discover more, particularly by Yutaka, Kevyn Lettau, Dori Caymmi, Kenia, and others. And to think that to buy this CD on Amazon today would only cost now (new) at $43.11, and used at $4.98. I still got a good deal at $6.00 at J&R Jazz Music Annex, which is no longer in existence in NYC. Thank you, once again, for sharing this video on UA-cam. Sincerely, Mark Prigoff, Digital Jazz Productions ...
I can’t believe someone decided to honor Yutaka. He did too few albums. Nevertheless, they were sonic , song writing and melodic masterpieces. They’re as exciting today as they were in 1990. This song is such a beautiful example of what he gave us. I get teary every time the solo comes in after the crescendo. It’s absolutely timeless and incredible. Thank you for keeping his music alive.
UNBELIEVABLE, WOW they sound amazing. Never knew about this group at all. Thank GOD for youtube. GREAT JOB folks. The Pianist almost has every bit of the piano solo down packed. WOW, great song Great rendition and Great Feel.
Brazasia IS my ultimate, favorite song. Love your vocal arrangements, and this tone, it just lifts everything up in the sky! I'd buy your CD's, MP3's... AS it reminds me of my university years at the music department. Love your stuff. BRAVO!
Absolutely amazing!! I have loved this song for more than 20 years and to hear it performed so beautifully by this wonderful ensemble is a total joy. Special congrats you all the singers and instrumentalists and esp. Jennifer Barnes and Sherrine Mostin!
What a beautiful rendition of Brazasia! Does someone knows anything about Yutaka? I'm a big fan of his music but he is nowhere to be found. Did he passed away? Thanks!
Excellent!!.... but could use more percussion - cowbells, congas, bongos, drums. Nonetheless good vocal rendition. Any more songs ? How about Michael franks songs ? Great!!!

Amazing music but, what's the meaning of Brazasia? Brazil + Asia?
Where can I find the sheetmusic for this song? I cannot locate it anywhere. Does anyone care to score it for me on staff paper?
Is that Ren Geisick in the lineup?
bbbuuuuu!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What a beautiful rendition of Brazasia! Does someone knows anything about Yutaka? I'm a big fan of his music but he is nowhere to be found. Did he passed away? Thanks!

Generic Brazilian bossa nova! congratulations beautiful
Superb. The female singers are a little sharp for my taste.
There's only one female voice that sounds eerie to me on this song. Very high pitched. Otherwise, they are very good indeed!
the 2 people that didn't like this should have their ears checked .
Ivan Santiago - maybe the like death metal or gangster rap😁
