It’s so sad that sometimes parents think that they “take care” of their children as long as they provide them their basic necessities such as food and shelter. They often forget that what matters most for their children is their time, love, & affection.

Whoah, that wasn't on Netflix. Jae su made it funny. The same thing that I got from the story, parent's thought that you only need to provide the necessity of the child on this case satiating hunger, what the mother failed to identify is what the boy really wants is her warmth, her care and understanding. She was so quick to judge that the child is monster and locked him away like that. The first story about the child with nightmares is also good too. Can't wait for the other stories.

It feels like she’s leaving pieces of herself in her books and the only way to appreciate what you’re reading is if you yourself can empathise with the story. I think that’s how kang tae is able to connect the dots..

I have an 3 years older sister, when I was 10 she got mentally ill. She was abused when we were younger.
It started slowly but at the age of 16 she couldn't take it anymore. Back then she needed to be hospitalized alot and had lots of suicide attempts, my parents tried their best to keep her stable. My child hood ended when i was 12, i couldn't make them suffer even more so i didn't ask for help, i took responsibility for myself and never showed my weakness. I built up a wall at the age of 14. My sister got better and my parents begann to realize that i was way too emotionless for a 14 year old teenager. It's been 3 years now and my sister is clean form suicide since 2 years and clean from self harm for 1 year.
My parents watch lots of kdrama with me it's kinda a family thing while watching this drama my mom broke down so many times and apologized so much because she saw me in that little boy. They never meant to leave me behind and i know that.
Why i posted that under this video where lots of strangers can read it, i don't even know myself, maybe too tell you that your not alone. Or i am just bored

Whether the mother knew it or not, the mother actually did more harm to the child through her act of love. She isolated the child from the rest of the world, so that he couldn't adapt to society. She even started to feed the child her own human flesh before leaving the child alone.
Now think about what the child would do now that the mother is gone. He'll either die alone from grief of his mother or become a monster that his mother turned him into. Such a twisted psychological story.... *shivers*

[Spoiler Alert] I think this is connected to Ko Moon Young's past. In episode 3 you can see in the flashback that her mother said to her that she's her creation, another her, so basically her mother left her all alone after "creating" who she is now, I think there's are lot of hidden motives behind Ko Moon Young's personality and behaviours (i love her btw) but she's a person that's hurt, there's also her father another person who did her wrong. This drama is so deep, can't wait for next episodes!

I cried at the end of zombie kid tale. She loved her child so much she literally sacrificed herself for him by giving her life for his except what he really craved, her love,a mother's caress and hug, and time. And Moon Kang-tae caring for his older, autistic brother Moon Sang-tae and Kang-tae's memories of his mom ,him, and Sang-tae broke my heart. I'm a single mom of a severely autistic son who's a tall teenager. And I was that child who had to care for my younger brother (I was older and he wasn't autistic but my mom was single and I being 4 years older than him was a latch key kid). This series is triggering a lot of past memories and feelings.

The Zombie story has so many lessons. Breaks my heart (as a mom myself). How a true mom truly loves her kid and would sacrifice anything. To understand your child. To give all that you can. But sometimes a child may be someone else. Here, the child wants to be with his mom and hold her. Didnt she hold the child earlier? So sad! And MGT did a damn good job relating to the story and understanding what KMY wanted to say in the story : a child has feelings and shouldnt be taken for granted

    • @user-ni2lr3xo3z
      @user-ni2lr3xo3z 4 роки тому +47

Suhana M as a mother what I got from this story is that often we as parents forget that our children are people of their own design, and the mother in this story looked at her child and saw a monster and treated it as such, while not looking to the child’s differences and how she should love the child and comfort the child in a way different from what she’s used to. Why she tried to raise up the child, by feeding it, keeping it safe,(ect) because she didn’t give the child what it actually wanted/needed no relationship was formed.
Children need and just want to be loved but every child is different how you show love and receive it may be different then how your child shows/ receives love. The expectations we have of our parenting skills and our children all have to be altered with the child at hand. My two daughters are extremely different in their desires for affection and I had to shift my parenting and ways of doing things for each child based on their needs and desires. One is extremely physically affectionate, while the other isn’t too keen on physical affection but she wants to be where she can see me at all times. I guess that’s what I got out of the story

Based on the first trailers, other people might think the drama is scary with a raw sense of comedy but if you've seen the depth of how psychological boggling it is (because it happens irl) it's really a sad drama.. specially with the ‘children storybook’ the meaning behind it and how sad the characters were written.. ☹️☹️☹️

This story shows how alike Moon Kang Tae and Ko Moon Young are. They received parents love in the way they didn't understand because they wanted it differently, they expected to be treated differently.
It touched my heart when MY said that she is a child and KT is a child too. Yes it is. KT didn't have a chance to be a normal child. His brother is different, he is and will always be child. So KT is always the grown up one, responsible one. That's why MY said something about him want to play, that's why KT looked pleased when Adam (I don't remember the patient's name but MY called him Adam 😅) showed off his weird acts or when Adam happily danced around after exposing his dad' true self. KT has chained himself in the model of being a grown up for years and he is tired, he has this desire to be released and MY saw that. Because she does it to herself right now. She's released, to the point that I have feeling that she's more like giving in. The act of her on the outside is totally ASPD but she's screaming for help on the inside, seeking for understanding and empathy through her stories

As a psychology student I'm surprise and amaze by the way the traumas are portrayed. Also when KangTae was reading the book I started crying like a baby, because I'm so connected to the story of both of them being hurt and how they try to face in a different way each other's traumas.
And the story "Zombie boy" shows how exactly parents, sometimes, see their kids as mere mechanical humans with material needs and that they can be happy if the kids have all they needs, they forget that as daughter or sons we just need a hug and a "I'm here for you".

I didn't quite catch this on my first watch of the episode, but at 0:18 we can clearly see the mother's silhouette mimicking a tree, like how Moonyeong's mother is represented on the opening sequence from episode 1. Not sure if this theory will hold water, but I think Zombie Boy is a retelling of the relationship Moonyeong had with her mother; that maybe, her mother died trying to save her from something. Clearly, with the little snippets we've seen of her, Moonyeong's mother seemed like an imposing character that has shaped Moonyeong's view of the world. Building her egotistical traits from an early age (calling her her "perfect creation"). Isolating her. And hence, impairing her ability to form meaningful connections when she was young.
Another longshot theory is that Moonyeong's mom possibly suffered from post-partum depression, which drove her mad. Moonyeong's dad seemed so in love with her mother, enough to build her the "cursed castle" just so his wife could write in peace. He may be so resentful towards his daughter, thinking he lost his wife to post-partum because of Moonyeong. If Moonyeong involuntarily caused her mother's death, although twisted, this could explain why her father (who already seemed mad & embittered) despises Moonyeong enough to want to kill her.
God, I am so excited about the development of this story. Four episodes in and the show's already teaching us so much. I hope it continues to tackle mental illnesses with absolute care and respect.

This is how I interrupt ‘Zombie Kid.’
The mom loved her son so much that she feared him being made fun of. She hid him in the basement for his own safety, but for him he didn’t get the love he desired. When the epidemic arrived, she gave her everything for him. The boy finally got the warm embrace he wanted, though it was too late. No matter how many times the mom hid him in the dark, she loved him. Yet, it pushed the boy away, he never thought that his mom cared to look his way. All he wanted was a warm embrace from her. In the end, I think he realized how much the mom sacrificed for him. The drama truly is a masterpiece.

But it reminds me of how many parents are so busy with providing physical necessities that they forget the need for warmth and love. Kids with working parents will relate to this book.

When Gong tae was reading this I can't help but cry realizing how great the meaning of the scene is, I mean this zombie kid story part can completely become a whole film! The writer of this drama really deserved a huge credit! plus the cinematography! All hail to the editors!

The word 'warmth' can be interpreted as love...
