In relation to Camera Angles, I feel sports in general have Camera Angles in the wrong place. They have it positioned to where the "King and Queen" must have sat. It's hard on the eyes seeing it at the angle it is during sports now. But this angle really is easy on the eyes. Something aerial that shows everything. Instead moving the camera around so much and showing people's facial expressions. Athletes even then seemed so much more chill, why? Probably because seldom did they have a camera shoved in their face to see how they would react to anything really. It's all the evolution of "Sports Entertainment". Hopefully the camera angle changes or the future of tech gives us an option to choose our angles of any sporting event. Just like SAP for language lol. Camera angles are reallllllly important long story short. Lol
Great angle - an angle I've never seen before. Borg was 16 or 17 here, and Stan Smith was a top 5 player. I guess Smith won, but Borg won all the points in the highlights!
It appears to be a close match even though straight sets. Lots of great points. Borg was just breaking into the big league, but shows how great his passing shots are off of both sides. Smith was a seasoned veteran.
Very clear watchable footage from the standard def age! Most of the uploads from that era are very fuzzy/blurry making it very difficult to make out the ball.
I think this was Borg's first ATP level final. (Borg was 17 at the time.) He lost but showed promise and made some great shots. Smith was ranked in the top 5 at the time.
you must read the article in the NY times, the change of the grip, the revolution in tennis. Borg " invented " this tennis and changed the game for the worse. Nadal is the same and most players are. Thank God every now and then we get a Mc Enroe or a Federer and we can see some class.
Ahead of its time?? How about acknowledging that Borg was the actual inventor of this playing style? So it must be , Nadal (and others) came late, about 30 years.....
Maybe she needed that fish net because of her long legs? By the way, it's funny to see her hide behind that 'dasher board' during the rallies. I've never seen anything like that before!
Great footage of Stan Smith. Wow! It's remarkable to see Borg at such a young age. Thanks for sharing.
That elderly gentleman congratulating Borg is King Gustav VI of Sweden. He would pass away in September of that year.
this is the best view of a tennis match I have seen. You can really see how they play the points
I agree!

Borg had great passing shots even then. The lob he ran down is an ideal testament to his legendary speed.

So marvelous!!

Thanks, very good quality video
This is a a great camera angle. Should be used today. Excellent footage.
Pourquoi les caméras n'utilisent plus le même angle de nos jours?
C'est tellement plus agréable à regarder.
Bravo. Vidéo rare..... j’avais jamais vu jouer Stan.....smith... surtout contre borg... merci.
Awesome footage! Classic tennis we could learn from. I was using wooden Jack Kramer Autograph racket back then. LOL
I actually like that camera angle. I assume the sound was added in the post production phase, at least some of it. Interesting footage.

Both of these men defeated Nastase in a Wimbledon final.
and they both lost to Nastase in the year end Masters final
NASTASEis#1! True. Smith twice.
Nastase was the first of the a..holes...couldn't stand that brat
Wow, top Quality!
Although Borg retired at 26, he did have about 10 years as a pro.
Beautiful Bjorn Borg and lovely Stan Smith 💗
Images exceptionnelles !!
this sf was played july 14th 1973.
this is very rare.i never knew that Stan Smith ever played this tournament.
1:09 One hander from Borg

Sverige Sverige!
Smith won 6-4 6-4 6-2. Great player; probably would have won Wimbledon that year if not for the players' strike.
No idea Borg was around that early to have played agaisnt Stan.
It appears Borg wore him out !!!
vackert
Nadal style running forehand Over the Head finish at 2:16 thirty years ahead of its time

Ripping topspin forehands with that tiny wooden racquet, thought they were all flat hitters then.
Nah Laver & Vilas also hit plenty of topspin (then again both had massive popeye arm)
Why does the ballgirl have a squash racquet?
They used fish nets
Maybe she needed that fish net because of her long legs?
By the way, it's funny to see her hide behind that 'dasher board' during the rallies. I've never seen anything like that before!
It seems that Borg lost...is it?
Yes. He was 17 years old at the time.

Stan Smith... is NOT a Bastad...❗😉

Smith played much better. Tennis changed for the worse
Much better than who? To me it looks like he plays slow, without angles and real speed or power...... a bit boring.
