Hi! Yes, what I like to do is listen to the song once, and then the second time around I write notes out such as "double kick part on hi-hats / fill at the end / electronic beat just kick, snare and claps, etc." and I just write out things that will help me remember the parts of the song. Then I just listen to what I hear and sometimes play each part over and over until I get it down. Writing it out will show the patterns within the song and you'll see that certain sections repeat a few times. Once I wrote my notes, I usually just jam out to the song a bunch of times in a row until it sticks. For this band, I didn't have to be exact, and I could interpret my own fills when necessary, so that is something you can do too! If something is too hard, just keep the timing down but simplify as needed. I hope that helps!
