    Is it weird that I found the engineering part of the house more impressive than the house itself. Some of the most unappreciated parts of homes is the artistry in keeping it functional.

    • @annamarie9858
      @annamarie9858 Рік тому +27

      Agreed. The great entrance and central part were absolutely amazing too…but everything else, like the small closets and the flow of the kitchen, were meh 🫤. Hey, it might be just a woman point of view! The view out the windows definitely added value, but not astounding enough for $26mil.

In my opinion this home should sell for at least 55+ million dollars and I would bet I would have a bidding war at that price. Fifty years ago our family had two in our old cottage in Holland and a few years ago I got one built for my own cabin. It is so named because it allows the fresh air in, but keeps the chickens out. :) And typically the whole door can be open, or only the top half, or the top just a little bit.

The attention to detail, through out, is the one thing that stood out in my eyes, a level of craftmanship that is not found easily... Thank You for the first hand tour... Yes failure is exactly what I was thinking myself. Never been to nothing better than a holiday Inn. But that is what my tast would be if I accidentally became rich. I'm just afraid I would get lost and no one would hear me scream for help. That place is huge. I suppose I'd just have to call 911 every day and tell them I'm lost again and pay them to come and rescue me from myself in my own home. Ohhh the pain of being rich.

    Impressive videography, Dave. Those are called Dutch doors, they are not used much in contemporary construction. There are so many little details throughout the entire property that are very impressive. A friend of mine built his own log house from the trees he harvested on the property and this house was built the same way. A new log is set on top of the existing log in place, the new log is scribed along the length of the log, removed and a cut out is made to match the shape and contour of the log it will be joined to. Actually, as your tour continued they construction was changed with logs set on others without any cut out on the underside of the logs Excellent construction either way. And there are excellent cinder screens on all the chimneys so nothing can escape and start a wildfire. A huge, twenty-six million dollar WOW!

    As a former tradesman that did many many 7-15k sqft custom homes in Austin and surrounding areas in the hill country, this was definitely all a time and material kinda job. These types of jobs last years. You’ll do something a certain way per “plan” and it gets changed multiple times. Pretty awesome to see your work come to life when it’s done though.

    This place is absolutely incredible... I have a friend up in northern British Columbia that has a mini version of this place with the peace River running through his property with a giant log cabin. This place has everything. The only thing I was surprised it didn't have was its own nine hole golf course. With such majestic views and open pasture areas and wooded areas combined. It wouldn't have been that hard. Oh well if the new owners can spring $30 million for a home another couple of million to put in nine holes would be cheap and a good investment as it would take it to that Camp David or MaraLago type of home. Unbelievable...
