As random you shouldn’t have to tell them because that’s the advantage of picking random. The negative is you might get your weak race or a weak matchup and that you would need to learn how to play 9 different matchups vs just 3. If you give up that advantage then you are left with only a disadvantage. If people really think it’s such an advantage they can pick random but they don’t because they don’t want the disadvantages.
I play random on the ladder all the time! I get similar results with all three races. And by "similar results", I mean I pretty much lose all the time. I'm terrible no matter what race I'm playing, so might as well have fun!

That's why I like the way age of empires tournaments run. I know the game is balanced completely different, but usually they play multiple civs "races" in a best of 3 or whatever
Lowko I play random. I love when I spawn Terran vs Toss. If they wall on low ground you can make marine tank and siege their wall and they usually get stuck behind it and u can kill gateway and cyber pretty easily.
You should not have to tell the race as random however if you want to improve your skill level for laddering then it might help. I subscribe because it gives me something to watch on the bus every day.
I played a great battlemech + mines last night. Had a rage quit zerg leave when too many mutas go boom boom with my expert mines hahaha. Battle mech is so fun. A click right click back repeat.
This video was awesome! I thought it was going to be more of a match, but I guess heromarine wasn't feeling so hot. But a great cast and a great series!
I agree with Lowko that a player choosing random SHOULD NOT have to tell what he spawned as. Random offer both PRO and CON with the fact that you do not know what you spawn as. PRO the opponent must scout and cannot hard counter. CON you need to work and practice different race each with different tactics so the learning curve is higher.

Telling your enemy what race you got afte going random is lame. The player who goes random is taking the risk of playing a race or races they are not as good in. The enemy does lose that instant information, but they get what should be a instant advantage of playing a race they feel most comfortable about.
If you're playing random, CLEARLY the right call is to LIE in chat about what you got... at least a third of the time. They'll catch on but it'll still distract.

That's the entire point; the opponent doesn't know what race you are or what your build is going to be early on unless they scout you. StarCraft is a game of imperfect information; don't give your opponent information for free...

The idea that one should tell the other player which race you spawned as when you play random is the very definition of entitlement.
It's like humans expecting ETs to tell us their intentions honestly. The ultimate power move is to say another race than with which you spawned as.
