This hospital scares the living crap out of me. Not only did they screw up a surgery on my hand by performing a trigger finger release (I've never had trigger finger issues) instead of removing a major wart, (the surgery was to remove two large cysts in my left wrist and removing the wart) and they put a cast on my arm that was too small and made my fingers turn purple. They sent me home from that procedure refusing to tell me what the doctor had done that had left me with stitches on my hand instead of on my finger like there should have been. The pain was immense. When I returned 6 hours later because I couldn't feel my fingers anymore (the ones that were now purple because of the messed up cast) they STILL couldn't tell me what had been done because the doctor hadn't finished his notes before going home. A number of years later I had a back injury and had the misfortune of being taken back to Scarborough General. I was screaming in agony because I had two herniated discs and my left Sciatic nerve was caught between them and being ground to shreds. They did an MRI which THEY READ WRONG and they sent me home with an appointment 3 weeks away with a back specialist. After only 5 days I ended up having to call an ambulance to take me back to the hospital because I was paralyzed from the waist down. In order to get me out of my house the paramedics had to strap me onto a stretcher on my back and carry me vertically down 4 sets of steep stairs. They jostled something and the pain came back in full force. I screamed the whole way down and all the way to the hospital. I asked to be taken to Centenary but since Scarb Gen had 'treated' me previously Centenary sent me back there. Shortly after I arrived a nurse tried to catheterize me with a latex catheter despite me having "Severe Latex Allergy!!!" noted on all my paperwork and on the wrist band I was wearing. The doctor on call had a second look at my MRI and noticed the two herniated discs and severely damaged Sciatic nerve. He scheduled me for immediate surgery. Unfortunately the damage was already done. My left leg is mostly paralyzed, I have chronic nerve pain, constant back pain, constant nausea from the pain, fibromyalgia, and half a dozen different issues that all link back to the botched spinal diagnosis. PTSD and claustrophobia being just two of them. I've had severe Endomitriosis since I was 14, Malaria at 19, and at 27 had a baby with no drugs. I know what severe pain is and I've coped with it. The pain from my back and Sciatic nerve are by far the worst pain I've ever felt. I'd rather give birth a dozen times than to go through the whole mess with my back again.
I would not recommend this hospital to my worst enemy.

Look at the many hospitals Toronto has to offer. Scarborough's population is higher and the taxpayer is not getting their money's worth. Protest, sit-ins might work? However I always had good service there despite the small space.
