Maliek! It has been more than a year that I haven't seen your videos, so good to see you. I left PowerDirector 18 and switch to Adobe AfterEffects and PremierePro. Adobe universe in awesome, template availability is limitless. I am a happier man, there are no limits with Adobe, the best decision ever. There is a catch, the learning curve from PowerDirector to Adobe is not easy, you should create a couple of videos about it, you should even consider partnering with Adobe to facilitate the migration, I can assure you 99.9% of people will be happier.
Nah, I have Adobe products. I use them when I need them. I'll stick with PowerDirector. There are plenty of people online who can provide Adobe tutorials.

I just started editing videos to put on my UA-cam channel for my business and I am learning simply by watching your tutorials and they have Ben a huge help for what I have learned so far so thank you. Power director 14 was already on my pc and I would like to upgrade to newest version but I am confused on the difference of 19 and 365, which do I want and how is best way to get it. Thanks
PD 365 is the annual subscription of the current version of PowerDirector. The current version of PowerDirector is PowerDirector 19. Later this year PowerDirector 20 will be released. Once it does everyone who has the PD 365 subscription will get upgraded to PowerDirector 20 because it will be the current version of PowerDirector. If you buy PowerDirector 19 then you will have a stand a lone license. You will not have a subscription and you will not receive the upgrade to PowerDirector 20.
I'm still on PD15 as it's all I was able to get at the time. Is it still possible to do this in 15? Always loved the funny stuff. I also REALLY appreciate that you explain every click in these short, sweet and to the point videos! It really does hope out the newer editors.
Thanks, Maliek. Very cool and exceptionally well presented. I'm curious to know what the "multiply" blending mode does to cause this effect. Thanks again!
You’re welcome. The Multiply blending mode multiplies the luminosity of the base color by the blend color. The resulting color is always a darker color. White produces no change, while the black pixels remain. Multiply can produce many different levels of darkening depending on the luminosity values of the blend layer, which make it a great Blending Mode for darkening images or creating shadows.

Help! I followed everything in your tutorial and I didn't get the same result as yours. My text is in front and not in the back of the moving object. What did I do wrong? Thank you for answering.
Did you use a high contrast video clip with black colored foreground items? That was one of my first instructions mentioned @ 0:26 If you did and you followed all the steps then it works.
@@top40researcher31 Thing is, you need to have a use for such an effect in order to justify the experiment to see if it can work in PD17. Maliek did this in PD19's expanded 365 version.
Blending modes came out with version 15 ua-cam.com/video/qm1ovg36cLQ/v-deo.html so as long as your version (Ultra,Ultimate, Essentials, etc.) has blending modes you can do it. Shoot your footage at dusk and you should be able to create a high contrast video where the train is dark/black with the sunset behind it. Then you could do the effect with one of your videos if you would like to try it.
No matter what I do... the text is in front of the video. I have tried with a colour board, without, multiply and overlay... no success. And the letters become clear... I want white.
I still don't get how the text end up behind the people and not in front of them. And why do you need to have the white background behind the red letters? I am so confused when it comes to blending modes, I guees that is why I don't get this video! Great video though, I just don't understand it! 😅
I know that gases and particles in Earth's atmosphere scatter sunlight in all directions to make the sky blue. I don't understand it but the sky is still blue. I also know that the multiply blending mode multiplies the luminosity of the base color by the blend color. The result is the removal of white pixels, while the black pixels remain. I don't understand it but the multiply blend mode still does what it does.
@@PDU_Tutorials hehe, I am actually working on a video explaining why the sky is blue. The short answer is rayleigh scattering, which is the atmospheres ability to scatter blue lights better than other wavelengths. It has to do with the size and structure of the atmospheres particles. 😃 I need to read up some more when it comes to blending modes. 😃
@@PDU_Tutorials Hello, I want to create the design of a title text appearing behind the video just like you presented in your tutorial. Unfortunately I can't do it that way. Would it be possible for you to send me and/or the community the *.PDS used and the video as a ZIP file? Many Thanks
@@DJSkiddMarks It won't work because the multiply blend mode replaces lighter pixels with darker pixels than the blend color. The resulting color is always a darker color. Multiplying any color with black produces black which is why it looks like the foreground is in front of the text. Knowing that doesn't help you do the effect so I didn't waste time saying that in the video. It doesn't change or help anything. Like, knowing this now isn't going to help you make the effect with the clip you used. All you needed to know was you needed to use a video with dark objects in the foreground.
