When Excalibur falls, hold that piece out and turn the puzzle upside down and start pushing everything around again. There shouldn’t be any way that it goes back to square one if you are holding that piece out. Just a thought.
When the sword drops down did you try turning the sword piece? The sword handle is angled which gives me the impression that you should be able to turn the sword. This would change the position the holes in the blocks are when you pull it up so the blocks go to the edge like you were thinking. Then you can pull the sword up when all the blocks are edged to the white sides. Not sure if that makes sense...
Chris i know what you need to do to solve it!! You see the sword handle sticking out from the box? Well you need to remove that! You are very welcome my friend!

119 moves in sequence will not require just luck, each move has a purpose. Possibly returning to the start is like you said 'muscle memory' taking back through moves you have already done. You said yourself that in some of these puzzles you may need to twist pieces, when the sword drops down that could create space for a twisting motion. I hope you solve it and I love your doggo! Another suggestion i just thought of would be to see if any pieces move up and over others. Hope that makes sense.

Look it is simple; it is a cube at the top and bottom. If the bottom spins freely, it doesn't accomplish anything because it's a cube with even sides (there's a small chance it does, but that is not what OP implied anyway). If the top spins, well it can't, because it is tightly stuck inside the brown cube frame. Extremely clear to see many times during the vid, and doesn't really take 200+ Rick and Morty fan IQ to see.
Hi Chris i want to share a quick story with you, it will probablly get lost in the tons of comments, but i hope you are going to read this. So i just wanted to say that the Memento Mori deck is my favourite deck. So here's why. I live in the Czech Republic, and i had a dream to go to the US. So i did, went to New York. When i was there i really wanted to visit an actual magic shop, because we have none here, only internet ones. It was friday and Tannen's was closed, so i went to Fantasma. Had a great time there, met Brandon K. Willams and other cool people. He showed me the new decks they had, and one of them was the MM Blue. And we talked about the controversy and stuff. I said that i would love to have the original version. They had 1 deck left, that was put on show for people to try out. So they gave it to me at a discount. Whenever i take the deck and do something with it i always remember the occasion and i like to think, that the energy of all the people, who handled it before me is still in that deck. Anyways that was my story and i also hope that i'll be so lucky to meet you one day, so you can sign it for me :D
The bottom piece is a large brown square attached to the sword. I think a good way would be to imagine the box has three compartments in which that bottom square has to have space enough and try to get a gap big enough for that bottom piece to fit into it. Once it has moved up one level you have to create space on the second level and so on. Just a thought, and that is probably why it takes so many moves.
ya I'll bet at some point you have to hold the sword piece from dropping down while your still manipulating the sides and eventually you will get it to move up a notch, and then while still holding it up do some more moves and then you will finally release it.
I think i does need to go down but later can be moved up. There is probably a reason why it can go down. This thing seems very hard. Then think how to put it back...
1. I know it was. 2. I think you have a serious table saw addiction. Would you like me to get you in touch with a support group to help you with your addiction?
I’ve found with some burr puzzles (I’ve never done one over 50 moves so I don’t know how manageable it would be on this beast) it helps if you can come up with a notation to record the moves and draw out a tree of the paths you’ve tried. This helps keep you from going backwards or retrying the same thing that doesn’t work. Also it makes it feel like work so it may not be for everyone.
Mapping works just fine for any number, just gets really really tedious at some point over 80 moves or so :P Not half as tedious as spending the same time on making 0 progress with 0 idea what's going on though :P
I watched a video on how to do this, I wont spoil it but you move the pieces enough you can pull them out, the sword will move up and down but it doesn't mean anything as its a a piece of the puzzle its self.
I'm no puzzle expert but I would start by putting some colored stickys on each side of the block and even on the pieces themselves to help with remembering what went where ya dig, awesome looking puzzle 👍
If you haven't solved it yet I can give you 2 hints. I finally got it after a few weeks lol 1: You won't twist or turn any pieces, you will be able to pull them straight out as you solve them. 2:You won't move the sword at all until you are working on removing your SECOND piece.
With 119 moves required, you'll never happen on the solution by chance!!! Is there some way to methodically try one move after another and see what each does, recording the moves as you go? Also, since you can't see the inside of the puzzle, try probing between the blocks using a feeler gauge, lockpick, etc. You may be able to determine the internal configuration by feel. That may give you some idea when you've made progress after a move. Good luck! You're far more patient than I am!
I think your dog might actually have been on to something. The fact that the hilt twists might have something to do with opening it. Possibly the blade contains some sort of pin that is retracted when the hilt is twisted?
He ended up accidentally turning that top part of the hilt several times. He said burr puzzles normally have a "twisting" element. I bet that is exactly what it is, and he just didn't notice. I was talking through the screen for him to notice the hilt, but he never did.
★ You need to keep a finger underneath the square piece so that you can push it up ★ and with luck the maze might open up a space and it might go up. Worth a shot
0MindSwept0 It was probably assembled before adding the lighter colored wood surrounding it cause the lighter wood pieces seem to be different but attached together
Perhaps you are supposed to return to the beginning for the most part except having a few blocks changed and get to the end by restarting over and over with a few blocks slightly changed.
Ik you can’t see inside but remember to pull it out you have the make a square sized gap in the middle of the cube so I think the goal would be to have as many pieces as possible on the outside
The sword is supposed to drop down. It also moves back and fourth after it drops down. Heres a link to it being solved but probably won't help a whole lot because it's near impossible to memorize each side and piece. ua-cam.com/video/TN7I1jNl9fs/v-deo.html

@Chris Ramsay -- Thanks for doing these videos. I have been contemplating getting into doing these types of puzzles, because I like activities that exercise my intellect. The ability to stick with a challenging task and attempt multiple variations of solutions increases intellectual fortitude and is very satisfying. That is why I took up coding and woodworking in fact. After watching your videos I am in the process of selecting my first puzzle. Would you have any suggestions on what my first puzzle should be? I would like to keep the cost under $100 for my first puzzle. Thanks for your time and these wonderful videos!!
I have a tip for Ramsay he said the bottom popping out might be important well I think it is maybe once it pops out you can lift the sword up while the bottom is still popped out and then slide blocks under the sword from there being no area blocking it since it popped out witch might make extra space
All 24 points for giveaway. Maybe you can start the puzzle upside down instead of right side down causes the sword to fall down. Maybe it’s the other way around when you do so. Hope you solve the puzzle soon Chris. Succes!!
You're wrong. There's no right answer for this. It may very much be a linguistic evolution. All studies point in this direction. Caliburn and Excalibur are the same sword until new studies of mythology arises and show a different logic to the King Arthur's tale. Edit -> Source: mythology.stackexchange.com/questions/20/are-excalibur-and-caliburn-different-swords
Karen here and acctually I know more than both of you because I studied a whole page of facebook and acctually neither swords existed! Do your research!
In before you need to rotate the handle of Excalibur as part of the solution. ;) Must be a nightmare to put back together again, especially if you get the pieces mixed up.
Yes! that's just what I was thinking! If the pieces falling down allows the sword to move down, shouldn't the pieces falling up allow the sword to move up? maybe? trying it upside down from the beginning means that the pieces wouldn't just fall back to where they were before.

The bottom piece is a large brown square attached to the sword. You need to create a sequential space of that dimension, that will allow it to travel up step by step and not drop it down in my opinion. Dropping it down is the opposite of what you want to do.

You should try to get it back to the beginning BUT, you try to get the sword down to the bottom while it is back there.
I have watched a lot of your videos, and this is the first one where I saw you unable to saw a puzzle. It was actually a really good surprise and refreshing to know your're human. Anyways, cool channel brother. You and a few others got me into magic at the age of 30.
Try to solve it upside down from the beginning
That makes sense, as the bottom of the sword goes through.
If it was reversed, so would the top.
... probably.
That was my thinking too!
a channel called genius club is uploading your video's.
change your profile pic to a rat

Your dog is so cute❤️❤️❤️
I love you Chris Ramsayyyyy! I live in Dubai, if you ever visit Dubai please make sure to let me know....
Can the Sword spin once it drops?
Flare Gaming lol
exactly what i was thinking
Twisting the sword is part of the solution.
he tries to spin it at 6:22.
nope :(
yea but at like 6:34 the sword itself seems to turn super easy even if the bottom doesn't turn
Have you played interlocked
It’s the same kind of puzzle
But there’s a bunch of levels
All 24 points for giveaway. Maybe you can start the puzzle upside down instead of right side down causes the sword to fall down. Maybe it’s the other way around when you do so. Hope you solve the puzzle soon Chris. Succes!!
I am so excited. This is the only thing I will enter for
Could this all be just a trick and you just have to pull it out ?
lol
I was thinking the same thing cause at the start u might be able to pull it out but as soon as u make your first move u cant
snuupie he’s tried to pull it out
M4D0G G4MING he*
that puzzle looks way harder than anything you have ever attempted to solve! good luck
i know the solution!
up, up, down, down, left, right, left, right, A, B, A, B, A, start
Konami always works, you genius

Onis Knight Viv
Hope is slim on winning, but Im already thankful for all the free knowledge and entertainment by my boy Chris
Try doing this. When the sword goes threw the bottom try putting it back to normal (whilst the bottom is out)
Doubt it would do anything but does the bottom part that falls through spin any?
"i have to be careful not to tilt it so the blocks don't move"
*vigorously shakes it*
Lol, i suppose that was a mistake
Caliburn is the sword in the stone and excalibur is the sword given to Arthur by The Lady of the Lake
You're wrong. There's no right answer for this. It may very much be a linguistic evolution. All studies point in this direction. Caliburn and Excalibur are the same sword until new studies of mythology arises and show a different logic to the King Arthur's tale.
Edit -> Source: mythology.stackexchange.com/questions/20/are-excalibur-and-caliburn-different-swords
Karen here and acctually I know more than both of you because I studied a whole page of facebook and acctually neither swords existed! Do your research!
This guy is like a 2018 version of a lumberjack that’s a very paciente magician
You should work on it upside down so when you get it, the sword falls out
udos, man, for being real and honest. Showing non-successess is super cool for some reason. I respect you.
In before you need to rotate the handle of Excalibur as part of the solution. ;)
Must be a nightmare to put back together again, especially if you get the pieces mixed up.
U gave me an idea, Try with the puzzle up side down.
exactly thats the only way
although there's more than one way to do something... this is the only known way for now
Or trying to turn the sord around
Yes! that's just what I was thinking! If the pieces falling down allows the sword to move down, shouldn't the pieces falling up allow the sword to move up? maybe? trying it upside down from the beginning means that the pieces wouldn't just fall back to where they were before.
i have an idea too, what if you watch the video?
lSirHunter he did try
as soon as I noticed that 'solving' wasn't in the title. I knew this would be a nice video
