Welcome back to the second part of our series on the 1972 Chevrolet Blazer. In the last episode, we saw the extensive dash modification and custom kick panel fabrication process of this classic beauty. Today, we'll be diving into a custom design that sets this Blazer apart from the rest.
INTRODUCING THE CUSTOM A-PILLAR:
The A-pillar of a vehicle is the structural member located at the front of the windshield and it is a crucial component that adds strength to the body of the car. But, the team behind this Blazer had a different vision in mind. They wanted to add a unique touch to the A-pillar, making it the centerpiece of the vehicle's exterior.
THE FABRICATION PROCESS:
The custom A-pillar design is a work of art that took hours of planning, prototyping, and fabricating. The team started by sketching the design on paper and then transferred it to a computer-aided design program to see how it would look in 3D.
Next, the design was cut out of a sheet of aluminum using a CNC machine. This process allowed for precise cuts and ensured the design was flawless. Once the cuts were complete, the pieces were polished to a high shine and then assembled to form the final product.
THE INSTALLATION:
The custom A-pillar was a perfect fit and the installation process was relatively straightforward. The team started by removing the original A-pillar and carefully installing the custom piece in its place. The final step was to sand and paint the pillar, blending it seamlessly into the body of the car.
Not only is the craftsmanship amazing, but the attention to detail is seldom seen in car audio shops.
